Chapter 9 - Media Drama

After his meeting with the players, managers and captains, Alex knew it's about time he met with the media to address, listen to and answers most of their questions as he knew from the rumour mills what's being said abou him and his board in the media and he knows which media houses to be friendly with and those to ignore. Alex was currently discussing with Ms Mary on the potential questions the media might ask and how he should approach them while being resilient and confident, Ms Mary being of media background has a whole lot of experience when it comes to handling and organizing a successful Press conference.

The next day being Monday, Alex was in his office reviewing the last additions by his assistant on his potential talk points and remedies, with just an hour before the official conference begins. Journalists from around Europe, Asia, Africa and the rest of the globe are filing into the clubs enormous conference hall where iconic players have been presented to the Barca public as official new signings and heartbreaking moments like the recent announcement by Iniesta a few seasons ago of his decision to leave the team.

Mary started addressing the media "Good afternoon members of the press, I'm Mary Rodriguez the official assistant to the president and currently the acting public relations officer, we're here to ask and answer majority of your questions because we believe only by informing the fans, Socios and public would we be transparent as the board and only then would we truly hold ourselves accountable for our words and actions".

Ms Mary was still addressing the media on what not to ask, how to go about what they can ask and also informing them of the recent changes in the structure of management in Fc Barcelona as president Alex has approved the new structure where Alex, Marotta and Edwards are those In charge of everything in the sports department with Edwards the one I charge of running the department while directly reporting to Marotta. Marotta, Alex and Futre are the ones in charge of running the Youth sector with Futre being the person incharge while working with Marotta directly.

Ms Mary was at the final stretch of her speech when Alex accompanied by Marotta and Stylsvig came into the hall with confident strides which even the journalists were drawn towards, "Good day gentlemen of the press, our friends and brothers of the media, My name is Alex the newly elected president of Fc Barcelona and the person incharge of all its affairs as an entity, by my right hand side is the new VP Football, Mr Marotta who I did all I could to get to join the amazing project we're about to embark upon at Fc Barcelona, while to my left is Mr Stylsvig whom I'm sure the journalists from Italy do know as well from his recent job at Ac Milan. The Fc Barcelona board has fully designed it self as a catalyst and bedrock of management in mordern day sports with efficiency at its mind".

After finishing with the introductions, now the real conference started when questions from the media began to rain in, "Congratulations on being the president of Barca and we wish you well, mr president my name is Martinez Ferran from RAC2, Mr president What's your view on the current squad and management, would there be change in management, as rumors has kept indicating your pessimism with the current management, thank you

"Well Mr Martin, your question do put me on the edge as you know the current season is yet to end and won't like to say anything that'll destabilize the teams morale but Yes there would be some change in the management and as well keep saying as the board, We are going to change how the club is ran in the past without changing the core methodologies of the Club, Barca's Mes Que Un Club doesn't just reflect for the pitch side affairs, it's an embodiment of who we are and what's expected of us. Thank you".

The next question is from Guillem Balague who we all know is a fan of our city opponents Espnayol " Mr Marotta my question is to you, Your track record at inter Milan has shown your balance between but high price signings and Cost effectiveness of your low budget transfers, what your transfer strategy going to be at Barca as barce we expect it to be a bigger stage than Inter Milan, thank you".

"We'll mr Balague the first thing I did when I joined Barca was to research media personalities within the city and those that support our derby among the journalists and your name showed you're a fan of them, but any way I'll have to answer your question despite knowing I'll still make your angry during the season as usual and yes jokes aside Barca is a bigger gt stage than Milan but the belief is still the same, the idea is still the same and the mentality is still the same, what I mean is where funds are available and the market options are enticing, nothing would stop us from pouncing onto it and again that'll only be if the market opportunities are great. Barcelona would not sign just for the sake of signings just like the recent board did but we'll still have a better team to face the future with, thank you and sorry in advance for your team.
