Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 - A Sorceress walks into a bar

Cassandra arrived at the destination Maeve had given her, finding herself standing before a quaint single-story building adorned with a vibrant neon sign that proudly proclaimed: "Jan's Poolhouse & Bar."

"This must be the place'" Cassandra thought to herself.

As Cassandra stepped inside, she was immediately engulfed by a whirlwind of sensations. The interior was a kaleidoscope of bright lights and lively sounds, a stark contrast to the world she knew. The dim lighting cast an inviting glow, while soft music drifted overhead, mingling with the murmur of conversations that filled the air.

To her right, a row of pool tables stood in neat alignment, inviting patrons to engage in friendly competition. To her left loomed a sprawling bar, its expanse stretching from one wall to the other. In the center, a communal area provided a space for patrons to relax and unwind, offering respite from the bustling activity around them.

As Cassandra stepped into the venue, all eyes turned toward her as if drawn by an invisible force. Conversations faltered, drinks were forgotten mid-sip, and gazes lingered in awe at the enchanting figure before them. Men and women alike found themselves captivated by her presence, struck by her ethereal beauty.

Clad in a simple yet stunning black dress, Cassandra exuded an aura of elegance and allure. The fabric draped gracefully over her form, hugging her curves in all the right places. The dress split from her waist down to her feet on both sides. With each step, the dress parted subtly, offering tantalizing glimpses of her shapely thighs bathed in the soft glow of neon lights. The neckline plunged daringly, stropping just shy of her chest, accentuating her huge breasts and leaving little to the imagination. She was a vision of pure allure, a goddess among mortals.

Cassandra settled onto a barstool at the far end of the counter, her presence commanding attention even amidst the bustling activity of the bar. As she waited, the bartender, a young woman with a quick smile and warm demeanor, made her way over.

For a moment, the bartender found herself briefly speechless, struck by the radiant beauty of the woman seated before her. A faint blush rose to her cheeks as she hesitated, momentarily caught off guard by the mesmerizing presence of Cassandra. But quickly regaining her composure, she cleared her throat and addressed her esteemed guest.

"H-Hello there, what can I getcha?" She asked.

"Hm, your finest bottle of wine please. Many thanks" replied Cassandra

"Comin right up" the bartender said as she turned to open a door behind her that led to a back room "She talks so proper, is she a foreigner or something?" She thought to herself

After a moment, the bartender returned with a bottle of fine red wine, carefully selected to match the elegance of Cassandra's presence. However, as she approached Cassandra's spot at the bar, she was met with an unexpected sight. A small crowd had gathered around Cassandra, drawn to her like moths to a flame.

Among the onlookers, a group of young men vied for Cassandra's attention, each attempting to capture her interest with charming smiles and confident gestures as prattled on about their shallow accomplishments. They leaned in, eager to engage her in conversation and perhaps win her favor.

"Jeez... these guys are shameless, but I don't think I even blame them, she feels so unreal, like she's straight out of a storybook," the bartender muttered to herself, observing the scene with a tinge of jealousy.

With practiced ease, she slid the bottle of wine across the polished tabletop towards Cassandra, with it stopping just shy of her reach. It was a gesture she had performed countless times before, a routine in the dance of bar service.

With measured precision, the bartender retrieved a glass from behind the counter, polishing it with a rag that hung on her shoulder and slid it across the polished bar top, bringing it to a gentle halt next to the bottle of wine. It was a practiced movement, executed with the ease of someone who knew their craft well.

Returning to Cassandra's end of the bar, the bartender began to pour the wine into the glass, her movements fluid and unhurried despite the subtle tension in the air.

"You have my gratitude Miss, I'd appreciate you leaving the bottle" Cassandra flashed a half smile that made the bartenders heart skip a beat

With a slightly reddened face she replied, "Sure thing, please feel free to ask if you need anything else."

Amidst the circle of eager suitors vying for her attention, Cassandra remained composed, her demeanor poised and collected. Despite their persistent attempts to impress her with their worldly accomplishments, it was clear she was not interested. However, with a subtle smile and occasional nod, she skillfully gave the impression of engagement, allowing them to believe they had captured her interest.

Cassandra lifted the glass to her lips, taking a sip of the wine. Instantly, her eyes widened as the rich, fruity sensation enveloped her mouth. Such exquisite quality was a rarity in Ocoris, usually reserved solely for nobility. With her domain far from civilization, obtaining such fine drinks was always a challenge. She savored the taste, allowing it to linger on her palate, indulging in the luxurious experience.
