Chapter 269 - Chapter 269 : Dumbledore

As Orion and Dumbledore returned to Hogwarts, they walked in silence through the familiar corridors, each lost in their thoughts. Dumbledore led the way, his mind occupied with the puzzling events at Gringotts. They had just finished a lengthy conversation with the goblin manager to keep the matter secret as long as possible, but even Dumbledore hardly believed that that was gonna happen for a long.

Orion on the other hand had his headache come back to him at full force. Making him frown and support his forehead.

Reaching Dumbledore's office, they stepped inside, the door closing softly behind them. Dumbledore waved his hand, and a cosy fire roared to life in the fireplace. He gestured for Orion to sit, and they both settled into the comfortable chairs.

For a moment, the crackling of the fire was the only sound. Both were silent. Both were equally confused.

"Orion," he began, his voice thoughtful, "the parchment at Gringotts...do you have any idea about it?

Orion shook his head, his expression just as confused as Dumbledore's. "How the hell I'm supposed to know this, isn't you are the one who can tell me more."

Dumbledore leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers as he considered the situation. "It's peculiar, to say the least. The Ambrosius name is linked to Merlin, which we already knew. We go there to find your connection to that..." Dumbledore said but suddenly was interrupted by Orion.

"And to enter me in the tournament..." Orion said with suspicion in his voice, thinking that he might really didn't had to do a blood test to enter and this old man played him.

"And to enter you in the tournament..." Dumbledore quickly said.

"But while that name was there, the other name?

But the inclusion of 'Dumbledore' suggests a familial tie I was unaware of."

Orion frowned.

"Orion A. Dumbledore...what kind of joke is my life turning into?

Could it be a mistake? Or some kind of magical tampering?"

Dumbledore shook his head slowly. "Gringotts' records are rarely wrong, and they are protected against tampering. This must be genuine. But how, or why, this connection exists, I cannot say."

Orion looked at Dumbledore, a mix of confusion and determination in his eyes. "Do you know anything about your family history that could explain this? Any ancestors or branches of the family tree that might intersect with mine?"

Dumbledore sighed, his eyes reflecting the flickering firelight. "The Dumbledore family has always been small and somewhat private. I have a brother, Aberforth, and our parents were Percival and Kendra. And I did have a sister who died long ago. But beyond that, there is no one." Dumbledore said but as he said, his face looked like he was thinking about something. Like remoarsing something?

Orion didn't care about that, he was actually cursing Merlin in his mind. 'Surely that old man knew something. There is definitely something that he is hiding. But what the hell?

The D in the name is Dumbledore.

One minute is that why I had a Phoenix ?...'

Orion leaned forward, a spark of resolve in his gaze. "Then we need to find out. If there's a connection, it might explain more about Mer...my...my lineage and why things are the way they are."

Dumbledore nodded. "I agree. We must investigate this further. But we are not right now, after the tournament. The implications of your name and lineage are significant, forget about the Dumbledore name for the time being. What is more significant is Ambrosius' name."

They sat in contemplative silence for a while, the enormity of the situation sinking in. The trip raised more questions than it answered.

But at least what they went there for was established. The name given to him by the book of admission was correct. The title Ambrosius checks out.

Now the real question is why. How come he is both an Ambrosius and a Dumbledore? And more than that, what should he call himself?

Orion D. Ambrosius or Orion A. Dumbledore ?

Both names are pretty cool-sounding and equally troublesome.

After a few minutes, Dumbledore spoke again, his tone more decisive. "For now, we must keep this information between us. There are too many uncertainties, and we cannot afford to let this knowledge spread until the two other schools are here, in Hogwarts. Try to keep a low profile."

Orion nodded in agreement, now not even having enough energy to retort that he is low profile or at least try to be but the world didn't like him in peace. "I'll keep it quiet. But I want to know more. I want to understand who I am and where I come from."

Dumbledore hearing this just nodded. He too was confused right now to do anything more.

As Orion was moving out, Orion suddenly turned back and looked at Dumbledore. " One more thing, I will be going out for some work I have. I might not be able to attend some classes here and there." Orion said, making sure that he is not asking for permission but rather informing Dumbledore beforehand.

Hearing this Dumbledore's mouth twitched, but still, he smiled and sent the boy off, somehow.

'Out of all things. He is of my blood. Sigh.

What just happened? I can't remember this. Who's child is he ?' Dumbledore can't help but sigh.

As Orion left the office, he immediately vanished from his place, appeared back in his mansion. A mind-splitting headache was coming to him. He right now just wanted to destroy things, eat and sleep. Anything to calm his raging mind.
