"Sir. You have a meeting with the investor in a few minutes." Adam replied and was held back by the knock from his secretary.
The secretary was well aware that entering those closed doors would be the perfect way to get himself secondhand embarrassment.
Adam spared a glance at the woman, who had a triumphant smile plastered on her lips as if she knew that the meeting meant her escape.
"Alright, Make them sit in the meeting room," Adam instructed, squatting on the ground, right in front of her and staring up at her as if she was the most precious treasure to him his eyes adorned her.
Azalea's heart skipped a beat as she quickly changed and held onto those little butterflies in her stomach.
"You can stay here, I will ask Steven to get you some pastries you like. After the meeting, we can go out and have dinner and talk it out."
Azalea was stunned at his words, he was not planning to let her go. "Are you crazy? This is illegal! I can call the police on you." Azalea yelled, trying to use all her strength to break free.
Adam looked at the woman sitting on the chair who was on the verge of a breakdown. At the end, he sighed, "I will untie you but I will only listen to your advice about the marriage only during dinner. Completely your choice." Adam remarked, freeing her hand and walking across the room to the table taking out the first-aid box from the drawer, and putting on a bandage on the bite mark to cover it up.
Azalea gritted her teeth in defeat and slumped to the sofa as her eyes trailed Adam walking out of the room, his head held high. The aura around him had shifted from when he had crouched down before her. Those little tingling butterflies in her stomach and pounding heartbeat every time he looked into her eyes were strange.
"Stop thinking weird Azalea. You can't be delusional. After today you never meet him or have this talk again." Azalea reminded herself, clasping her fingers tightly.
It was already dark by the time Adam was done with his meeting and stuff. He anxiously hastened towards the direction of his office afraid she might have already left. Adam opened the door to his office; the room was dimmed with only a source of light coming from the French window.
Adam sighed in disappointment seeing the empty room. He briskly approached the sofa she was sitting on earlier. Suddenly his eyes widened, and a wicked smile appeared on his face. Adam crouched down on the sofa, staring at the sleeping figure on the sofa.
Adam brushed away a few of her hair strands from her face. How strange, she was all defensive when awake but now she was all asleep like a kitten with no care in the world.
Azalea's eyelids moved at the warm touch. Instinctively, her eyes shot open, sitting up straight. Her vision was still hazy from sleep.
"Awake?" Azalea nodded at Adam's question, rubbing her eyes like a baby.
"What do you want to eat?" Adam was further intrigued by her innocent persona and decided to ask. "Ramen." Azalea instinctively remarked, her mouth drooling at the thought even though her eyes were still closed and sleepy.
Adam smiled, patting her head before quietly calling his secretary into the room and asking him to get some ramen. Till then Azalea fell back on the sofa and went to sleep.
Azalea didn't know how long she had been asleep, she remembered a hazy dream of someone asking her what to eat and her reply was ramen. Somehow the smell of the ramen from her favorite place lingered around the tip of her nose. Her stomach growled at the smell as she looked around the unfamiliar room when her gaze shifted to the man busy working at his desk. The golden-rimmed glasses he was wearing and the messy hair unlike the day had its charm to it.
"Awake?" The man asked without sparing any glances. Flushed, Lea averted her eyes and nodded, "How long have I been asleep?"
"A few hours," Adam answered, taking off his glasses getting up from his desk going to the seating arrangement, and sitting beside her. "Here." Adam unpacked the warm thermos on the coffee table and poured the ramen into the bowl.
Azalea was puzzled at the bowl of ramen. She thought it was just a dream…and even if it was not, how did he know what topping or broth she liked or the fact she only visits that shop for ramen?
"I asked your mom." As if Adam understood her suspicion and answered. Making her hold chopsticks. Azalea sighed in defeat, her stomach was already growling at the smell even if he was having psychopath plans, it was better to die in a full stomach than empty.
Azalea took a bite of the ramen and every weird thought and suspicion she had for Adam left her mind. Only the thought of that hot ramen filled every inch of her mind, her mouth instantly started devouring, ignoring everything.
Adam smiled at her eating, he poured himself a bowl and tried it out. Surprisingly it was good. The soft velvety flavor of the broth mixed with the chili and scallion oil poured on top of the ramen was just a heavenly combo. No wonder his cat was lost in eating.
It didn't take long for Azalea to finish her bowl of ramen in satisfaction, with her stomach filled to the brim. Every worry in her mind left. Even if she died now she has no regrets. She leaned back on the sofa comfortably, and with lazy eyes, she glanced at the man sitting by her side and cleaning the table.
Suddenly a thought passed her mind,' Maybe it wouldn't be that bad of an idea to marry him…"
