Chapter 23 - 23

The two of them arrived at the famous 'Golden Abundance' in Zone C of the base. As soon as they stepped into the restaurant's door, a beautiful maid greeted them, "Are you here for dining, sirs?"

Upon receiving confirmation, the maid gestured politely, "Please follow me. May I ask about your budget?"

"One million!" Notata extravagantly stated this figure, making himself appear as if he were a dazzling nouveau riche.

Chu Tian was taken aback. One million for a meal???

He walked on the plush leather carpet, which felt like stepping on cotton. It gave him a sense of unease. Wasn't he more suitable for the dirt on the ground?

"Understood." The maid's eyes sparkled with excitement, and she bowed respectfully to the two of them. "I would stake my life on it to ensure that both of you experience something truly unique."

My goodness, isn't that statement a bit too exaggerated? What does she mean by staking her life?

Chu Tian couldn't help but roll his eyes in his mind but maintained his composure. Notata, on the other hand, seemed equally out of his element.

"Please enter. This is a dining environment specially designed for the two of you," the maid respectfully said and opened a nondescript door.

Specially designed? Chu Tian was momentarily stunned, but as he walked in, he realized it wasn't a joke. They found themselves standing on a massive canopy, with a vast expanse of grassland extending before them. The boundless grassland was dotted with sparkling lakes that resembled gemstones. Small creatures occasionally popped their heads out of the sea of grass, and the clear azure sky made one feel truly relaxed and at ease.

A sense of vastness and majesty flowed through Chu Tian's heart. The grassland that could accommodate everything seemed to confirm the way of heaven and earth. It was a grand cycle where everything had light and darkness, life and death. All these cycles were so fascinating.

At this moment, Chu Tian's state of mind had completely transformed from an ordinary city dweller into a great sage who contemplated the world.

"Do the masters prefer dining on the canopy, under the dappled sunlight in the shade of the trees, or by the sparkling lakeside?"

Chu Tian and Notata exchanged glances, and their expressions conveyed their awe and amazement. After a moment of thought, Notata said, "Let's dine under the shade of the trees. The lakeside has some psychological shadows for me."

Chu Tian chuckled and nodded, "Under the shade of the trees, please."

"Please follow me, masters. The suspension bridge is a bit steep, so please be careful," the maid said, descending step by step. As she walked, fluffy clouds formed beneath her feet, making it feel like she was truly walking on clouds.

With the maid's guidance, Chu Tian and Notata took their seats on chairs made of crystal. The seats were cushioned with clouds, providing a nearly weightless comfort that made both of them sigh in relief.

At this moment, a perfectly timed massage from the maids began. Another door opened, and a maid entered, providing massages to each of the two masters.

As this happened, the first appetizer was brought to them. They didn't even have to lift a finger; the maids delivered the dishes right to their mouths.

Chu Tian silently enjoyed the experience, marveling at the incredible power of money.

Meanwhile, at the top floor of the Golden Abundance Tower.

"How is Chu Tian performing?" a person standing in front of a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking everything asked.

"The effect is better than expected. He seems to have resolved some inner conflicts, and most of that intangible resentment has dissipated," a butler-clad individual behind him reported.

"Very good. I'll leave the rest to you."

"Sure."

"I hope your investment won't go down the drain. If it fails again, there might be no hope."

...

After finishing their meal, Chu Tian and Notata walked on the way back home, or more accurately, back to Noah's place. Notata knew in his heart that this time he was benefiting from Chu Tian's status. According to the descriptions online, it would be nothing short of a dream to expect such treatment for just one million.

"Well... it's time to see what missions are suitable for me," Chu Tian smiled at Notata. "Do you have any recommendations?"

"Hmm, let me think," Notata walked and tilted his head, trying hard to search his memory for something.

"Why don't you search for mission code 'Clean-Up' on your terminal? I think not long ago, some big shots went to the outskirts of the base to slaughter bosses. There should still be Clean-Up missions available now."

"Found it," Chu Tian looked at the information projected on his terminal. A detailed mission list appeared in front of him.

Mission Description: Go to the southeast frontline Zone D and kill all the beasts in Zone D. The proof of the beasts is their right ear; for those without ears, use their tail.

Mission Deadline: Until there are no more beasts in Zone D.

Mission Rewards: Killing an E-level beast rewards ten thousand, D-level rewards one hundred thousand, C-level rewards five hundred thousand, one Grade 3 Spirit Crystal, and more...

Additional Notes: This mission can be accepted individually or by a legion. There are no A-level or higher beasts in Zone D. Zone D consists of special terrains: urban areas, swamps, deserts, lakes, rivers, large forests, and misty forests.

Mission Initiator: Mercenary Alliance.

"Oh, this mission," Notata glanced at it and continued walking.

"This mission is quite good because it's initiated by the alliance, so there are no withdrawal fees. Plus, the place is relatively safe, suitable for a C-level newcomer like you to have some adventures. But remember, under no circumstances should you enter Zone AB; the beasts there are mostly B-level and above."

Notata led Chu Tian to his building. "15th floor, room 03. Use your terminal to record the location. Although this thing doesn't work well outside the base, it's definitely useful inside."

Chu Tian nodded and recorded the location of Noah's home. Then, he accepted the mission. A map appeared before him, showing a red line indicating a route and a rough sketch of the peripheral base divided into six major areas. Only ABC areas were precisely marked, while even the D area he was going to had some vague representation.

The peripheral base was divided into six areas, with the frontline dividing them into thirds. The ABC areas were near the frontline, and the DEF areas were farther away.

Among them, the ABC areas had already been thoroughly cleaned, while the DEF area was quite dangerous.

"Noticed your eagerness. Are you leaving now?" Notata looked at Chu Tian and asked.

"Yes, I want to set off as soon as possible. I have everything prepared," Chu Tian said, clenching his fists in excitement.

"In that case, I won't accompany you. I just returned, and my injuries haven't fully healed yet," Notata waved his hand, took a few steps, and suddenly turned back.

"Here, take this. Remember to come back alive!"
