I was running low on income, and my monthly pay at the bank wasn't meeting up to the needs I needed for paying my attorney for the case.
It seemed like my world was already shattering before me. The adjournment of the standing case was fast approaching, and the attorney was already giving side comments that he would back out if he doesn't see his pay.
I reached out to my family, and I was the only one they were leaning on for income. They didn't have any recent job to lean on for their daily income. Ever since that incident happened, they have found it so difficult to bounce back.
I remembered George's offer which I had declined in the past. I regretted having to think about this now. It was the only way to help myself out. I decided to discuss my recent predicament with Jasmine and I was hoping she helps me out now that I needed her the most.
**Jasmine's work place.**
I decided to visit Jasmine's workplace, and luckily she was around when I arrived. I went to her office, and Jasmine was obviously living that successful life, every young lady wished for.
I know on her door before coming in. She was happy to see me, because it's been years since I visited her at her work place. I smiled at her, grabbing a chair before her table. I sat down, facing her now.
"Wow, who I'm seeing?". She asked amazedly.
"Jasmine, surprise." I screamed out, hiding my pains from inside.
She laughed out aloud, while I gritted my teeth. I waited for her to calm down with her happy expressions, before I decided to speak up about the main purpose I was at her office.
"It looks like you're hiding something from me." Jasmine said to me, after looking at my face with suspicions.
"The truth is, I'm." I said to her, switching up into a sad mood.
Jasmine grabbed my hands, looking into my eyes this time. I fixed my eyes on hers, controlling myself from crying again. I was already on a tight corner. I didn't want to feel miserable than I was right now.
"Go on." She ordered me, with her eyebrows raised up.
"I regret to say this, but I need your help. George's offer is all I need right now. I want to accept it." I rapped my words regretfully, with my eyes shut in embarrassment.
Jasmine laughed at me, looking at my face. I waited for her to say something, and when I realized she wasn't saying anything, I slowly opened my eyes. Jasmine was still looking at me with a smile, and the embarrassment I felt made me almost feel like screaming out my ass.
"Finally." She said to me smiling.
"I regret saying this, but I'm left with no choice." I said to her.
Jasmine rubbed my hands gently, while I wondered what could be going through her mind at the moment. She's full of surprises. She picked up her cell phone that was lying on the table, and the next minute she made a call.
"Who are you calling now?". I asked her worriedly.
"I'm calling George's receptionist. I want to find out if he would be around tomorrow." She said to me.
I smiled, letting her make the phone call in peace. I wouldn't be able to face George tomorrow, not after everything that had conspired between the both of us. He might see me as a loser, and the thought of it alone, gets me worriedly sick.
Jasmine talked with the receptionist, and the call lasted for ten minutes. She cut the call, returning back her phone on the table. I looked at her, wondering if the call turned out to be a success.
"How did it go?". I asked her.
"He will be at his office tomorrow." She said to me.
"So we can go there tomorrow right?". I asked her hopefully.
Jasmine nodded her head, beaming a smile at me. I took in a deep breath, breathing out heavily. That was a breath of relief. At last, my mission didn't turn out fruitless. Some days are like that, and I don't mind facing so much troubles at George's company tomorrow, as long as he gives me the job that I am in need of at the moment.
"I will still say it again, George is the right man for you." Jasmine said to me.
"That's my issue to worry about."I responded quickly, gritting my teeth.
I stood up from the chair, placing my hands on her table. Jasmine looked at me, shaking her head. She was tired of arguing about this particular topic with me, because it was obvious to her that I wasn't interested in her dear friend.
**The Next Day**
I and Jasmine left the house very early the next day, to catch up with George at his office. Since he was the head of his company, he frequently just visits the company. He was rarely seen at the company, because of the position he held there.
I was having mixed feelings about the entire thing, but I wasn't going to give up. I would just bear the shame and face him anyhow that I could.
We arrived at his company, and Jasmine directed me to his office. Both of us climbed so many stairs on our way to the upper room, before locating his office.
"Knock, knock." I knocked gently on the door before me.
Jasmine noticed that I was agitating and she decided to handle it herself. She pushed me backwards, opening the door by herself. Luckily, George was inside his office. We entered inside, while I buried my head in shame. I was so embarrassed to see George's face.
"Jasmine, Bianca...the both of you are here already." He said to us amazed.
"Yeah. We didn't want to miss you." Jasmine responded back to him, grabbing two chairs for the both of us.
We sat down, facing George now. I countlessly tried my best to avoid eye contacts with him but it was impossible. He kept staring at me and that made me feel very uncomfortable.
"I heard your reply to the offer from Jasmine." George said to me.
I gritted my teeth, faking up a smile and still avoiding my eyes from meeting with his. Jasmine tried changing the topic, after she noticed that I was uncomfortable.
"Uhm, When will she start working here then?". Jasmine interruptedly asked him.
"Oh, oh about that. Maybe from two days time." He replied.
"Thank you George." I thanked him with a very tiny voice.
He nodded his head, smiling at me. I secretly smirked already choking inside the office. Jasmine informed him that I would be getting my resignation letter ready and I was glad she spoke on my behalf. She indirectly lifted a burden off me.
"That's fine then." He said to Jasmine, shaking hands with her.
"We'll be taking our leave now. Expect her in two days time." Jasmine said to him.
I stood up the same time with Jasmine. I couldn't conceal the joy I felt within me, once I learnt we were leaving the office immediately. I followed her behind, heading towards the exit door.
She opened the door before us, taking her leave. I joined her immediately, closing back the door.
Getting outside of the office, I coughed out of relief, while Jasmine jeered me. She obviously knew that I was so scared while we were still inside George's office.
