Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Tentacle Fury

Elias's heart leapt as three bottles, larger than the previous potions, appeared in his hands.

Elias, with the potion in hand, rushed out the door in a hurry.

By coincidence, the two had fought their way here, leaving the second floor corridor of the old mansion looking like it had been bulldozed, a mess stretching all the way to the door.

"This darn monster, why does it have so many tentacles? So annoying!"

Isabella professor's eyes were filled with ferocity.

Elias noticed her right arm seemed broken, hanging loosely, swinging painfully, a sight that looked excruciating.

Luna wasn't faring much better; countless black tendrils had been severed, Isabella professor's crimson blade was sharper than it appeared.

"Why haven't you run away yet?"

Isabella professor instantly turned her gaze to Elias stepping out the door, "Why stand there like an idiot? Your sis is here for you!"

"I know."

Elias looked at the nearly berserk Luna, her eyes fixated on him.

"Die! Just die!!"

"You two despicable people!!!"

The black tendrils thrust forward.

Isabella professor moved to push Elias aside, annoyed at him for being in the way.

But Elias dodged her and sprinted forward, positioning himself between them.

"Are you crazy? You..."

Before Isabella could scold him, she watched in astonishment as Elias tossed a glass bottle at the creature before them.

With a crack, the glass shattered, a strong medicinal scent rising into the air.

The black tendrils instantly shuddered, and Luna, clutching her face, twisted in agony.

"AAAAHHHHHH!"

"What's this stuff?" Isabella was amazed, the monster she couldn't handle reacting so violently to something in a glass bottle.

Now it was Elias's turn to give Isabella professor a heads-up.

"What are you waiting for? Go for it!"

"You, kid..." She cast a sidelong glance at Elias.

"Didn't think you had it in you."

With that, she gripped her blood-red blade in her left hand, leaped high, and plunged straight toward the vital spots Luna was shielding with her tendrils.

As Isabella wielded her blood-red blade, charging at Luna, something extraordinary happened.

Luna's body underwent a drastic transformation, her tendrils sprouting pitch-black, tough scales.

Some tendrils fortified her body like armor, while others stretched outward relentlessly.

She resembled a gigantic black sea urchin or a hedgehog, ready for both offense and defense.

Despite Isabella's speed, she couldn't land a hit on Luna's critical points.

Instead, Isabella herself ended up with a few more scars.

"I hate dealing with this stuff..." Isabella grumbled, clutching her dislocated right arm, irritation coursing through her.

"And it's ugly, too..."

"Ugh, I hate ugly things the most..."

As she muttered, the monster didn't give her a moment to breathe. Its absurdly sharp tendrils stabbed at her without warning.

Isabella transformed into a blur of blood, dodging swiftly.

The wooden floor of the corridor was as fragile as paper under the assault, the tendrils piercing the spot where she had just stood, kicking up a cloud of dust and splinters.

Isabella kept dodging the deadly tendrils, her bloodied silhouette flickering ceaselessly.

Though she knew the monster's weakness from Elias, getting close was frustratingly impossible.

Her pale eyes locked onto the tendrils, Isabella quickly schemed for a way out.

Suddenly, she glanced around.

Where's Elias?

Dodging tendrils, she searched for Elias's whereabouts.

Then she spotted him, a sneaky shadow inching closer from across the corridor, signaling to her non-stop.

Isabella instantly got what he was planning.
