Chapter 32 - Injured

The ice shard was so fast that he didn't have time to dodge. Without another choice, he burst his left arm as he executed the fly swatting palm at full power.

Bang!

The ice shard was stronger than he thought, as his palm didn't smash it but just changed its trajectory, but at least it was enough to save his life.

His body was also swaying to the side as a result of the recoil because his posture was not firm enough when he slapped the ice shard.

"Help!" He shouted loudly on top of his lungs.

Stab!

Just as he was about to turn around and run away, he saw a sword suddenly emerge from his chest.

The force from the sword brought him to his knees, and he spit out a mouthful of blood. He looked at the sword that came out of his chest in disbelief.

"How is this possible?"

He clearly didn't sense anyone behind him, so how could-

He suddenly raised his head and looked towards the one who launched the ice shard at him, but there was no one in the distance.

With some difficulty, he turned his head back and also saw no one there.

He finally realized the reason he couldn't feel anyone behind him. It was because there was no one behind him in the first place. The two attackers attacked him from a distance, so he couldn't feel their presence.

He also didn't have the ability to sense danger, as it could only be obtained by having many life-and-death experiences or having a high cultivation base. And he was neither of them.

"Is this how my life is going to end?" He muttered softly.

He kneeled on the ground as his head dropped. The taste of rust in his mouth made him want to throw up, but what came out of his mouth was just blood.

He looked down at the sword that pierced his chest; its tip kept dripping the blood that was leaking from his wound.

It was the scenes the guard saw as soon as they arrived at the alley.

"Over there!" he said after he saw the condition Wei Fang was in.

"What happened?" Several guards arrived at Wei Fang's position.

"I don't know; as soon as I arrived, he was already like that." The guard said, shaking his head.

"Make way; the guard captain has arrived!" Some guards shouted from outside the alley.

Soon, a middle-aged man with a full beard arrived at the scene. He looked at Wei Fang's condition before saying, "Don't move him and call Doctor Ming here!"

"Yes, sir."

"Oh, and also call someone from the Cloud River sect here!" The captain added after he saw Wei Fang's robe.

"Can someone tell me what happened here?" He asked the guard around.

The guard who arrived first came forward and explained: "We were just patrolling around like usual when suddenly we heard someone shout 'Help!'. So we hurriedly went to the place where it originated, but when we arrived, it was already too late."

The guard lowered his head while he was explaining.

"That's it?" The captain guard asked again.

"You must be hiding something from me, right?" The guard captain glared. "Like how you just leisurely walked towards where the request for help was heard just because of where it originated?"

Every guard lowered their head when they heard what the guard captain said.

Because the voice was heard in the direction of the slum, they took it lightly. They didn't think the consequences would be so big.

"This time, the victim was a disciple of the Azure Cloud Sect, so be prepared for any punishment that would befall all of you." The guard captain's eyes became sharp, and he said, "I don't want to be involved in this mess."

The guards shuddered when they heard what the guard captain said, but they didn't dare to say anything. They could only hope that the punishment would not be too harsh; they would be thankful if it just meant losing their job.

Not long after, a man wearing a gray robe arrived. He had a chiseled face and long black hair that was left loose. Even from a distance, everyone could smell the smell of herbs from the man.

"Where's the patient?" The man asked.

"Doctor Ming, the patient is here!" The guard captain personally led the doctor towards Wei Fang.

The doctor bent down and started to check his pulse. "Luckily, his heart has not been pierced." Doctor Ming concluded.

"Go get a stretcher!" He ordered.

The guards immediately scrambled up to search for it.

"Put him on the stretcher." Doctor Ming said while pointing at Wei Fang after the stretcher arrived.

Two guards carefully placed Wei Fang on the stretcher. But because of the sword, it was a bit difficult for them to search for a good position so that Wei Fang would not move about while the stretcher was moving.

"Be careful, and don't let the sword position move!" Doctor Ming cautioned the guard, who was moving Wei Fang.

In the end, other than the two guards who were lifting the stretcher, one guard was in charge of holding Wei Fang down.

"Make way!"

"Make way!"

Several people in Cloud River Sect uniforms arrived at the scene. After they didn't see the one they were searching for, one of them grabbed a guard and asked. "Where is he?"

Even without being explained, the guard knew who 'he' in the question was.

"He's on the way to Doctor Ming's Clinic." The huard answered timidly.

"Lead the way!"

"Yes, sir."

After walking for a while, they arrived at the clinic. As soon as the disciples of the Cloud River Sect saw the clinic, their arrogant behavior instantly vanished.

Doctor Ming was an independent cultivator and a doctor who was not tied to any power. Even so, he was skilled in his trade, so some families and sects sometimes also requested his help. They didn't dare be presompous in his clinic.

Of course, it was not that there were never some big families or sects trying to force him to join their forces. But all of them learned the hard lesson that those who were skilled in medicine oftentimes were also skilled in poison.

Although there were no deaths, it was enough to make those families and sects behave. After all, Doctor Ming just wanted to teach them a lesson and not make enemies.

They entered the clinic and waited outside, where Wei Fang was treated.

"How is his condition, Doctor Ming?" They asked as soon as they saw Doctor Ming come out.

"He already passed the critical moment, so his life was out of danger, but..." Doctor Ming explained but stopped midway.

"But what?" One of the disciples asked.

"Just forget it; you just need to know that his life is out of danger." Doctor Ming said.

"Thank you for your hard work, Doctor Ming." They could finally breathe easily again.

They didn't want things to become complicated because a disciple of the main sect died in their sect's jurisdiction. Maybe it was alright if he died in the wilderness, but the problem was that the incident happened inside the city, which could make things complicated.

Meanwhile, on the main road in Cloud River City, two people were walking leisurely.

"Do you think that kid can survive?" One of them asked.

"I don't know; as long as I get the payment, I don't care if he died or not."

"You're right."

"I don't expect to get a hundred spiritual stones just to deal with someone at the middle stage of Qi condensation."

"Hahahaha, what do you expect? Someone from a big family is really different."

"Right, hahahaha."
