Only a strong-willed person can keep the seat for long. Rachael wondered what Mia meant by that.
Did she mean that the last person on the seat left because she could not withstand it?
"Wait. What do you mean by that, please? I do not understand what you are saying," she asked, curiously waiting for an explanation.
"Don't panic. You just need to be aware of the fact that you need a strong-willed spirit and dedication to keep this seat. You will get a lot of criticism from the CEO, and if you cannot take it, you might quit the job," she informed. "Don't worry, you will be fine. You will adapt to it, soon. I have to head back to work now."
Mia left her to contemplate whether to stay or not. She didn't know if Mia was telling the truth or was only trying to scare her off.
She hadn't seen the CEO before, so it was hard to tell what was the truth and the lie.
She shrugged it off, she could not start her day with a negative vibe. She arranged her things, and put everything in place, ready to begin her day.
She did not know what to do, because she hadn't been given any work yet. She decided to take her documents to the manager but was told that he was not at work that day.
She was asked to take it to the CEO for validation, then she would be given her first task.
As she walked past the offices, heading to the CEO's, she took a deep breath, and knocked on the door, placing her ear on the door to listen to the response.
"Come in."
She arranged herself quickly and went inside. She almost screamed when she entered the office.
It rained luxury! From the decorations to the setting…the table and every other thing in the office was screaming money!
She could guess how much the painting on the wall cost. She had seen it before, and she heard it amounted to 1,000 dollars.
She almost lost herself, staring at the paradise called the office, until she heard his baritone voice call out.
"Who are you?"
The voice reverberated in her head, as she suddenly recollected herself, remembering where she was, and what she came to do.
"Uh..go..good morning, sir. My..my name is Rachael Michael, the new secretary. I was asked to bring these documents to you," she stuttered, feeling ashamed that she almost embarrassed herself in front of the CEO.
It was not her fault. She had not seen such a luxurious room before, and it was a privilege to enter into one.
"Sit."
He got the documents from her and began to flip through it. She sat opposite him, fiddling with her fingers, as she waited for his response.
Aside from getting drowned in the beautiful decor, she was mesmerized by the CEO's natural beauty.
She kept staring at his face, wondering why such a handsome man would hide his face away from the camera.
Could it be that he was shy? Or, was he afraid of the massive attention he would get from women?
As she fantasized about him, his voice, once again, brought her back to reality.
"I see you haven't completed school yet, I wonder how you got into this company," he started. "That aside, how am I sure you can be a competent employee in this company? I'm sure you have heard of this company, so you should understand what I'm asking you," he added.
She felt like the ground would swallow her up in the next second. From the way he spoke to her, she felt like she would not survive her past a day.
She was already doubting her capability, as her self-confidence began to decline.
"I know I have not completed school, but I am confident in my skills. I am certain that I can do this job very well," she said, showing her outer confidence, meanwhile, she was doubting herself.
She wished she could just get out of the office because the atmosphere was thick and suffocating.
"Alright. Here is your task for today. Submit this report before 3 pm, today. You may leave," he said, and she hurriedly left the office, releasing a long sigh.
"Was Mia right?"
Meanwhile, Andrew had feigned to be sick, so he could miss going to work today. He hated that he had to work for Archie when he could have just established his own company.
He could have if he had not squandered his father's wealth. Now, he was left with nothing.
"How do we go about this? I need money, babe."
"Don't worry. My parents want me to get married to that arrogant boss of yours, and I don't even like him at all. It's you I love. It's you I want to get married to. But you know, I have to marry him, so I could divorce him, and take his properties. We would run away together," the 28-year-old blonde lady said.
She spoke so confidently, as though she had everything mapped out already.
She was in love with Andrew, and she didn't see herself, being committed to someone else.
All she cared about now was the money, that was the only reason she was going to accept to marry Archie.
"I know, love. I'm tired of that arrogant and proud man nagging and insulting me. I need to make money again, I need to bring my company back from the ashes to the top, and without money, I cannot do this," he complained, feeling like a weakling.
"It's okay, don't worry. It won't take a lot of time. Soon, we will have money, and be able to run a business together. Once the marriage is finalized between my parents and his, then, everything will be in order. Just be patient, okay?" She assured, patting his back.
"I will make sure to take everything away from you, Archie!" He mumbled.
