CHAPTER SEVEN

ALPHA LUCAS THE UGLY

Lucas's POV

I paced around my chambers, gritting my teeth while I clenched my hand fists. My feet are thumping on the hard floor, going upward and backward. Aria had hit a nerve in me. Running off wasn't enough for her but to run to my enemy? That was the height of it.

Over the years, Alpha Adrian of the WhiteFangs Pack has stood as a threat to me and my family over a territorial feud. Aria, becoming part of his pack, was like mud on my face.

The more I thought of it, the more furious I became. I got close to the wall that was made of rough-hewn stone. It was a testament to the strength of those who built it but my anger was stronger still. My fist connected with the rough stone wall, sending a jolt of pain up my arm. I swore under my breath, clenching my fist as I glared at the hole my anger had created.

I turned abruptly as I perceived a familiar scent. The closer the person walked, the stronger the scent became. He finally got to my chamber and knocked gently on the door.

"Come in," I spoke.

Without keeping me waiting, he opened the door and walked in. He was sweating profusely and appeared quite dirty. His shoes were dusty, the same as his hair and brows.

"Alpha, there was no sign of her," he said, bowing his head. He was being careful not to let his gaze meet mine.

I became furious, my oval olive-tanned face turning red.

"What do you mean there was no sign of her?!" I thundered. Xander had never done anything right, it would have been better if the moon goddess had made him an omega instead. He was occasionally weak, maybe that was why he turned out to be a gamma.

I walked straight up to him, enclosing the distance between us. His head still bent, I yanked him to the wall, the exact wall where I had created a hole with my fist. Immediately, I picked up his hand, forcing it into the wall, bruising it well enough that it started to bleed, he started to wince and howl in pain and scream out loud.

"What do you mean you couldn't find her, huh?!" I asked again. I felt like the torture wasn't enough, I proceeded to yank long brown hair backward, making him cry out in pain.

"She probably died, Alpha," he cried out.

Probably? I couldn't believe that I had made him one of my right-hand men. He could barely do anything right and the more I thought of the more I tortured him. If he had found Scarlett, she would have been a bait for me to get Aria. How could he not find her?! How?!

Immediately, I pulled Xander's hand out of the wall, ignoring the blood that dripped from the deep gashes in his palm and knuckles. He fell to the floor, cradling his injured hand to his chest. He looked up at me, his eyes filled with fear and pain. I met his gaze, my eyes hard and unyielding.

"Get lost!" I roared. And immediately, he rose from the floor and ran out, slamming the door behind him.

"Delilah, come clean up this mess," I ordered the weak omega servant with my senses and she appeared within a twinkle of an eye, gasping at the scene in front of her.

I gave her a cold stare and walked out, headed to the bathroom where I washed my hand properly and changed to something else. The blood stains from Xander's hands had begun to stink and grow sticky.

I walked to my father's meeting room, ascending my father's throne-like chair. Gently, I scrutinized the room, imagining the pack members bowing to me as their alpha. I smiled at the thought of succeeding in my father's title. Growing from being a son of alpha—beta to becoming an alpha himself has always been my dream and I couldn't wait any longer.

"What're you thinking critically about?" My father's voice came off, startling me. I hadn't recognized his presence since he walked in, I was so deep in thought that I didn't notice his scent.

"Father," I called, arising from the throne-like chair immediately. I took a few steps down the small staircase in front of the chair.

"Where's Xander? Was he able to find her?" My father asked, taking a seat.

"No, he didn't," I answered in between my teeth, my eyes boring into my father's eyes.

He stood up from where he sat, taking his steps little but little, straight to the window. He turned his back to me, his hand folded at his back.

"You should go and see Aria's father," he spoke.

I walked up to him, looking puzzled. "Father, why do I need to go and see him?" I queried. Alpha Jonathan was the last person I wished to see. With how fully raged I was, going to meet the father who caused my anger was never on my go-to list.

He turned and faced me, "I'll be in the woods hunting. Hopefully, we will find her while on a hunt," he said, patting my shoulder while he left.

"Father!" I called out but he didn't reply. I walked back to the throne-like chair, settling down while I pondered on the importance of going to meet Alpha Jonathan Wolfe.

Like someone being controlled, I rose from the seat abruptly and left for the training field.

As I entered the training field, I could see my pack members going about their business. I held my hands behind my back, walking purposely. I was met with the presence of my pack members, some were sparring, their bodies glistening with sweat. Others were lifting weights, their muscles rippling with effort. Still others were practicing their agility, their movements swift and graceful. But I paid them no mind, all I wanted was for Derek to get my carriage ready for my journey.

I sighted Xander in a corner, getting treatments for his bruises. Immediately our eyes met, he bowed his head and turned his gaze away immediately.

"Derek!" I exclaimed.

In a few minutes, I appeared before me, his black short hair wet from sweat, and on his hand was a sword.

"Alpha, you called," he answered as he bowed his head.

"Get the carriage ready, we're going on a journey to BloodMoon Fangs," I spoke confidently, nudging him as I walked away.
