I felt a cold dread settle in my stomach as the reality of the entire situation became painfully clear. Jared didn't just need me – he intended to use me, to force me to unlock the power that had been hidden away for so long.
The thought of it, the unimaginable destruction that could be unleashed if Jared succeeded, filled me with a deep gnawing fear.
