Chapter 77 - Rising tensions

In the dimly lit throne room of the central fortress, Demon Lord Buki stood before a vast window, staring into the stormy horizon. The atmosphere crackled with tension as dark clouds swirled ominously above the castle. A shadowy figure emerged from the corner, her presence cold and foreboding.

"Lord Buki," the figure spoke, kneeling respectfully.

"We've received word that Demon Lord Achlys has been defeated by Alien King: Yuma and the Alliance." Buki's expression darkened, her fists clenching at her sides.

"Fool! Achlys underestimated them, just as I did… He was supposed to weaken the Alliance, not bolster their resolve." Buki turned, her eyes blazing with fury.

"Increase the bounties on Alien King and his crew… Make it clear that any who aid them will face my wrath. I want them hunted down—no mercy. They've stirred a fire in the hearts of those beneath us, and we cannot allow it to grow." The figure nodded, quickly retreating to carry out the order. As the door shut, Buki's expression shifted from anger to a calculating calm.

"Yuma, you think you've won? You've only fueled my determination. The storm you've stirred will soon consume you."

Meanwhile, in a stark, sterile war room beneath the World Government's headquarters, the three remaining Admirals convened around a massive holographic map displaying various territories, including the latest movements of Yuma and the Grand Fleet.

Admiral Ryker Valor, crackling with electrical energy, leaned forward, his voice sharp.

"We've let them grow too strong. With Demon Lord Achlys out of the way, we can't afford to hesitate any longer. It's time to strike." Admiral Fuyumi Vlast, her muscular frame imposing, crossed her arms.

"But they just defeated a Demon Lord. They're emboldened. We need a plan—rushing in recklessly could cost us everything." Elara Vex, with her icy demeanor, nodded in agreement.

"We must exploit their vulnerabilities. Alien King: Yuma has a team, but they are still human, and their morale is likely high. We can use that against them… If we divide them, we can take them down one by one." Ryker smirked, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Then we target them separately… Each Admiral can take a piece of the Alliance while the others handle Alien King: Yuma. It's time we show them the true might of the World Government." Fuyumi uncrossed her arms, a fierce determination in her eyes.

"We won't let their newfound courage blind us. We'll plan meticulously, ensuring we strike at the right moment." Elara gestured toward the map, freezing a section that marked the last known location of Yuma's fleet.

"We'll use their victories as bait. They'll be eager to respond, thinking they're still in control. We'll lure them into a trap." As the three Admirals began to outline their strategy, the air crackled with tension and anticipation. Each understood the stakes; failure was not an option. The hunt was on, and they would not rest until Yuma and the Grand Fleet were brought to their knees.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of green and purple across the sky, Yuma sat at the edge of the island, the salt air whipping through his hair. He stared out at the endless ocean, lost in thought. The distant sound of waves crashing against the shore was a soothing backdrop to his restless mind.

Moon approached quietly, his presence as calm as the twilight sky. He stood beside Yuma, both of them gazing at the horizon where the sea met the sky.

"It feels different this time," Moon said softly, breaking the silence.

"Like a storm is brewing." Yuma nodded, his brow furrowed.

"After everything we've faced, it's hard to shake the feeling that something worse is coming… I defeated Achlys, but it only seems to have made them more determined." Moon glanced at him, his expression thoughtful.

"Do you regret it? The path we've taken?" Yuma's heart tightened.

"No. We've made mistakes… choices that have cost the lives of the innocent... But… If it means I can take down the World Government and provide peace to the world…?" Yuma pauses. Exhaling and looking away.

"Like Kuza… He wanted to unite the world in peace, and I'll do that and make his dream come true since he isn't able to" A strong aura pours off Yuma's eyes as Moon sighs.

"You concern me sometimes" Yuma looked down, fists clenching at his sides.

"I thought we were doing the right thing, but now… it feels like we're just drawing more danger to ourselves… The danger is coming to me, I no longer have to find them and destroy them myself!" Moon remained silent for a moment, then spoke, his voice steady.

"You can't carry the weight of the past alone. We all chose this fight, and we all bear the consequences. But we can't let regret dictate our future." Yuma turned to face Moon, their eyes locking.

"You don't think we can win this war? That we won't come out of it intact?" Moon's gaze was unwavering.

"I believe in us. But it won't be easy… The world is changing, and so must we… We have to prepare for what's ahead, not just physically but mentally… We need to remember why we fight." Yuma looked back at the horizon, the waves now crashing more violently.

"For freedom. For those who can't fight for themselves… we'll do that even if it means the death of innocent lives… their deaths provide a path for us to make future generations free" Moon goes silent, unsure of how to respond.

As the last rays of sunlight disappeared, Yuma felt a renewed sense of purpose. The battle ahead would be tough, but with his crew beside him, he was ready to face whatever came next.

"Thanks, Moon," Yuma said, a small smile returning to his lips.

"I needed that."

"Anytime. Now let's figure out our next move... The future of the Grand Fleet depends on it." With that, the two turned away from the ocean.
