Chapter 20 Point Reyes

As Kreed contemplated his situation, he noticed another strange detail.

"Alden, look, look.. over there. There's writing."

As Alden's gaze scanned across the vessel once more, he paused his movement.

Causing Kreed to bump into him.

"Oww".

Then as they both looked at the writing, Alden spoke.

"Kreed, now I want you to be even more cautious." After a quick breath he continued.

"If I remember correctly the name of that vessel is linked to a place in west Oben. And the owner I believe is a well renowned combatant.

So there's definitely something dangerous waiting for us on that boat."

Kreed thought for a while. Alden's words did spook him a little but they didn't change much.

Looking at the writing plasted on the vessels hull Kreed read.

Point Reyes.

What a strange name. Did it perhaps something to do with a military post? From what Kreed knew this was the best conclusion he could think of. Most of the books he read on the world's military, had different post's referred to as points.

Well it didn't make sense thinking of such things now he had to remain focused on the Eire waters that surrounded him.

Following Alden, they continued to approach the vessel.

And not long after they found themselves climbing unto it's stern.

Looking around cautiously, Alden's gaze stumbled upon a pool of red liquid. It was viscous, and thick. A pungent smell of rot permitting from it.

There was no mistaking it. The gory, crimson liquid, scattered across the vessels deck, was blood.

And not just any blood, human blood. Kreed had spent multiple years, cleaning the entire island. So he knew very well what human blood looked, and smelt like.

Looking at Alden Kreed frowned. He had hoped that the gruesome smell and sight would make him change his mind, or at least deter him in some way.

But instead Alden looked enlighted, an uncalled

Smirk, engrossing his lips.

'god damnit.' Suppressing a squeal. Kreed took a step forward and summoned his new relic.

After a few seconds. The metal blade finished manifesting, appearing in Kreed's right hand.

Suddenly his focused and raging mind, was assaulted by an unnatural feeling of calm assurance.

It was almost as if Kreed didn't view his situation as being a dire one anymore. No that wasn't right. It was as if the fear that he had held was being suppressed by a sense of uncaring security.

Well whatever effect the metal blade had on him, he didn't mind. He needed something to calm him anyway.

"Let's go." Said Alden.

....................

Thump.

Far below the vessel, and the suspiciously smooth moat, on which it rested.

Was a simple crack. It wasn't a crack on the oceans bed. No instead the crack appeared to be in the fabric of reality it self. The water around the crack, seeped into it endlessly causing a small vortex beneath the water.

The crack didn't look strange, or artificial. But it emanated a simple felling of profound terror and wrongness.

As the crack continued to exist, the smooth stone moat, that held the vessel in place, moved. It was a little tremble, as if someone had crashed into it. But that wasn't the case.

No far below as the moat continued down to the oceans bed, a pair of round bulging eyes, opened. The creature which had disguised itself as a stone moat was now awake.

It had smelt the appearance of it's new meal, and the raging hunger that it felt was now even more, invigorating.

Well all it would have to do now was wait, the fresh meal would be delivered to it soon enough. So using its own energy would be a waste.

And Soo the pair of bulging eyes closed once again.

Entering the vessel's cabin, two young and brave men, ignorant of what the waters beneath the vessel held, continued to explore.

The cabin of the vessel looked nothing short of repulsive. All that it once held, was now wrecked and mutilated. The little furniture that it housed, was now torn and broken. The walls of the cabin defaced and stained by blood. The open cockpit that housed the vessels engine and controls. We're bent and scratched, the metal sides crooked beyond imagination.

Seeing all this the two intruders were meant to be, scared. And flee for their lives. But that wasn't the case. The two young men were displaying emotions irrelevant to there situation. One of the men, who's long, black and tangled hair covered most of his pale ashy face. Had a distant look in his eyes. It was as if he wasn't present in the situation.

The other man, who had long, spikey silver hair. And Large round golden glasses that concealed his eyes. Was smiling. The smile looked to be that of a confident one, but it looked out of place in this messy and mangled room. After they scouted and talked for a bit the men decided to head below deck.

After climbing down the steep steps littered with blood, the two men entered the hold. The man with the golden glasses summoned a simple glass lantern which illuminated the creepy darkness.

The room looked oddly similar to the cabin above. The contents held beneath was mangled and scavenged. Pools of blood dispersed along the decks surface.

After the men searched the entire room. They began to discuss. Many strange things had stood out to them.

Firstly after reading the various documents that could still be made out. The young men discovered the vessel to be one that had been traveling towards Debajo. They appeared to be transporting a being by the name of Mr Howl.

A local businessman and noble of Oben. Apparently he had connections to the great clan IHOG, and was heading towards Debajo to meet with one of the leaders of the clan.

Another thing they noticed was the time frame in which the vessel was meant to reach Debajo.

According to the records left this ship was meant to reach Debajo at least two months ago. With this new found knowledge the two men made a few new conclusions.

If the ship was meant to head to Debajo which was south why was it here in the south east waters of Oben?

And what about the time frame. Did the deport really open two months ago? If Soo then how was it not registered up till now?

Such inconsistencies would leave most persons, shaken to the core. But the two men standing below deck remained calm. It was as if they were finding the situation more interesting than scary. The only thing that seemed to puzzle them was the absence of anyone.

They had searched the deck and cabin thoroughly but had not found a single body, bone or piece of flesh. The only clue that left no doubt that humans had once inhabited the vessel was the thick, crimson blood that littered it's surface.

But why was there so much of it? No matter where they looked. Was it possible for a human to produce that much blood? Was it even possible for ten humans to produce that much blood? This puzzling question plagued the minds of the two young men. What was capable of draining humans to the point where their blood formed multiple large pools of crimson liquid.

As the two men contemplated the answer to said question. They continued searching for any hope of finding the creature responsible.

They seemed sure that they would ultimately find said being, and very soon as well.
