As Elias and Luna surveyed the ruins from the explosion, another steam car, belching black smoke and losing power, pulled up in front of them.
Chief Leonardo, looking disheveled and exhausted, emerged from the vehicle.
"Elias... thanks to your warning..." he gasped for breath, his tense demeanor finally relaxing.
"Otherwise... I would have been blown up inside..."
Elias observed him; apart from some superficial injuries, Leonardo was as lively as ever – the fastest police officer in all of Saint Rose City.
The two exchanged a weary glance and then sat down on the ground, looking towards the devastated buildings.
Leonardo's brow furrowed, "This is no longer just a simple case of disappearances and theft..."
Hearing the screams in the distance, his tone grew increasingly indignant
. "What could possibly be the motive behind targeting so many unarmed civilians? "
"It's outrageous, utterly monstrous! "
