Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

"Alex we have a problem"

Caleb says as he barges into Alexander's office. Rude. He took a deep breath and raked his fingers through his auburn hair.

"I leave you alone for one week and you already have a problem, what could the matter possibly be this time Caleb."

He stared at the tall fit man with blonde hair standing in front of his desk, letting out an awkward laugh . Oh! He fucked up big time. Caleb had been his right hand man ever since high school, as far as opposites could go, they were that.

"How was your trip!!, " Caleb said in a high pitched tone while going round the desk to meet Alex on the other side, ruffling his hair a bit.

"Touch me one more time and I'll cut off your fingers". Alex said while pulling his hand out of his hair and fixing it back into place.

Caleb was more of a loud person and Alex could barely give a shit about anyone, he always kept his business to himself.

"Uhh, nothing really serious man, I would have taken care of it but-" Alex raised a finger up to stop him from talking and stood up and towered over him. Caleb was tall alright but Alexander was a giant.

"Stop beating around the bush and go straight to the point."

He proceeded to sit back down and waved his hand as a gesture for Caleb to speak, "Viper double crossed us, what started as a promising business deal turned south quick-"

Alex looked up from his laptop, a frown evident on his handsome face

"Why did he decide to cancel the deal?"

"He wanted to see the real face behind our business, he did not want me to close off the deal, he said he wanted to meet you."

Alex let out a roar of laughter, he wished sometimes people would just mind their business and stop putting their head into what doesn't concern them.

No one truly knew the real face behind the Cosa Nostra [Italian-American Mafia], and that was what made Alex

more dangerous because you can't fight someone you don't even know physically. To the world was a mysterious and dangerous man, some called him heartless, some said he was the son of the devil who had no face, others said he was just putting up a facade and wasn't all that, and the tales went on and on. It always made him crack up when he heard stuff about him.

He stood up from his chair and grabbed his coat from the rack before opening the door. He turned back to Caleb and a devilish smile was forming on his face.

"Well as they say, curiosity killed the cat''. ************************************

Two hours later bodies were being disposed of, he let Caleb take care of that. He didn't like to get his hand messy with all of that.

"Oh now where were we?, oh right Viper." He looked at the old man practically begging at his feet.

Pfft boring. What happened to all the confidence before, he was kind of disappointed.

"Please I will do anything please don't just kill me". Pathetic.

People who behave this way always give him the ick. He picked up the man by his collar and stared into his eyes.

"You wanted to see me right, now that you have, why are you scared!" he lashed out at Viper, flinging him across the room. Viper went flying into some old boxes and let out a cry of pain, he looked up to see Alexander approaching him and began to whimper trying to find somewhere to hide.

Alex approached him and started giving him blows everywhere laughing as he watched the man beg for his life. It was this thrill of his job he loved so much, watching people suffer was an escape from reality, he was a psychopath.

He looked down at the old man and a smirk formed on his face "I will let you go on one condition-''

"Anything I'll do anything please'' , Viper begged now on his knees-

"You did not even allow me to finish speaking, anyways you can leave-''

He did not even waste time, he was already sprinting through the doors. How he loved it when they ran!!!.

Boom. The gun roared with a deafening sound, he watched as his limp body fell to the ground with a sudden thump. He signaled Caleb to clean up the mess and exited the warehouse.

*******************************************

"Mum, I'm home'', Alexander took his leather jacket and threw his keys on the counter, making his way into the kitchen in search of something to munch on. He felt a hand snake around my waist hugging him from behind and instantly knew it was his mom.

"Hey mum", he leaned in to give her a kiss on the cheek.

Mrs Newman was a lovely woman, an epitome of beauty despite being in her late forties already.

"How was your day love-" she asked as she snatched the banana he was about to eat from his hand.

His handsome face was replaced with a scowl as he proceeded to check the fridge for something else to eat. He found a bowl of grapes and took it to the living room, ignoring his

moms presence as she followed him. She sat down opposite him and gave him a sheepish smile as she tucked a strand of her brown hair behind her ear. She definitely wanted something.

"What do you want mom?" She leaves her former position and goes to sit down next to him, Oh God....

"So about your birthday dinner-''. He cut her off before she could even finish her sentence. She always does this, trying to throw a glamorous event, and one thing Alex hated was being in the spotlight.

"No, and that is final".

"But why Alex? , you are turning 22. Is it really so bad that I want to celebrate my son's birthday? ".

Or you just want to show off as usual, although he didn't say that out loud.

"Mom it's just 22 I can celebrate many more to come, and moreover I really can't be thinking of a birthday dinner party right now, I have the family business and other important affairs to attend to"

She lets out a frustrated sigh. "But you can hang out with different women everyday and can't do this one thing for your mom-"

Ohh here we go with the emotional blackmail... "Mom respectfully you have no say in this and besides it's my life".

"Yh it's your life, but you really can't just do this one thing for me-" She pouts her lips at him, why can't she just understand no means no. "I said no, end of discussion.'' He grabs his keys from the counter and proceeds to leave the house. He didn't want to fight with his mom, she was overbearing at times yeah. But he still loved her and didn't want to hurt her, so he made an attempt to leave the house before he would say or do something he'd regret later.

Deep down he knew the main reason she wanted to throw a party was to set him up with a potential partner that would grow the family business.

"You are just avoiding the inevitable, you know why I want this dinner party. And in our line of business it is better to settle down early''. Mrs Newman blurted out as she ran to the doorway attempting to stop him from leaving the house.

Alexander brushed her aside and went to the side walk where his car was parked, "mom I am done talking about this -"

"It's about Victoria right? You keep turning down people that are way better than her!... like you should be over her by now!-"

"Mom that's enough". She had successfully provoked him, and was directly in front of his mother now, he saw the fear in his mothers eyes as he watched her cautiously retract her steps back.

Victoria was his first love, his first friend, his first everything, and he fucked it all up and would never forgive himself. He could still hear her screams every night when he went to sleep. He hated when someone brought anything about her up, because it was too much of a sensitive topic to revisit.

He knew he had to leave now because he was about to lose his shit, he had vowed never to be like his father, but at times he kept seeing a glance of his father in him and he hated himself for that. He failed Victoria and would never forgive himself.

He needed a drink. And with that he left his mom on the front porch, hopped into his vehicle and sped away.
