He felt the magical power inside his body getting empty, at an alarming rate at that. That might be the last thing he was expecting to happen but he had no other option. He needed to go back by almost a century here. The amount of magic needed to do that was immeasurable at this point. He doesn't even have a scale to compare it with anything else to get a hold of how much magic he ended up spending to do that.
'Going back gonna be a pain in the ass.' Orion murmured as he was still feeling his body was getting drained of his magic.
He couldn't see anything when he entered the portal, the portal wasn't exactly a portal but more like a time machine, after entering Orion had to put magic, the more he put the farther he could go back in time.
After 5 minutes of feeding the Time Portal, he finally felt that this was it.
When he planned to get back in time, the hardest part wasn't coming up with a way to do that or producing that much power to do that. But instead, the hardest part was to locate where he was going.
It's pretty hard to figure out how to use this makeshift time machine, it's not like he had a remote control or a pre-programmed system to tell the portal to send him to a specific time.
So, he had to keep the order to be executed by the portal as simple as possible, meaning he couldn't directly open a portal where Eric was supposed to be. He will remain in the same place just go back in time.
But that was fine, he wouldn't at all mind travelling a little bit in past, what he minded was that he had to manually calculate how much magic he needed to go back to a certain time.
'It's a bitch, that extreme calculation reminded him why he hate maths so much, and here is the kicker, he is not even sure that his calculation is correct.
How is he supposed to know how much magic he will need to go back to a certain time? His best reference point is the time turner, for this reason, he tested out that clock and figured out how much magic that blasted thing needed to go back to a certain time. All his calculations were based on that, he only hoped that this would work…
Soon he felt that the drain on his magic was lowering to the point that he was slightly running out of magic, this was his clue to stop pouring his magic in the portal and wait for the gate of the past to open up.
And sure enough, it did happen, the portal opened up in the same forest he set up to travel from. It was the same forest he used to live in before attending Hogwarts. For some reason, he still was quite attached to this place even after years had gone by since he lived there.
Another reason he chose this place is because he knew that this particular place had always been abandoned for the longest time. This was undoubtedly the best place to use the Time Machine, even if he went to the pre-historic period by any mistake he was sure that this place would be safe to land.
As he set foot outside in the forest, he felt a familiar yet unfamiliar feeling with this place.
He felt a little dizzy thanks to the sudden loss of the majority of his magical power.
'That will take some time to replenish.' Orion can't help but complain about this. He knew that with a large magical capacity, the only pain in the ass was the refinement time.
He had a terrible amount of mana since he came back from Fate World. To the point that the last attack he performed against Morgana didn't even put a dent in his reserves.
And now that save reserves were almost empty. It will take time to refill that magic for him. Even his body has a limit on how much magic it can absorb from the surrounding atmosphere on its own.
'However, it's completely a different thing if I were to go around and absorb magic from others.' Orion pondered and then just gave up the idea.
Right now he didn't need that magical power.
In some cases, it is actually better that he has less of it, it was the best opportunity to train and gain his magical control back, with his calculation it will take a few months for his body to completely refill his magic, yes he had that much magic, it was the golden time to get back at grinding.
'Sigh, been a while since I ground for just getting stronger or better, nowadays I just seem to be banging my head to bring that old man back somehow…'
After laminating for a few seconds he got motivated again, ready to get going. The training was fine and all, he can't wait to get those reps in but before that, there were more important things to do, like figure out when he is exactly.
Even with this less magic in his tank, flying was always an option for him, but he didn't want to do any magic for the time being, this place wasn't under the Magical Britain but just a muggle area, even after being a forest.
So he rather not do magic if not absolutely necessary.
'Alright, let me think, the city should be to the east from here, I just hope that the city I am used to exists at this time, whatever this time is…' Orion got going, he knew that he didn't have much spare time on his hands.
