Chapter 1 - Who Am I

"Mom?" I could hear her yelling at someone behind us.

"It's ok sweetie just follow me, Ok?" She whispers in my ear before taking my hand to guide me away from the outside doors that are slowly breaking in. Outside I could hear people screaming bloody murder and crashes like a big fight was going on.

"Okay" I say and let her drag me to where I hope was somewhere safe. Then someone crashes through the big wood doors in front of us.

"A BOMB RUN!" They yell at us as they slam the doors and run towards us. I feel my mother grab my arm to throw me to the ground.

"BEEP, BEEP, BEEP" the alarm clock sounds as I start waking up

I scream, my eyes shoot open and I sit up right. Another nightmare, I thought after calming down. I sit on the edge of my queen size bed. My parents had left yesterday for a business trip and wouldn't be back until supposedly the next week.

I stood up and looked at the person in my long mirror that sat across from my bed. All I could see was a disheveled, sweaty, and scared little girl. I shook my head to help clear my thoughts and started to get ready for school. My name is Christina Marie Lynn. My age is 17, I am a senior and I live in Port Lions, Alaska, which has a population of 1800 people. The school has about 300 highschool students and is a decent sized school.

I went into my bathroom and grabbed my make-up, hairbrush, toothbrush and toothpaste. I first brushed my teeth, then I did my hair in bubble braids, and finally put on some concealer, mascara, and lip gloss. I looked in the mirror and was satisfied with the girl that I was staring at, long brown hair reaching my mid-back with pink and blond highlights, clear ocean blue eyes, five foot five with long legs, weighing one hundred and thirty-five pounds.

However, something did look different: my eyes were a lot more blue than usual, almost like an electric blue, I pushed the thought away. I put on black ripped jeans with a white tank top and red flannel. I grabbed my bag, a warm jacket, and my wallet that were by the door and went down my driveway to the bus stop. When I got to the stop I saw it was a cool winter day with the sun just starting to peek over the mountains that surrounded us. I had decided to walk to school instead since I was feeling nice and energetic. I was walking through the peaceful neighborhood when I heard a rustling from the woods next to me. I started to pick up the paste getting a little nervous and when I noticed the noise was following me I sprinted into town. When I looked back down the street I came from I saw two big brown eyes staring at me from the tree line. I rushed to school and made it just in time.

When I got to class everyone greeted me. I was the captain of the cheerleading team, I led us to victory multiple times and also did NYO when the season was over doing my best to get better. It was like any normal day. I sat there and looked at everyone while smiling, even though I was terrified about what happened on the way coming here. Then I noticed the teacher started doing roll call.

"Rylee Besteroff," she called.

I looked at my best friend, Rylee. Her long blond hair cascaded over her shoulders like a beautiful waterfall of gold. When we stood together, we stood at the same height and we looked a lot alike. The only real difference was our hair and our nose. We are both seniors in high school and the same exact age, date and time, our birthday's tomorrow. The teacher called a couple more names before I heard another one of my friends.

"Alyssa Thompson"

I looked over and saw her raise her hand. She stands at five foot four, has medium-length, raven black hair, and chocolate brown eyes. From what I remember she's a sophomore. Then I heard from the teacher, my last friend that's in the same class as me.

"Sam Nelson"

Sam stood up and did a silly pose. I hate to admit it but she's the funny one in the group. She has short light brown hair that reaches just below her shoulders, brown eyes, and braces. She's a sophomore, like Alyssa except she's a year younger, she ended up skipping a grade in middle school. After the teacher finished roll call, the class finally started at nine o'clock. I had math and then history before there was a 30 minute break since the teachers had an emergency meeting. Some classes met in the gym. I was stretching by the wall to practice some cheers with Rylee when we heard the announcement.

"Attention everyone, we have just heard the news of a blizzard about to hit. All students please report to the cafeteria for roll call and to be sent home, thank you."

I ran to my friends thinking finally we could spend the night in the school as we planned. When I got to them, I saw the rest of the group waiting for me.

There was Melea Schutte, who had dyed her short hair blue to match her rebellious personality. She was the same height as me but more athletic.

Next to her was Emmie Kellen, the smallest of us all but also the smartest. She had long brown hair with some highlights that contrasted with her light blue eyes.

Then there was Elijah Smith, who was always shy and quiet around strangers but funny and loyal around us. He had short blonde hair and blueish-gray eyes that reflected his gentle nature. He was pale and skinny because he spent most of his time indoors reading books or playing video games with Brent Weston.

Brent was sitting down in the middle of the group fake pouting because he wanted to play more games before we had to leave school early due to the blizzard warning. He had short inky black hair that matched his mischievous grin and emerald-green eyes that sparkled with curiosity. Jake Weston was pretending to beat up Brent. They are identical twins the only way to tell the difference is if you learned about their personalities.

Last, but not least, my middle school crush Matt Feric. He stands at six foot four, he has short brown, a perfectly chiseled face with zero acne, and deep beautiful chocolate brown eyes. ugh so dreamy. He works out a lot, he's a senior, and he's captain of the basketball team that I cheer for. After getting to them I said "Let's go hide in the bathrooms. Maybe they will forget about us."

"Wait, guys, I can't go," Elijah said, sounding nervous. "My mom will be pissed. I'm sorry, you guys go have fun though."

"Ok well, we'll see you later then!" I yelled knowing he just didn't want to stay here and wanted to go home and play video games.
