I looked down at the man who was trembling in anger. His face showed a look of denial. He could not accept it at all.
The boy infront of him was at the same level as he was, tier-2 low stage. Yet he was being cornered.
It didn't make sense, the boy looked like a commoner yet he had a variant element and a strong one at that. Moreover, he also seemed to have a movement type spell, for a commoner that should have been impossible to acquire.
Nobles have been monetizing spell scrolls around the city, how did a commoner get a hold of one?!
He would have shit his pants if he learned that Neil created the spell himself instead of learning it from a spell scroll.
I looked behind me to see the entrance burnig up in flames.
What a destructive attack, I thought.
If I had faced the attack there would be no doubt that I would have incurred severe burns and damages to my body, not even my cloak could have protected me. Even the entrance door was blasted out.
Anyway, Neil was a really formidable mage with spells that are versatile enough that his survivability was very high. He could fight in close range with his Thunder Sword, he could fight from afar with his Thunder Arrow and even escape if the situation permitted it with Thunderclap. Moreover he also had his trumpcard, the Thunder Serpent which could help in many ways in terms of sneak attack and utility.
It would be safe to even say that Neil didn't have any equal to his level, at least to those common mages.
Suddenly, my hairs stood on end as I felt danger about to hit me.
I quickly activated my spell Thunderclap and disappeared from my position only to reappear someplace else.
Boomm!
On the spot where I was previously at, a spear stood out. It had struck the floor and caused it to make a small crater. It was planted deep into the floor.
The man who had backed away finally showed a smile upon the arrival of the spear.
He laughed maniacally - still clutching his wounded shoulder, "Hwhahahahhw, you're dead now brat!"
I furrowed my brows and ignored the hysterical man, I turned my head to where I sensed the danger was coming from. My eyes landed on the stairs leading to the second floor, there I saw a huge man with bulky muscles, he looked more than a beast rather than a human.
"What took you so long you muscle-head, I could've have died you know!" The man screamed wildly as his gnashed his teeth, glaring at me right after with malice.
The big bulky dude frowned but it vanished right after, 'You're lucky you're still cashing us some money, because I would have bashed you're head down the floor for barking at me myself.' He thought.
"Sorry, sorry young master. Heheh I too was just enjoying my time in my room, I thought you could have handled the commotion though. Thats why I didn't come down. But..." He showed a modest smile and apologized to the man, but he added a little bit of scorn in the end and looked at the destruction of the lobby whilst walking down the stairs.
"You!" The man whom was referred to as 'young master' bit his lips. He could feel the scorn from the big man's voice.
"I had simply let my guard down, if I had gone all out from the start this kid would have been barbecue right now!" The young master noble shouted with anger twisting his voice.
"Oho~, no matter. I'll take care of him for you for now seeing as you seem...injured." The big man dragged his last word as if adding salt to the wound.
The young master, clutching the wound on his shoulder tighter, he thought, 'Shut up fcking commoner, know your place in life!' His eyes shone in dangerous light.
But he dared not voice it out as even if he was a noble, he was sure this barbaric man would kill him if he crossed the line.
I observed the two and I could tell, they weren't on good terms. It seems as though they are merely on a deal together that benefited them.
"I take it you are the mage that took down two of my men and even made this coward here run away?" My eyes landed on a person whom the big man had referred to, it was the man whom had ran away from the inn after I took care of his two subordinates.
"Ye-yes he's the one boss!" He shrieked, sweat falling down his forehead.
The boss showed a vicious smile, he arrived at the ends of the stairs, he glared at me and said.
"You're very strong for a commoner mage, young too. How about joining me?" He offered his wide palm open and his arms extended.
