"Of course, a trial is still a trial. Even though the special mechanism exist, it won't make it so that the trial is easy, it will only make it so that it is fair. Fair doesn't mean easy. Even though I say fair, I actually mean that the special mechanism make it so that you have the chance to win. But thats it! It is only a chance, if you have power and wits, you can easily grasp this chance."
Listening to its words, it was just as I had expected. The trials will still pose a challenge, after all, like the ancient tree said, a trial is still a trial. I may have a chance to win but it is not guaranteed. I will have to grasp this chance myself.
With a determined face, I stepped on the platform and soon, light burst forward but a second later, it disappeared. The platform was now once again, empty.
The ancient trees leaves swayed along with its branches.
"A boy bearing divinity with a lightning element and with a very special attribute, accompanied by a spirit, how interesting. The world looks like its about to fall into chaos, for such a boy to exist."
_______
I opened my eyes to a room as large as a mini stadium.
The floor was made of stone bricks as well as the wall and the ceiling. No door nor windows could be found. The room looked empty as it could be.
It was creepy not gonna lie.
I looked to my side and saw Neph floating right beside my shoulders. She too seemed curious what this room was.
No entrance nor exit existed.
Just then, another voice spoke on my mind. At this point, I wasn't surprised anymore, with the ancient tree abruptly talking in my head, I somehow got used to it.
"Welcome Trialist! The 1st trial will begin shortly, please get ready." A monotonous voice sounded in my head.
I shrugged, my mana was filled to the brim, and I was at the cusp of breaking to tier-2 mid stage. My eyes were as alert as my senses, I was ready as I could be.
It seemed that Neph was also ready, her face now looked determined not the usual childish expressions.
The monotonous voice spoke once again, "Your goal is to survive for two minutes in this room."
That's it?
As simple as it sounded, I was not about to let my guard down. This Labyrinth was clearly not an ordinary one, it was made by a very powerful mage clearly. After all, it possesses a special mechanism, most of all it has a transportation device too. These two thing are considered extraordinary, no mere simple mage could create them.
The trials should not be easy, even if it sounded easy.
In the far back of the room, the opposite side of where I stood, a rock golem manifested. It was about the size of an adult human, slightly bigger than I was.
It then charged at me with bare fists.
Before I could attack though, something blue darted by my side and shot into the head of the golem, when the attack landed, it left a hole in its head. The golem crumbled into rubbles.
I looked to my side and saw Neph with her finger pointed at the now collapsed golem.
Shock was evident on my face, that attack was fast and dangerous.
Neph looked at me as well and smiled proudly, "Neph is powerful now, can help you in fights."
I showed a warm smile and nodded, "Yes, you watch my back okay?"
Neph nodded with her eyes shinning.
"Hmmp."
I turned back to the front and was shook, I saw a dozen or so more golems, heading our way
I readied myself, this was not about to be an easy fight.
"Lightning Sword!" Blue light darted from my side heading for the golems. Those that weren't hit, I finished off with my spell.
Once the golems were cut by the neck with my lightning sword, it fell to the ground and disintegrated. At least we wouldn't have to worry about tripping anymore.
A golem punched on my face, I tilted my head avoiding it, I went under its arm and cut its head off from its armpit to its neck. It's head flew followed by its body disintegrating.
Another golem brought its fist down but it still ended up disintegrating from my sword blade. I slashed here and there, right and left, back and front, head after head flew, bodies after bodies disintegrated. But golems after golems still manifested, they had grown to a scary number.
A golem managed to sneak behind my back and was about to punch the back of my head but before it could, light darted and hit its head, it disintegrated showing that it died.
It was Neph!
