Chapter 147 - Chapter 147 : Flash Back 3 (Bonus Chapter)

(Flash Back Continue)

Harry sat alone in his room at Grimmauld Place, the weight of grief heavy upon his shoulders. The loss of Hermione had left a void in his heart that seemed impossible to fill, her absence a constant reminder of the darkness that loomed over their world.

Harry was a late bloomer of sorts, he didn't much care about love and all until much later, so there was no way for him to realize that Hermione liked him.

But last year it was different. In the fourth year, he for the first time saw Hermione as someone more than just a friend. He didn't do anything though. By the 5th year, he felt that there was something between them.

But under so much pressure from Umbridge and suddenly the absence of Dumbledore, he didn't even have time to explore those feelings.

He regrets it, he should have told her how he felt, but ...

Now there is no way, she is gone. It pains him even more that Hermione too liked him. Sometimes he thinks that he should never have received this memory from Hermione. At least he could have taken solace in the fact that it was just a one-sided love.

That he was the only one whose heart was broken, but there was no going back now.

As he stared into the flickering flames of the fireplace, Harry's thoughts turned to Voldemort – the one responsible for Hermione's death. Anger boiled within him, a seething fury that threatened to consume him whole. How could he ever hope to defeat the Dark Lord when his own power seemed so insignificant in the face of such evil?

He was there when both Voldemort and Dumbledore fought, there was nothing but despair in his eyes after seeing that level of destructive power.

How he is supposed to take revenge for Hermione? How can he kill that man who even Dumbledore couldn't?

Well, Dumbledore could but Harry didn't know that Dumbledore was holding back.

And then once again he felt the weight of his own weakness. Looking at his hands, he felt Hermione staring him in the eyes while giving her memories of him back then.

He saw how her body went cold while he himself got all her warmth and feeling with her memories.

Slowly gritting his teeth, a trail of tears fell. Right now he needed nothing, nothing but a way to kill Voldemort and Bellatrix.

He wasn't sure but there was a darkness bubbling inside him. Every time for some reason he thinks about this weakness, he is reminded of the time he used the killing curse.

He felt that power and just couldn't remove it from his head. It was like The Ring from Lord OF The Rings. It's a mess with his head.

And ultimately, Harry couldn't take it anymore. His desire for power reached its height when the news of Voldemort taking control of the ministry came.

Dumbledore was being pressured to go after Voldemort by others but he couldn't leave his castle, he had to protect the students.

But ultimately that was nothing but excuses. He wasn't acting because it wasn't his destiny. It was Harry's.

Dumbledore at first didn't realize but the corruption inside Harry's heart was increasing. The desire for power started to make Harry desperate.

And thus his rise and downfall started.

As Dumbledore only had a hint of Harry's descent into the depths of dark magic, a pang of concern gripped his heart, he couldn't say what was going on with Harry. there was no trace of Dark magic on him, but Dumbledore had this feeling that something was not right.

Though he understood the young wizard's desire for vengeance, he knew all too well the dangers that lurked in the shadows of such power.

Harry's determination to defeat Voldemort at any cost was admirable, but Dumbledore feared that the child of prophecy was going dark.

And Dumbledore would have long stopped Harry, but never felt the dark magic inside him. Dark magic was a seductive force, twisting the minds of those who dared to wield it, leading them down a path from which there could be no return. Dumbledore was noticing the same kind of symptoms from Harry but there wasn't a trance of dark magic inside Harry.

This was what troubled and confused Dumbledore the most.

Dumbledore knew that the young wizard's grief and anger blinded him to reason. In his quest for vengeance, Harry had become consumed by darkness, but it was mostly psychological and he didn't sense Harry coming into contact with Dark Magic.

He was wrong! But it was never his fault, a much more powerful being was influencing the string of fate here.
