Chapter 3 - Long Dream

Some treasures in the mystical realm can help cultivators evolve their spiritual roots, so they can able to absorb additional types of Qi, but those treasures are so rare that, can't be sold for money.

Ye Fei's spiritual root was extremely rare type with all elements, which makes it possible to cultivate all kinds of elemental Qi from heaven and earth.

But in this world, the quality of spiritual roots was far more important than their type. The better the quality of someone's spiritual root, the better their talent for their Qi cultivation would be and the lesser the resources they need. Most civilians only had damaged-quality spiritual roots that weren't suitable for cultivation, the poor-quality spiritual root was just slightly better than that.

With poor-quality spiritual roots, someone can barely cultivate spiritual Qi. Ye Fei can only improve her cultivation base up to the final stage of the Qi gathering realm by spending her whole life, which is the very first step for the journey of immortality.

Anything more than that will cost lots of resources. The lower the quality of one's spiritual root, the higher the difficulty they have to face when one breaks through to the next realms.

Spiritual root quality was another important factor in making a contract with spiritual beasts. Spiritual beasts were beasts who were capable of cultivating a spiritual Qi from the moment they were born.

The grade of these spiritual beasts will be varied depending on the quality of their inheritance of an ancient bloodline.

They were classified by twelve grades, from grade 1 being weakest to grade 12 being strongest.

In the mortal world, grade 6 spiritual beasts were strongest, since from grade 7, spiritual beasts were considered to be heavenly beasts, which can only be captured by immortals.

Each grade is divided into further five categories by their power level and growth potential, such as common, uncommon, rare, elite, and super-elite. Some rumors say, there is a spiritual beast with power beyond this category, but no one believed it, since no one ever managed to make contact with a beast more powerful than super-elite spiritual beasts.

Cultivators who made contracts with the spiritual beasts will show an immense growth rate compared to cultivators with no spiritual beasts due to their sharing of spiritual Qi and additional battle power.

Even common grade 6 matured spiritual beasts can rival the strength of half-immortal to a certain degree.

Spiritual beasts were so important for cultivators, especially for the Ye family since they obtained their position due to their talent for nurturing spiritual pets.

With Ye Fei's poor-quality spirit root, she could only make a contract with one common grade 1 spiritual beast.

That's another reason for the Ye family's disgust towards Ye Fei.

She can't do anything but watch her surroundings slowly become silent as people go from the market.

Finally, she was the only one in the market area. She flipped her body with tremendous difficulty and looked at the moon that starting to show its appearance in the sky. She couldn't maintain her consciousness, as she closed her eyes.

She got a fever due to her untreated wounds. Her body temperature shot up.

That night, she had a peculiar dream. She dreamed of the life of a certain man, who lived in a world unlike anything Ye Fei had ever seen. Unlike her, that man was born into an ordinary family and lived an ordinary life. His world doesn't have any cultivators, all of them were mortals without any cultivation knowledge.

During his teens and early twenties, he dedicated his life to RPG games before dying suddenly in an accident. He was an Indian pro gamer. His main ID was in a beast tamer class.

He won a lot of competitions with his different strategies based on different situations. The perfect execution of each of his meticulous plans never ceased to amaze Ye Fei.

He played his game with pure passion despite being mocked by his parents, relatives, and friends for his pure dedication and determination for his passion.

In a way-, it was like Ye Fei lived that man's life through his dream. She learned of that world's history and culture with that man at school. She learned of an art named "Science," something that didn't exist in her world.

In that man's world, buildings were made of something called reinforced concrete. They had motor vehicles instead of carriages and mounts.

The majority of her dreams were vague and nonsensical, yet this dream in particular was so vivid and real, that it almost seemed entangled with reality itself. It even made her wonder if the life she had accepted as reality was, in fact, a dream, and the man she thought he dreamed of was her true self.

It made her think perhaps she didn't truly exist, and her entire life was nothing but a dream the man saw in his final moments.

What affected her most was Sacred Relic named Anime which is a video documentary of different worlds with different kind of people and their cultivation methods.

In some worlds, they cultivated their primordial Qi as chakra, and Spiritual Qi as natural energy, in some worlds, they cultivated spiritual Qi in their soul form, in some worlds, people cultivated demonic Qi in simplified and profound form of witchcraft, in the name of curse energy. In this particular world, people created their way to directly connect themself with an astral word for project elemental Qi in exchange for their lifespan with a method called breathing techniques.

None of these worlds had a concept of cultivation and a path to immortality. They created their own systematic ways to become powerful with their short meager lifespan.

In some words, mortals fought against giants who were so many times bigger than them with pure mortal strength.

Without any Spiritual Qi, they developed a lot of weapons with a mysterious art called science.

From a young age, Ye Fei heard a lot of stories about immortals who fought against heaven, she thought those immortals were so courageous and admired them, but now, she felt like a frog inside the well.

All of those people she saw through Sacred Relic, fought against heaven's wrath their way, with their mortal bodies. They won with their unwavering courage and the sacrifices of their precious ones.

One thing was common in all the words, humans were unstoppable, no matter what, they always moved forward, and they found their way to climb to the top.

Ye Fei thought they were the ones who truly qualified to become immortals.
