Chapter 19 - The Adam Shen

"Azalea. Are you okay? Do you feel pain anywhere? Do you want some water…Doctor. Let me call the doctor." Adam fuzzled, not knowing what to do.

Alice, seeing her son-in-law, had no option but to make him sit back on his chair, "Let me get the doctor. Stay with her." Alice smiled at her daughter, before giving them some privacy.

Once Alice left the room, Azalea took off the oxygen mask, taking a closer look at Adam. How pale and sickly he looked, even more than her. Under the moonlight entering from the window, his dark eyes shone up, reflecting the silver moonlight. Like a lake reflecting the night sky, drawing her closer. Was he always this beautiful or was she hallucinating?

Adam, on the other hand, clasped her hand tightly, afraid of letting go; afraid of losing her again; afraid that this time he would be too late. This time Alice didn't refute his hand, instead she held back. The warm hand felt nice.

Noticing that Adam couldn't help but tear up. This was the first time she had not denied his advances instead she was letting him hold her, especially after the traumatic event she went through. He wrapped his arms around her shoulder as the guilt took over. He promised himself there would be no next time for someone who tried to hurt her.

"Oi love birds! Do your romance later. Let me check up on her." Ashton yelled, glaring at both and pushing Adam away from Azalea like a protective brother.

Alice sighed at her son's hopelessness but didn't argue. She took Adam out of the room to make sure he ate something. At first, he refused but after Azalea encouraged him, he left.

Ashton glanced at his sister, her gaze directed towards the door from where Adam left, her gaze soft and lovestruck. Her cheeks glowed a cherry tint. Ashton sighed, she was down bad for him.

He just checked her vitals and after finding everything normal, Ashton casually asked, "You like him, don't you?"

Azalea's pupils dilated in shock, and flusters took over her, "W-what like! Don't speak nonsense. Why will I like him!" She fumbled trying to deny the accusations but it only made Ashton more sure about it.

"I see." Ashton nodded, letting out a smirk, and left.

Seeing him smile, somehow irked Azalea, "I said No! Why are you smiling? Bro! Oldie! Come back!" Azalea tried to argue but Ashton left the room, closing the door behind him.

Azalea grumbled in defeat, laying back down on the bed, wondering whether what Ashton said was true or not. She huffed, "No way. He is just teasing me. There is no way I will fall in love with someone." She tried to console herself.

Next day…

"Lea!!!" The door flashed open with Diane rushed in with her arms open about to hug her, when a tall guy held her back from behind. "Honey, she is injured." The man remarked, gently smiling at Diane.

Azalea scoffed in disgust at the couple, why was it that every time they appeared together the air turned too sweet? Diane pouted with puppy eyes, gazing at the man before averting her gaze to Azalea.

"Lea, do you know how scared we were? Rein and I was out of town when your mother called saying what happened. That jerk!" Diane spoke, sitting down on the stool and holding her hand.

Azalea quietly listened to her rants as the memories of that night flashed in her mind. Somewhere it was not new for her, knowing Daniel that's how he would have reacted no matter what.

Rein put his hand over Diane's shoulder to make her stop blurting something harsh. He glanced at Azalea, putting the bouquet they brought by the side table. "Get well soon, Azalea. I will let you two talk. I am downstairs, honey, call me and I will pick you up." With that Rein left the room leaving the two friends to talk.

"Diane, tell me what happened to him?" Azalea inquired, curious. She doesn't remember anything after Adam saved her.

"Don't tell me you're still thinking of that jerk?! Azalea, he hurt you. How can you still not get over him!" Diane started yelling.

"No! I just want to know what happened. I am already over him." Azalea refuted her friend's words and rolled her eyes that they still think she was lovestruck him.

Diane squinted her eyes, watching Azalea suspiciously at the end giving up and opening her mouth to speak again, "We don't know. By the time the Police arrived, he fled the scene. There was no hint where he went. Forget about him. I thought he was just a jerk but no he was worse than that." Diane cussed, gritting her teeth in fury.

"Anyway, enough about that cursed being." Diane waved her hand, her eyes glistening with curiosity, "I heard you got married. That too not just anyone but Adam Shen. The Adam Shen. How did this happen so soon? We met only a week ago."

Azalea bit her lip, a bit hesitant. If she tells Diane the guy at the bar they met last time was none other than Adam Shen, whom she kissed that night and got hitched on the day she had this accident, how would she react? Will she call her crazy and start ranting?

Azalea cleared her throat, "I will tell but first tell me how is he?"

Diane's brows fuzzled together, suspicious at her friend's question. "Well, in the business world, he is known as an excellent businessman. The Shen family is infamous for their privacy. Not much is known. For Adam, well he never had many rumors, just a few which were proved false. He is private except for showing his face only for company press conferences." Diane answered, rubbing her chin as she tried to remember every detail on it. "I don't know if this rumor is true or not but many think they rule the underground and even have hands-on politics…"
