Chapter 13 - Black Poison

There was no way he could betray the Li Clan this soon either; he had to go there every week for the antidote; if the news was out, an early death was a surety. Emma also remained silent. They were in a dead end.

Looking at Bo Gui, the man looked back at Soha without moving too close. Even cornered little animals are deadly, not to mention the Heart-Eating Demon.

He just had to wait till Soha was exhausted due to the blood loss, and everything would be fine. He had no reason to worry.

"If I died, you can't get the Martial Art," Soha sneered, somehow calmer. "And you will make an enemy out of the Li Clan. I am not like the other demonic cultivators they hired; the 14th Elder of the Clan, Li Yuntao, and I have a relationship that goes much deeper."

"Much deeper?" Bo Gui frowned, looking at the red mask; he couldn't tell between the truth and the lie. But he then spat, "Who cares what he does? I will kill you even if I don't get the Martial Art. How dare you plan to ambush my base?"

Blood dripped from Soha's stomach, and he seemed to be growing increasingly worried. Then, after a long sigh, he asked, "How about this, Bo Gui? I will give you a part of the martial arts, and you will leave me alive. You know I won't be safe if you show that to the clan. They would kill me."

Bo Gui laughed coldly. "You can just confess to the clan and bring their gang here to get rid of me. Who are you kidding?"

Soha calmly shook his head. "If something like that happened, they would kill me regardless. They don't lack a Third Class Martial Artist, and they are the sort that likes quick work. They would immediately kill me before killing you."

A silence settled in the place. Then, Bo Gui smiled, showing his wide, white teeth.

From the first instance, this had been his goal; who would want to fight and kill for no reason?

He would get free martial arts without enslaving himself to some clan and, at the same time, have a mole inside the Li Clan. He didn't really have to put his trust in Soha's words. Just like the Li Clan, his Rabid Dog Bunch also had their own monthly poison.

This was his plan, even though he wondered if he was being too reckless, he didn't mind it.

Once Soha consumes that, he will have to come here every month till the day he breathes his last. Of course, Bo Gui didn't know that the clans like the Li Clan had ways of testing if their own lackeys had other poisons inside them, if he knew, he wouldn't be doing something like this.

He didn't mind keeping the use of the new martial arts a secret for gaining a powerful talent—whom he believed was young and inexperienced—as his servant. His lackey.

"I will not only let you live, I will even help get your wounds dressed in my gang. Why don't you follow me?"

Soha coldly laughed. "I would rather fight you to death than walk into the tiger's den for no reason. Come, let's see who dies first!"

Bo Gui's bald head shined.

He put his hand into his robes and took out a waterskin. He threw it at Soha.

"There is poison inside; drink it, and I will see you as a brother. I would not treat you as a slave; I am an honorable thief."

Soha coldly glanced at him, and his worried expression slowly calmed down. Bo Gui frowned. Soha showed him his metallic black arm that glinted with purple. "My hand is not as durable as your metal-like arms, but you see, it is more poisonous."

Bo Gui's eyes widened, and he looked down at his hand. A purplish tint had started growing on it, and it felt a bit limp. He shouted, "How dare you!"

Soha laughed. "Fucker, do you think I will just show my neck and die? You really have some inflated ego. Come bitch, let's fight now."

Filled with hatred, Bo Gui glared at Soha. His mask seemed to be laughing at him, gloating.

Suddenly, Soha ran at him, and Bo Gui also ran at Soha. He would immediately kill Soha and search for the antidote in Soha's hand. He should have it. And Soha did have it in the small pack on his side just in case he himself was poisoned.

With cold eyes, he put his hand into the pack, and just as Bo Gui reached near him, filled with anger, threw red powder at him. It was chilly powder. Bo Gui stopped for a second, but it was too late, the chilli blasted into his eyes and nose, and he was completely frozen.

"Ey…My eyes!!!" He shouted and waved his iron arms around in anger, but Soha jumped to the side and closed in before attacking him with his poisonous palm. One on the chest, one on the face, and a full power kick on the crotch.

Bo Gui tried to resist using his iron shield of a pair of arms, but it was too late. Panting, he opened his red eyes, and a dark hand nail scratched his eyeball slightly before Soha jumped back.

Just as Bo Gui was at his wits end, Soha pulled the arrow in his guts out and planted it right into the enemy's.

Then, it didn't take long before Bo Gui was down on the ground, squirming, panting, filled with dizziness. The poison had started to run into his systems and once it entered a person's system, only channeling Innate Qi can slow down their downfall.

Yet, Soha didn't have a knife, and his hands were too poisonous to try gouging the heart out with it. That was one of the reasons he pulled out the impales arrow in the first place when leaving it there was better for his survival.

He used the arrow and strugglingly cut the chest out. Luckily, 3rd Class Martial Artists had a far more powerful vitality than normal people so he easily stayed alive throughout the process.

Bo Gui had bitten his own tongue to die quicker, but that was just a myth; it wouldn't kill you so soon.

Calmly, Soha wrapped his hand around another pair of woolen gloves from his small pack—which he had prepared for his hunts—and then took out the heart.

Soon, it was in his mouth.

He had expected the heart of a 3rd Class to be better than normal people, but Emma noted with a worried tone: [They are the same. 3rd Class Martial Artists can sense the Innate Qi inside them, while normal people have it but can't sense it. Their hearts are thus the same, no difference—

[Both contain similar amounts of Innate Qi unless they practice a Demonic Art like yours, but this person practiced a normal Martial Art.]

Soha breathed out a puff of air and began running towards the enemy camp. He can now eat some more hearts and break through to the 2nd-class martial artist level before anything else. He kept one of his hands gloved while the other shined darkly.

If he brokethrough to 2nd Class, he could channel Innate Qi throughout his body at will and maintain the bleeding for now. He would be able to block it forcefully with Qi. With calm determination, he ran back the way he came, yet his guts hurt like never before.
