I was sent on an errand by my boss from the bank where I worked, to go over to a company and hand over a cheque of over ten millions, to the owner of the company. It happened to be the company of Mr Baker. After having a successful errand, I entered an elevator, that was taking me to the down floor of the company.
Reaching to my destination, I pressed a button next to the exit door, as the elevator opened ajar. I arranged my hair before stepping out of the elevator. Done with arranging my hair, my eyes caught up with the first person I met outside of the elevator.
People that were going into the elevator, were already pushing and quacking me, to find space for themselves inside the elevator.
My eyes were still on the person, standing before me. It happened to be Sebastian, and it was then I realized that Jasmine was actually saying the truth the last time. I tried ignoring his presence, but he dragged me back, when I tried walking away. Sebastian dragged me to a corner, while I struggled my arm out of his clenches.
"Long time no see Bianca." He teased me sarcastically.
"You look very different now. So much growth, within a short period of time." He added.
"Are you done Sebastian? Can I leave now?." I asked him rudely.
"The attitude is very unnecessary. Do you hate me so much now?." He asked me.
I ignored his question, walking away. I was heading towards the exit door, when I sprained my ankle. Sebastian hurriedly rushed to me, lending a helping hand. I tried ignoring him, but he stubbornly helped me out anyway. I wondered why he was being nice all of a sudden. Deep down, I knew that he didn't care about me at all, so the empathy was uncalled for.
"Sebastian you're doing too much. It seems you traced me down here, to continue torturing me, like you did in the past." I said.
"Call it whatever you want Bianca, but I'm not an ingrate like you." Sebastian said to me.
"No doubts, you've never changed." I replied.
"I wasn't expecting you to change anyway." I added.
I walked away, heading towards a cab I had ordered earlier. I got into the cab, hitting my chest gently. My fear aroused more, after setting my eyes on Sebastian. He would definitely take away Zoey away from me, once he finds out the truth. I just have to be more careful than I was before. Sebastian must never learn about Zoey and I must try my best to keep her away from him.
★★Hours later..**
After closing from my work, I returned home earlier than I used to. Jasmine was already home, and I noticed a new face in our home. It seemed like it was her sister, she always told me about. Jasmine at such young age, was the one carrying her family's burden single handedly. They only gets to remember her, whenever a need arises. She is really a strong and ambitious young woman.
I walked into the living room, sitting next to Jasmine on the couch she sat on. Jasmine was very happy to see me. Her sister exchanged glances with Jasmine, because Jasmine never told her that she have been living with someonelse in her apartment for the past seventeen years.
Kiara gave me a sterning stare, which I tried my best to avoid.
"Who is she sis?.." Kiara asked surprisedly.
"My long time bestfriend. She's more like a soul sister to me now." Jasmine replied her.
"I'm Bianca Mowers, Jasmine's best friend."I revealed.
Kiara smirked at my response, facing Jasmine. I wondered the reason she was at our apartment now. Ever since I have been staying with Jasmine over here, Kiara had never visited her older sister so I wondered why she was doing that now. Jasmine held my right hand tightly, and I could feel the pressure in her body, by the shaking of her hand. I kept staring at my poor friend, forgetting the gist I had for her. I was really hoping to tell her about Sebastian, once I get home but all those were ruined now.
"Does mother still see me as a failure?". Jasmine asked Kiara.
"Yes of course. You don't send money to us anymore. Our rent is due and..." Jasmine cuts her words short immediately.
"Enough Kiara. I have been the one running everything for the past six years and now I stopped, I'm a failure once again." Jasmine cried out.
Jasmine was really going through so much, and the shocking side of the story was the fact, she had two siblings before her. Those ones were excused of their responsibilities, but once it was Jasmine, she becomes the bad one. Kiara on the other hand, was also working irrespective of being the last child of their parents. They also exempted her from funding their necessities but wanted to choke everything down Jasmine's throat.
Jasmine was crying frustratingly, while I watched her with weary eyes, moved with pity. She has been helpful to me these past years, and I would do anything to repay her kindness even without her asking for it.
"Don't you think, it's too much for her to handle?." I suggested.
"Don't involve in my family's affairs. Stay out of it please." Kiara warned me.
"Nah, Bianca has every right to. She's the only that understands me..." Jasmine supported me.
I drew her head closer to my shoulder, lending her my shoulder to cry it all out. It was obvious she was really depressed because of the whole loads on her. I pleaded with Kiara to leave and she obviously did. Kiara left rudely and I ignored her rudeness because of the relationship I shared with her older sister.
I succeeded in distracting Jasmine with some other conversations, and that was when I chipped in the topic of Sebastian's.
★★Jasmine and I POV★★
"First of all, I want to thank you Bianca." She said to me.
"No, I owe you that. You're very important to me." I shunned her.
"Thank you." She showed her gratitude towards me, with a warm smile.
I returned back the smile, crossing my right leg over the left one. I turned towards Jasmine, ready to spill everything to her. She watched me, imagining I was some newscaster that worked in a radio station. Jasmine was ready to hear all of my chit chats, as a way of distracting herself from reality.
"I met Sebastian at Mr Baker's Company." I revealed.
"Huh!!?..Are you kidding?." She asked me with her jaws dropped down.
"Obviously not. My fear increased, after setting my eyes on him. He would find out about Zoey." I panicked.
"Zoey is old enough. Even if it happens, you will take the custody of Zoey through a court." Jasmine said to me.
My face was all red and I was panicking again. I didn't notice the tears that were built up in my eyes. Immediately I blew out air from my folded mouth, the tears poured down. Jasmine lended me her handkerchief, while I wiped off the tears. Wiping them off, more tears kept dropping. I covered my face with the handkerchief, sobbing. I cried all by myself, releasing the stress off my mind. I have grown up with my little princess, and I wouldn't stand and watch Sebastian take her away from me one day. I probably can't live without Zoey.
