Chapter 5 - Zombie (1)

Upon entering his house Leo immediately noticed the dusty atmosphere inside. Due to his absence for an unknown time, all of his furniture and things were already covered by thick brown dust and the ceiling was full of gray spider webs.

Coughing weakly, as if he inhaled a huge amount of dust. Leo familiarly entered his room to see if some of his things had gone missing.

After minutes of inspecting, Leo let out a sigh of relief.

"Fortunately, the thing is still here, If not, I would probably die of embarrassment if someone saw this!"

Shaking his head with a weak smile upon thinking about the use of the thing. Leo passed through the cabinet and was prepared to check his kitchen when suddenly a loud sound outside attracted his attention.

Surprised and expectant, Leo instantly abandoned the idea of examining his house and immediately entered his invisibility mode before diving toward the solid wall beside him.

Quickly passing through the wall, exiting the old house.

Unknown to him, on the ground meters away, in the corner of his bed where light couldn't illuminate, a console covered by dry red blood lay silently in there... waiting for someone to pick it up.

...

"What happened?"

Leo asked inside his head as he watched the building opposite his house crumble towards the ground. Destroying the surrounding walls and buildings in the process.

Fortunately, it didn't affect or damage his house, or else, he might completely lose his rationality here.

Disappointed that the sound didn't come from a human being, Leo silently approached the now-collapsed building.

The dust from the collapsed building still hung in the air, drastically reducing the visibility of Leo.

Without having the ability to see what was inside the dust of the smoke, Leo was forced to wait outside and let the dust calm down.

Soon, after a couple of minutes of waiting, the dust of smoke slightly calmed down. Although it still hindered his sight, seeing 3 meters away was not a problem for him.

However, even though he could already enter and inspect the collapsed building, Leo still decided to wait for a while.

Soon, as he was patiently waiting, a weak grunting sound suddenly came from the destroyed building in front of him followed by the heavy sound of debris falling toward the ground.

"Does that sound come from a human!?" Shocked and confused, Leo without any doubt heard the weak voice inside.

Excited about the prospect of finally seeing a human being again, Leo directly rushed into the cloud of dust without hesitation.

However, before he could successfully enter the destroyed building, Leo saw a silhouette of a human being struggling to walk in his direction, causing him to halt.

Is that really a human?

Leo almost laughed out loud upon finally meeting a human after a long time when suddenly, he noticed something strange/off about the approaching being.

Squinting his imaginary eyes, Leo concentrated on the slow-moving fellow in the distance.

Soon, after the smoke of dust calmed down once again, Leo's eyes that were staring into the silhouette suddenly constricted.

Walking toward his direction. Leo saw a human being with missing large chunks of meat on its neck and a protruding bone on its left foot, walking in his direction... Struggling. He even saw some dark fat worms wriggling around the figure's neck, happily snacking on what was left of the human flesh.

"That... That is not a human! That is a Zombie!" Leo, upon seeing the incomplete figure, suddenly has the urge to bend down and puke everything in his soul. Unfortunately, being a ghost doesn't allow him to do that.

Feeling the great horror within him, Leo turned around and Immediately rushed toward his home, hoping that the zombie wouldn't notice him and go away... Away from him.

"I hope the zombie couldn't see me and eat my soul... wait a minute."

As he was rushing toward his home a sudden thought appeared inside his head causing him to halt mid-air.

"Do zombies eat souls?" Leo thought. Although no one answered him, he knew that zombies don't eat souls. As a dead walking flesh, Zombies crave flesh and blood, not souls.

Turning around, Leo again fought the urge to bend down and puke and slowly approached the zombie in the distance, still having his invisibility activated.

Soon, before he could approach the zombie in the distance, Leo suddenly saw a panel appear on top of the zombie's head. Showing a sign of Level 2.

"Level 2? Zombies could actually upgrade their level!?"

Do I gain more EXP if I kill this zombie?

"So what should I need to do to this zombie? Should I scare him to death?" Leo thought but quickly disregarded it, how could he make this brainless zombie afraid?

Still, Leo tried to scare the struggling zombie in the distance but only to get ignored by it.

...

Looking at the Silly Black circle of smoke that suddenly appeared in front of him, the zombie grunted a little before continuing to move forward, causing the black circle of smoke in front of him to disperse in the surrounding area.

Ding!

[ Health reduce by 1! ]

[ Health 11/12 ]

What!

"Did I just get injured upon being passed by the zombie!?"

Shocked, the dispersed black smoke quickly converges at one point before completely forming a new complete circle of black smoke.

The only difference between before he got hit by the zombie and now, is that the luster of smoke lessened considerably.

"How could I get injured upon being passed by a zombie!?"

Leo wanted to curse to the fissure above. The thought of being an almost immortal ghost instantly popped up like a bubble inside his head.

He thought that as a ghost he would not be affected by a mere physical attack. Who would have thought that ghost is extremely fragile?

A simple touch instantly disperses his smoke and injures him!

Fortunately, the zombie simply passed through him, if not, his health would probably reduce drastically.

...

"Still, how dare this mere walking dead flesh injure me!" Angered by his carelessness... Leo decided to put the blame on the innocent zombie. Pledging to the fissure above to make the zombie pay for injuring him.
