I have a dream, It's a unique one, I'll admit that. It's not like others, I didn't want to get rich or famous, I didn't want to save lives, I didn't even want to have a family of my own.
Don't get me wrong, those things would be amazing to have, but, they aren't needed for my aspirations.
In this world, the sky is fake. Not in the sense that it doesn't exist, but in the sense that there's nothing beyond it. We've been told over and over that the sky is the limit, and people just seem to accept that, and I was expected to just believe that. No, I wouldn't.
Was my mother's research just for nothing? Was I expected to accept that her life's work was just a waste of time and brains?
She told me about something she saw when she was 8, a pure white light glistening high in the sky, higher than any hober-car, higher than any airplane could fly, higher than any jet-pack, higher than any particle phase shifter. Higher than imaginable, a light so beautiful that it was permanently ingrained into her brain just by glancimg at it for a few seconds.
She asked of anyone knew what it, some said it was just holographic advertisements, communication beacons, others thought she was kidding, she even tried asking for the name, but to no avail. So, she gave it one. Big Super Shiny White Traingle Thingy..... or BSSWT for short. I just decided to call it Foreign diamond, for 3 three reasons. One, it's a foreign existence, so, foreign is obvious. Second, apparently it looked like a diamond, and third is because it's ridiculously shorter. FD, to make it even shorter.
My mother was..... unique, as a child. That's besides the point. She was described as if a goldfish transmigrated into the body of a genius... funny enough, that's an actual novel, actually, there are a lot of weird novels these days... that's besides the point.
She'd always build the most complex but stupid machines. A fishing rod that instantly kills anything that bites it, a plasm pistol with built-in speakers...the list goes on.
I really did admire her. Her good parts at least.
Anyway. She's the main reason for my dream.
My dream is simple. I want to explore beyond the blue sky, see what my mother dedicated her life for, see the apparent beauty of the FD. I want to see it all.
The quote the 'Sky's the limit' is a perfect example of this. It means that there in nothing stopping someone being successful.
That quote was one of the many inspirations for this dream. I don't remember who actually came up with it, probably someone forgettable.
Maybe once this is over. I can get a hot trophy wife and flaunt her around... maybe win the lottery? I could really use all the free cash
"Haaah." I couldn't help bit sigh I got up from my chair and flopped onto the mattress in the floor, feeling myself sink into the foam.
I stifled a yawn and slowly fell asleep, welcoming the new morning.
