Annie knelt begging with tears in her eyes, "Christian please, I have no one to run to, I'm pregnant with your baby, our baby..."
"Never say that again! I do not have a child Annie." He said cool but with a lot of anger. He was Christian Powers. A top businessman and multi-billionare, He had chain of industries all over the country. He was one of the 'gods of business' at the age of 26. He was also a number one play boy
"Christian please.." She cried.
"Annie sweetie," He faced the window with a glass of wine in his hand, "You can still stay with me, I can give you a life better than this but I won't take responsibility for that thing." He said calmly and coldly.
"It's not a thing Christian! It's my baby!"
Christian sneered, "Either you abort it and stay with me or you keep it and get lost!"
"Christian how could you say something like this?!" Annie cried her whole face red.
"Whether you like it or not, I won't accept that thing in your belly!" He said so cold, there was no emotion in his voice.
Annie cried harder, "And you said you loved me?" Her eyes were teary and her vision blurry.
Christian smiled but the smile didn't reach his eyes. He turned around to face her, his grey eyes boring holes in her skin. He sighed, dropped his glass on the table and went towards her stooping his self to her level, He cupped her little red face in his large warm hands, "Annie listen," his tone was softer, "I really want you to stay with me but I can't take up the responsibility of that child, I just can't. Listen I'll take you to the best doctor in town, he'll know what to do, nothing will happen to you, just abort the child and move on..."
Annie slapped his hands off, "You want me to kill my unborn baby? Christian don't you have a heart? Have pity if not on me at least pity the unborn child please Christian I beg you." She sobbed loudly.
Christian stood up, "Annie I've said it before and I'm saying it again, either you abort that baby and stay with me or you keep it and get lost." He said with a straight face.
"I don't even have the money to take care of it." She palmed her face and sobbed the more.
Christian smirked feeling satisfied with himself, "It's simple, abort it and take that responsibility off your hands." His smirk turned into a wide grin.
Annie slowly got up staring at him, she seemed to be lost in her thoughts. He shook her head, "No."
Christian frowned, "Sorry?"
"I won't do it Christian, I won't kill my child!" She turned and ran out of the suite as fast as she could.
Christian clenched his fists angrily. In anger he punched the wall, heaving heavily.
Annie kept running towards the entrance. Christian's words kept playing in her head, 'It's simple, abort it and take the responsibility off your hands.'
She reached the entrance of the hotel and cast herself on the ground, her body shook with sobs, her face was wet and eyes were now swollen from too much crying. "I hate you Christian Powers! I hate you!" She sobbed loudly. Her pupils rolled in their sockets almost blacking out but she got a hold of herself, wiped her mouth with her right hand and tried standing up.
She was in a pitiful state, she felt a little dizzy and she remembered she hadn't eaten since morning. She held her rumbling stomach and looked ahead of her. Where would she go from here? Was Christian right in saying she should take the child's responsibility off her hands?
"You could always go back and beg for forgiveness. After all you can't take care of this baby." She heard a gentle voice say.
"No!" She walked with slow unsteady steps towards the gate. Tears walked down her pretty face, she didn't know where to start from. She couldn't go to any of her relatives as they would kick her out of their houses and call her a whore. Her parents were no more, what did she get herself into?
Her head spun and her tummy rumbled, she was beginning to black out.
"Dear God please." She played with her eyes closed. She couldn't go any further, she was going weaker by the moment. She slowly dropped to the ground.
"Hey. Annie? Annie are you alright? Hey.." The voice faded away and everywhere went dark.
*******
Annie opened her eyes slowly. Everything looked blurry. She tried getting up and felt a pain in her head, "Ah!"
"Hey Annie take it easy now." Someone said.
Annie adjusted herself on the bed and rested her head against the wall. "Where am I?" She muttered.
"In safe hands dear."
She turned her head in the direction of the voice, her vision was clear now. She looked at the guy in front of her.
"Robert?" Her eyes teared up again.
Robert smiled at her, "Yes Annie."
"You came back." She managed to say.
"Yeah, I can't leave you to yourself Annie." He sighed, "I'd fail as your brother."
There was silence for a moment.
"Hey Annie what's wrong? Why were you crying, gosh you even passed out!"
She swallowed a lump in her throat and fought the urge to cry. Robert came closer and pulled her in a hug.
" Christian dumped me!" And she broke into fresh tears again.
"Why would he do that?"
"I'm pregnant.... with his child."
Robert gasped, "What? You pregnant?! Annie you slept with him!"
Annie's body shook, "I've gotten myself into a mess now. What am I gonna do?" She cried harder.
Robert was mum for a while, "You keeping the baby?"
Annie wiped her face and nodded with a straight face, "Yes." She gently rubbed her tummy and smiled faintly, "I'll carrying my baby, my child. I'm not losing it. I might have lost Christian but I won't lose my child. I'm keeping it Robert, I'm keeping... it." Her last words were choked and she heaved.
Robert sighed, "Okay." He hugged her, "Everything will be fine." He gently caressed her hair.
Her tummy rumbled. Robert smiled, "It's okay, don't kill yourself over him. You don't need him anyways. You're a brave girl and always will be but for now please for the sake of your baby, eat something. It's not good if your stay hungry."
Annie nodded.
Robert stood up and walked out of the room.
Annie looked down and held her tummy again, "I promise you my child, I'll take care of you, I'll be your everything, you'll never regret not having a father. I might have made a mistake but I'll make everything right. Your father will never see you neither will he come close to you, I'll be your father, mother and everything to you. And for this thing he did to me... he'll never know peace nor will he live in peace. His life will continually be empty. God bear me witness that I've wronged no one. May he avenge my helplessness!" Tears ran down her face but she quickly wiped them off.
She was keeping the child come what may.
