Soon, the dreaded batcall had arrived.
Yvonne flashed him a bright smile before going off to take a bath, and then, the blonde teenager was left alone.
Xavian felt a slight vibration in his pocket.
"Max sent me texts?"
However, on opening the batch of messages, Xavian scratched the back of his head in nervous embarrassment.
"Sheesh Max, I'm sorry."
The texts read:
[15:00pm: Xavian where are you?[
[17:00pm: Xavian, where the hell are you?!]
[19:00pm: Xavian, where the fuck are you?!! I've been waiting for hours!!!!]
With a sigh, Xavian rubbed his aching temples.
He had forgotten to meet up with Max yesterday.
But the last text lifted Xavian's mood a bit.
[23:00: if you're busy, you could have just said so.
I got you a three piece suit and tie, pick it up at the school's drycleaner later.:-)]
With a stifled groan, the blonde teenager dressed up in his uniform.
At the breakfast table, Xavian and Yvonne found two people already there.
"Elena?, Nein? When did you guys get back?"
Nein smiled a bit.
"It's...kind of a long story."
***
A few days earlier, Nein had confronted the two bullies that beat up Pinkie.
Morbi stroked his hair and stretched.
"So the fake Ten Corer finally came to play?"
Nein frowned.
"It's not fake. You don't have to throw your weight around just because you're stronger than others.
Everyone is strong in their own way.
I myself have personally wit..."
But before he could finish, a fist had crashed into his face.
Dirk spat.
"Cut the everyone is strong in their own way crap.
Some are strong, some are weak.
It's not a crime to hurt a few weaklings.
Besides, when the war starts they will all perish anyway."
Nein looked up at the teenage boys in profound disgust.
"You both make me sic.."
But once again, he was not allowed to finish as a foot had slammed into his ribs, making him cough out blood.
Morbi smiled in sadistic pleasure as he continued to hit the kneeling figure.
"You see, fake Ten Corer. THIS is power."
Nein had his eye twitch.
"Power?, POWER?!!!
You think....this...is...power?"
His lips curled into a dark smirk as his eyes began to glow in an ethereal blue color.
Standing up despite his injuries, Nein stretched out his hand, making Dirk suspended in the air.
Like literally.
The teenager was hanging almost seven feet away from the floor.
"You think power is a blessing, Don't you?
You think it's something to be proud about?"
A loud pop followed as Nein had dislocated Dirk's wrist.
"Having overwhelming power is a fucking curse!"
This time, the teenager's elbow popped as he screamed in pain.
"You don't know the feeling of having to watch other people your age live life, while you're stuck in a stupid castle.
You don't know what it's like to live in eternal fear of losing control.
You don't know how to survive with a threat looming over your head!!"
Once again, another pop.
But this time Nein had unplugged all of Dirk's bones from their joints, making the teenager pass out due to the pain.
Morbi paled in fear.
'He's a monster.', he thought as he began to slowly back away.
However, he soon found himself suspended in the air, like Dirk had been.
"Please, don't hurt me!!"
This remark made Nein boil with profound anger.
"I...shouldn't...hurt you?."
Morbi nodded vigorously.
"Please don't!"
Nein smiled slightly.
"Alright. I won't hurt you.
His deep red eyes narrowed into slits as he spat.
"I'm going to fucking kill you!!!"
Then a loud crack followed as Morbi's limp body crashed down.
The noise made Dirk to stir awake.
"Huh?, Where am I?"
Nein turned around and smiled.
"Don't think I've forgotten about you."
***
Nein took a sip of the 'juice'and sighed.
"Let's not bother ourselves with long stories.
Anyways, how was life without me.
Boring?"
Xavian smiled slightly.
"You have no idea."
Elena groaned.
"Alright let's all get something to eat, I've been on a diet for a week now, preparing for the ball."
Yvonne tilted her head slightly and spoke during breakfast for the first time.
She had never joined in their conversations before.
"And you're stuffing yourself now?"
Elena shrugged.
"It's nine hours to the ball, a few pounds of meat is not really going to make a huge difference.
...I hope."
And life had somewhat gotten back to how it used to be.
Carefree Nein making jokes and livening up the place, nice Elena always finding a reason to help someone, Pink...Yvonne being silent, but adding a few words here and there; she had become a bit more outgoing after the incident.
However, Xavian still had a feeling of wrongness gnawing at his heart.
From Anais, to The Ball, Nein, his own system, his existence as a dhampir, and a few he would have forgotten.
But right now, Xavian just basked in the moment.
It wasn't everyday he had the chance to talk about random stuff with his friends and just enjoy their company.
He did not have much friends apart from Bob after all.
