Xin Yue stood before Lei Junshan, holding up the final outfit for his inspection. The fabric shimmered subtly under the light, a fine blend of tradition and modern elegance. Yet, as she waited for his response, it wasn't the outfit in her hands that seemed to hold his attention. Lei Junshan's eyes were fixed on her, a strange intensity in his gaze that made her heart quicken despite the sadness still weighing it down.
After a long, silent moment, Lei Junshan finally spoke. "I like this one," he said, his voice measured but with an edge of something more. He continued, "I like it a lot. It's different from the others."
Xin Yue felt a flutter of something indefinable in her chest as his words hung in the air. But then, just as quickly, that flutter was crushed by his next words.
"But," Lei Junshan added, his tone cooling, "it doesn't have the class that I require. So, I'll go with the black one."
