Chapter 36 - Thirty-five. You're the only one

Thirty-five. You're the only one

An hour had already passed while they were outside. Kim was standing beside Ezekiel, while Hanabi and Luke stood together with Luke holding her. Ezekiel looked at them with a stern gaze.

"Return to the factory", he said coldly.

"But Mona isn't out yet", Hanabi responded quickly. She didn't want to go yet. She wanted to know that her friend was ok.

"You don't need me to repeat myself", Ezekiel said. He wasn't giving her any chance to retort. Hanabi's eyes brimmed with tears as she lowered her gaze. Ezekiel didn't even bother with her.

"Let's go Hanabi. She will make it", he assured, pulling her by the arm.

Hanabi looked at the door of the OR, that still had their lights on. Tears spilled from her eyes as she couldn't imagine the kind of pain that Monalissa was going through at the moment. Without thinking further, she fell on her knees beside Ezekiel.

"Please, if she wakes up, can you let us see her?"

Ezekiel looked at her. He was quite jealous of Monalissa. She had friends who would kneel for her. The ones who would wait for her and watch out for her. He didn't expect her to make friends this soon. He didn't wish that she'd be happy after what she did to his brother, but...he just realized that there are things he just couldn't control.

"I will", he said after much thought.

Hanabi gasped and looked up. She was surprised to get a positive reply from the Boss. She had thoughtlessly knelt down to beg him without thinking but he agreed?

"Thanks so much Boss! Thanks a lot".

"Leave then".

Hanabi stood and grabbed Luke in a hug. "Luke, we can see her when she wakes! The boss let us".

"Thank you Boss" Luke appreciated. However, Ezekiel didn't bother looking at him. The picture that was hidden somewhere in his phone gallery was still getting on his nerves.

The duo bowed and left.

Ezekiel was getting anxious with every passing minute. He paced from side to side, his fists clenched with a feeling he didn't know what it was. It wasn't worry, he thought but every part of him didn't want her to die. At least not yet. He wasn't done with her.

Suddenly, the door to the OR flung open, and two nurses rushed out. He grabbed on of them.

"What's going on?"

"The patient's loosing blood. We're in a hurry and the blood in the OR has finished. We need to find a blood donor ASAP".

Ezekiel didn't know how his mouth opened with the following statements coming out. "Take mine. I'm blood type O".

"Alright. Get ready for the transfusion".

"Boss", Kim called.

"I need information by tomorrow", Ezekiel said and walked into the OR with the two nurses. He was laid on the bed and an IV wire was inserted into his veins through a cannula. The nurses and doctor were up and about with their business but that wasn't his business. His business was her. His cold aura, however didn't diminish in that ward. The doctor and nurses were mindful as they had perceived him as someone powerful. The transfusion was successful and Ezekiel was led out to a ward. He was pale due to blood loss.

While the nurse attended to him, he said, "I need a VIP room for that woman".

"Oh...you mean your wife? I'll let the doctor know about it".

"And I need to see her after she comes out", he stated.

"But, she might not need any disturbances after the surgery".

"That's my business", he said in a cold tone which left no room for a negative reply.

"Y...yes", the nurse stuttered. This man was too overbearing!

It was later at night that the surgery ended. Monalissa was wheeled out on a stretcher to the room that was arranged for her. The room was very large. It looked like a combination of two big rooms. There was a comfortable bathroom there and a kitchen to prepare meals for the patient. Not many people could afford this kind of ward but Ezekiel Don wasn't among that many people. He was a don himself. After she was transferred to the ward, a nurse was left there to take care of her that night.

However, Ezekiel walked from his own ward to hers. He was in a much better state, compared to her. She was at the brink of death.

When he entered, the nurse was checking her situation at the moment in case anything seemed out of the ordinary. She heard the doorknob squeak and turned around. She wondered who it was at the dead of night.

"Sir...why are you..."

"I'll take it from here", he said cutting her off.

The nurse wanted to say something but kept quiet. "Ok. Alert us if anything happens".

Ezekiel nodded slightly. The nurse smiled and left.

The ward was engulfed in silence. The man who stood at the foot of the bed looked at the woman who lay on it.

"Walker...why are you lying here?" He scoffed. "Do you think lying here would save you from my hands? You know how to play a lot". He gripped the bed railings tightly as he tried to fight down the emotions that was trying so hard to erupt.

"Better wake up. You're the only one who can dance to my tune".
