Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 : START OF A NEW ADVENTURE

Kol glanced around the room, his eyes landing on Rebekah. With a teasing smile, he approached her."So, how's my cutest sister feeling after being backstabbed again?" he quipped.Rebekah looked at Kol, noticing his playful expression, and relaxed."Ah, my dear brother Kol," she replied with a smirk, "why don't you stake yourself? Then your little and only sister might finally find some peace."Kol chuckled. "Ah, my lady's wish is my command."He made a show of walking around, pretending to look for a stake. Before he could take it further, Rebekah sped up to him and threw her arms around him in a tight hug."I missed you, Kol.""Me too, Bekah." He pulled back and smiled at her. "So, why don't we take a walk? I imagine we have quite a bit to catch up on."They left the room, strolling side by side. Kol gave her an exaggerated bow. "My lady," he said in a mock-royal tone.Rebekah laughed, playing along with a haughty strut. "You're such an idiot, Kol," she said, but couldn't help laughing with him."So," Kol began, "why don't you start from the time I got daggered?"Rebekah hesitated. "Kol, about that...""No need to worry, Bekah. Who's going to protect you if not your big brother?" Kol said grandiosely, puffing out his chest in an exaggerated manner.Rebekah rolled her eyes but began recounting the events. She told him how she, Klaus, and Elijah escaped New Orleans, then how Klaus took their siblings' coffins and went into hiding with her. They ended up in Chicago, where they enjoyed the music, the girls, and, of course, the blood. She mentioned a young vampire who had caught their attention—a ripper who, despite his savagery, had a sweet side that intrigued them.Kol raised an eyebrow, his expression knowing. "A ripper, you say?"Rebekah nodded, continuing the story. She explained how Mikael eventually found them while they were preparing to flee. She wanted to take Stefan with them, but Klaus opposed it. Instead, Klaus deceived her, putting a dagger in her heart and compelling Stefan to forget everything about them.Kol deadpanned, staring at her. "Sister, correct me if I'm wrong, but the gap between your love affairs seems to be about three or four years. Sigh… I don't know, Bekah. Should I call you a harlot, or should I scold you for falling in love so soon after the last one?"Rebekah shot him a look, but he continued, undeterred."I always told you, Bekah, if you keep searching for something, you'll find it everywhere. But in doing so, you lose your uniqueness. Love, when it's real, should be all-encompassing. It shouldn't change you."He sighed dramatically. "So then, what happened next?"Rebekah's expression grew distant, her tone softening. "Then Nik took the dagger out of me after his curse was broken. But he couldn't make hybrids. He needed my necklace, which he could use as a conduit to contact the Original Witch.""Wait, wait. Are you referring to mother as the 'Original Witch' now? And why did he need a conduit at all? You and Nik are conduits yourselves. Personal belongings can be useful for a séance, sure, but we're thousand-year-old vampires, Bekah. We can handle a simple séance."Kol scoffed. "Whichever witch Nik was using must have been stalling him. That's why I'm the expert, darling. The law of equivalent exchange must always be followed, and witches love trying to weasel their way out of deals."He tilted his head. "So, did Nik figure out what he needed?""Yes, Kol. We found out the doppelgänger was still alive. Stefan had been lying. Nik wanted to kill her, but instead, he used her blood to make his hybrids."She sighed. "Then he went on a road trip and left me here. Meanwhile, those 'toddlers,' as you'd call them, and that doppel-bitch partnered up with another doppel-bitch and woke Mikael."Kol's eyes flashed, and he stepped closer, looking her dead in the eye. "And where were you, sister?""I was left here," Rebekah admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.Kol's jaw clenched. "I always knew Nik was terrified of father, but leaving you at Mikael's mercy? I had no idea it was this bad."Rebekah gave a faint nod. "I told Nik about Mikael, warned him. But as expected, he didn't believe me. He came back with his hybrids, thinking he could handle it. And of course, I ended up daggered by that doppel-bitch."Kol's eyes darkened. "It seems I'll have to take revenge on your behalf.""Kol... about New Orleans," Rebekah started hesitantly, a pained expression crossing her face.Kol's demeanor shifted instantly, his voice sickly sweet. "Darling, you're my sister. That means I'm forever honor-bound to endure your tantrums, love-life betrayals, and every other drama you bring my way."He smiled wickedly. "But, my dear, I've noticed something. You fight so fiercely for love and freedom, yet I don't think you even know what you want anymore. You keep fighting Nik, but maybe it's time to stop searching for love in fools. You're a Valkyrie, Bekah. It's time you start seeing yourself as one."Rebekah raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Which Valkyrie am I, exactly?"Kol grinned. "Why, the ugliest one, of course."Before she could respond, Kol sped away, his laughter echoing through the halls."Kol!" Rebekah shouted, chasing after him.Kol's mocking laughter filled the air as she pursued him.I am always available for conversations about the storyIf you like the story please do support me on Patpatreon.com/LUCIFER482
