Chapter 29 - Unlucky

The convoy resumed its journey first time in the morning.

The convoy had two fewer people than before; the guard's corpse was being loaded in a makeshift cart linked to one of the carriages, while Wang Ren's corpse was left alone in the wild.

After all, he was a traitor, so the sect didn't need to treat his corpse nicely and just let it become a meal for the beast.

The journey was peaceful, without any accidents. There were times when beasts were about to attack the convoy, but it was all resolved by just having Zhao Wu let his aura spread.

He didn't need to conceal his cultivation base anymore, as his mission was to capture or kill the foundation establishment pill robber. Now that they knew he was in the convoy, it was unlikely for them to attack again.

And so the two-day journey proceeded smoothly.

From afar, the convoy could see the huge wall of Cloud River City. Everyone was in a cheerful mood as they finally arrived after a long journey, of course except Wei Fang. He still looked gloomy after the incident that night. He became quieter, quite different from the cheerful teen when the journey started.

Just like when they were in cloud city, people instinctively gave the road to them after they saw the Azure Cloud Sect symbol on the convoy.

The convoy proceeded slowly because of how crowded the road is; it was more crowded than Cloud City on their first day of travel.

It was not that the cloud river city had more people, but because of the occasion. This time every year was when the tournament in Cloud River Sect's was held.

The tournament was intended to select outstanding disciples to be accepted into the main sect, the Azure Cloud Sect.

Because of it, the city became much livelier and more crowded than usual.

Even though it was crowded, it was not difficult for the convoy to proceed, as the symbol of Azure Cloud Sect worked like a charm.

As soon as the convoy arrived at the Cloud River Sect, a middle-aged man came to welcome them warmly.

"Welcome to my humble sect!" The middle-aged man said while smiling.

Zhao Wu, as the head of convoy walked hurriedly towards the middle-aged man, said, "Sect Master Han is too courteous." He cupped his fist. He didn't dare to be disrespectful, as the position of sect master of the branch sect was equal to that of the main sect elder. Even without this position, he would still need to show respect, as Sect Master Han had a higher cultivation realm and was also older than him.

"Come, you must be tired for the journey." Sect Master Han was still smiling when he noticed a cart that was tied to one of the carriages, and his smile disappeared. "That..."

"There was an accident on the road." Zhao Wu shook his head.

"It's really unfortunate, my condolences." Sect Master Han said.

"This is just how the life of a cultivator is." Zhao Wu smiled ruefully.

"You must be tired from your journey; let the disciples of my sect unload the carriages." Sect Master Han offered.

"Thank you for the help, sect master. Let some of my junior brothers help, as they were the ones who loaded it."

"You two help them unload the carriages and organize the load." Zhao Wu said while pointing towards Wei Fang and Brother Gong.

"Alright, Senior."

After that, Zhao Wu rummaged one of the carriages before fishing a box out; it was nothing remarkable compared to the other thing in the carriage. But for Zhao Wu to personally take it, it must be something precious.

Finally, only Wei Fang and Brother Hong were left with the disciples of the Cloud River sect, tasked with unloading the carriages.

"I was surprised you are still alive." Brother Gong suddenly said with a strange tone.

"What?" Wei Fang looked at Brother Gong puzzledly, but Brother Gong ignored him and started instructing the disciples to unload the carriages.

Wei Fang looked at Brother Gong with his dark eyes; his mind didn't fully understand what he was hearing.

He averted his gaze and also started instructing the disciples.

The entire process of unloading the carriages was fast and silent. There was no unnecessary chatting.

Because of Wei Fang's change, he became silent, not to mention brother Gong's personality, which was also silent. The disciples of the Cloud River Sect became under pressure to work for the two of them, so the process of unloading became fast.

The organizing process was a bit slow because the two of them didn't know about the goods that Wang Ren loaded, so they needed to open the box to see what was inside.

Not long after, the unloading and organizing were finished. Wei Fang and Brother Gong were led by disciples to their lodging.

As soon as the two of them were gone, the disciples, who endured not saying anything while working, finally let loose.

"Fiuuh, finally finished. It's so difficult working under the two of them." One of the disciples said.

"You too? I became nervous whenever one of them looked at me."

"I didn't even dare say anything around them; it looks like I would be scolded if I made a mistake or said anything unnecessary."

"Is this how the disciples of the main sect are? Even though our cultivation was not that different, we could feel the pressure around them."

"Right, I feel intimidated whenever they look at me. Just how was the training at the main sect?"

Meanwhile, Wei Fang finally arrived at his lodging.

"Senior Brother, you could live here during your stay in the Cloud River Sect." The disciple said while pointing towards a room in front of him.

Then he turned to Wei Fang and said, "I hope you had a pleasant stay here, Senior Brother."

He tried to smile at Wei Fang, but his smile came out stiff because of his nervousness.

Wei Fang ignored the nervous disciple and nodded his head, "Thank you!" He said before entering the room.

The room was quite good; at least it was better than the broken courtyard he used to live in in the main sect.

There was a bed, a desk, and a wardrobe. He stuffed the change of clothes he brought into the wardrobe and began to rest on the bed.

Actually, his mission was already over as soon as he finished unloading the carriages; he could go back to the sect now.

Of course, normally, those who do missions would come back together with the convoy. After all, it was dangerous to come back to the sect alone, and if he wanted to come back with another convoy, he would need to spend money. Then, his original objective of doing the mission would be lost.

So, Wei Fang also chose to come back with the convoy and come back to the sect seven days later.

"Young master!" A man kneeled in front of a room while shouting.

"What is it this time?" An irritated voice sounded from the room.

"The mission failed." The kneeling man nervously said.

"Failed?" It was clear that the voice was a bit dissatisfied.

"It's because we are unlucky." The kneeling man said.

The man inside the room, who was called the young master, frowned. He hates it when someone blames their failure on luck.

As if aware of what the Young Master was thinking, the kneeling man hurriedly explained, "The team encountered real robbers, and before they even began the mission, they were ambushed and killed.

"It said that even one of the guard teams was killed despite there being a Foundation Establishment senior with them."

The young master frown eased. If it was like that, then they were really unlucky.

"Should we continue with plan B?" The kneeling man asked.

The young master seemed to be thinking, "Just do it according to circumstances; if there was no chance, then forget it." He shook his head and said, "There was no need to deploy so much manpower just for small fry."

The kneeling man sighed in relief. It seems the young master's anger has already eased. "Alright!"
