Chapter 38 - Extraction!

Leo took a deep breath upon hearing Jake's explanation, falling completely silent as he watched the fight below.

Soon, after 15 minutes of waiting, without unexpected events occurring, the group finally finished the last feline in the enemy.

"Let's go and collect our spoils," Smiling widely, not waiting for Leo to reply, Jake directly jumped toward the edge of the rooftop, using the air to glide toward the group on the ground.

Seeing this Leo hesitates slightly before deciding to use the stairs along with the child. Although he also wanted to experience jumping from the building, he had no idea if his body could handle that.

Besides that, my body might become mince if I decided to jump down from this height...

Reaching the group after minutes of walking, Leo stared at the corpses of feline on the ground.

The soft fur of the cat and the packed muscles behind it that even a bodybuilder would be ashamed of, their sharp claws that almost reach 8 inches in length, and sharp fangs like a dagger.

Sigh, Indeed my pitiful precious body wouldn't survive if I faced them, fortunately, I didn't join them on the hunt.

Leo thought thankfully before bending beside the feline and at the same time, he took an empty bottle from his inventory.

"What kind of materials could I extract from this feline?"

Since it's not within the knowledge he gets from his level 1 "Potion Knowledge" skill Leo could assume that it's at least at the level of Uncommon materials.

"Sigh, I still need to upgrade the skill later to avoid missing/neglecting materials that I met in the future."

Extraction.

Sighing deeply, Leo focused his mind as he activated the extraction skill.

With glowing eyes and the feeling that his hand was in control of the internal body of the feline. Leo quickly scanned its internal body and followed his instinct, injecting his mana toward the marrow of the feline before forcing it outside its body.

Along the way of forcing the liquified marrow outside of the body, some of the blood and impurities of the feline got mixed with the marrow causing its color to change with a hint of red.

Now!

Shouting inwardly, Leo instantly activated his manipulation technique (Telekinetic skill), guiding the liquefied marrow toward the empty bottle before closing it.

"Huff~ It is really uncomfortable using this skill." Panting slightly Leo unhurriedly cast his "Soul Scan" toward the marrow liquid with a hint of red on his hand.

Ding!

[ Liquified Marrow (Uncommon) (62% pure) - An extracted marrow from the body of a Foundation-level beast and got tainted by impurities in the process of extraction... Could be used in a concoction of Permanent Speed Stats and Speed Boosting Potion...

Note 1 - Safe to Drink directly!

Note 2 - Upon consumption, it could increase the speed stat by 1 permanently!

Note 3 - Due to impurities, it can only be consumed once a week! ]

Eh, it could increase speed by 1 permanently!?

"This... This is too great!"

Seeing the effects of the marrow, the first thought in Leo's head is actually to get all the marrow and hide it, not telling its effect on the group so he could enjoy all the benefits of the marrow by himself.

But...

However, thinking of it deeply, Leo shook his head and decided to tell it openly. Although he was quite tempted by the marrow. If he hid the truth he would always feel guilty and uneasy...

Although Leo wanted to hide the spoil (Marrow of the cat) and use it to his advantage to increase his stats Leo decided not to. Even though it was quite tempting, even if he managed to hide the truth for a while, sooner or later they would be able to learn the truth.

Besides that, It's just a passing thought that came to his mind that he really did not want to do. He just thinks that it's necessary to think since it might give him few advantages.

Who knows, they might not really care about the Cat's Marrow at all. Although the possibility is small, after all, it was only an uncommon material, It is not worth it to fall out because of it.

Thinking of this, Leo approached Mr. Roland in the distance who was looking at their spoils of war (A single skill scroll and 2 sharp dark daggers with a length of 1 foot/12 inches.) telling him the materials he got.

"What! It could increase the speed stat by 1 permanently!" Upon hearing the explanation of Leo the eyes of the group inexplicably lit up as they stared at Leo like they found a treasure, causing Leo to feel uncomfortable.

"Good, good, since there are 15 corpses here we could get at least one per person."

Mr. Roland laughed out loud as he patted the back of Leo, almost causing Leo to stumble.

"Damn, it is heavy!' Leo cursed inside his head, feeling the weight of Roland's hand.

Sigh, fortunately, my worry is unnecessary. However, I still needed to see their character for a while before I could trust them completely.

After resting for a while, Leo continued using his extraction skill toward the corpses of the feline on the ground, slightly increasing his mastery of his "Extraction" skill by amount. Unfortunately, it would probably take a while before he could level it to level 2!

Soon, after extracting the 8th corpse of the feline, a sudden notification rang inside his head.

Ding!

[ Congratulations upon extracting 10 materials for the first time! ]

+2 free attribute points!

Seeing this, Leo smiled slightly before continuing on his extraction.

...

As Leo was activating his Extraction skill toward the 9th corpse of the feline on the ground... a sudden problem occurred.

Leo's brow instinctively creased as there were no reactions/changes toward the corpses in the ground after using his "Extraction" skill toward it...

"Did I fail? Why did my Extraction skill didn't work in this corpse?"

As he was puzzled about the strange phenomenon in his skill a new notification appeared in front of him.

Ding!

[ Extraction failed! No essence is found! ]

"What? I'm sure that I didn't extract the essence of these corpses yet. Why they are no essence found?"

No, that's not right...
