Amanda walked into the center of the lighted warehouse carrying the suitcase containing the money as they wanted.
The man who had called Amanda was now standing in front of her, watching Lucas as they tied him to a chair. Smiling in satisfaction that Amanda had brought the money they had asked for.
"Mama!!!" called Lucas.
"Lucas! Oh thank God you're okay. I was so worried!" said Amanda, relieved to see her son back.
"Bring the suitcase, then you can get your son back," said the big man.
"Take it." Amanda held out her hand, giving him the suitcase. "But before that, Lucas dear, can you close your ears and eyes and sing the song that Mama used to sing to you? Don't stop until Mama asks you to, understand?"
Lucas nodded, because of his bound upper arms, he could still bend down to cover his ears and start singing. "You're my sunshine... My only sunshine."
