Cassandra awoke abruptly from her sleep, muttering to herself, "Did I fall asleep? What is going on with me recently, to let my guard down this much is unprecedented."
Maeve was still asleep.
Cassandra looked at her. "This girl, how does this fragile little thing tear down my defences so easily?"
Maeve woke shortly after, saying, "Crap, I fell asleep too."
She dug into the plastic bag she brought and brandished the phone she bought for Cassandra.
"Here, I've set it up already. I'll show you how to use it."
About 30 minutes passed, and Cassandra, being of a very high IQ & intellect, grasped the concept almost immediately.
Cassandra's eyes widened with fascination. "This is revolutionary! So you're telling me anything I want to know, I can ask this mobile phone with the letters displayed on this keypad , and within a few seconds, I'm bestowed with millions of answers from scholars all over this realm?"
Maeve replied, "Well, essentially yes. It does a lot more than just answer questions, but yeah, that's the gist of it."
Cassandra was ecstatic, utterly entranced by her new phone. The joy on her face was evident; she couldn't even hide it. Maeve observed Cassandra, tapping and scrolling through the phone.
"She's like a little girl who just got a birthday present. I wish I could just live in this moment forever," Maeve thought as she sat there with her cheek resting in her hand, watching Cassandra.
"You know, I still don't know your name," said Maeve, distracting Cassandra from her phone.
Cassandra stood up, and with a snap of her fingers, the same green flames danced around her nightgown, transforming it into a different outfit. Although less formal than what she wore yesterday, it still emitted an air of sophistication.
"How rude of me." She extended her hand towards Maeve the same way royalty would.
Maeve took her hand, and Cassandra bowed slightly. "I am Cassandra Hecate, third daughter of the great mage Arabathos, ruler of my domain, and wielder of the mystical and arcane arts."
Maeve stood in amazement, offering little claps, "Whoa, I feel like I've just met a queen or something,"
"Now, I have some questions I'd like for you to answer," Cassandra said to Maeve.
As if she had been waiting to be asked, Maeve quickly responded, "I'm Maeve De Luca, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. De Luca, watcher of movies and eater of foods," she said playfully.
"That's not the question I had in mind."
"Oh,"
"These living quarters are less than ideal. I could easily erect a makeshift fortress, but after what you showed me in that moving picture box, I see now that humans treat anything they do not understand as a threat."
"So she did understand the moral of the point I was trying to get across,"
"I need new living quarters. This 'apartment', as you called it, is far too compact. I require space; the magic circles I draw are bigger than this very room," said Cassandra.
"So, you need a place. I'd be more than happy to help you look, but do you even have money? Because you'll need money, a lot of it."
"What manner of currency is used in this land?"
Maeve brought out a 5 dollar bill and waved it around. "This,"
"Hmm, I'm not familiar with it. May I?" Cassandra said as she held out her hand.
Maeve handed her the note.
"Wow, you people adorn your money with your own faces, how egocentric. And why is it constructed from paper, isn't this too fragile a material for something so valuable?"
Maeve replied "you know what, I've always wondered the exact same thing."
Cassandra held the note flat in the palm of her hand and then covered it with her other hand. After a few seconds there was a faint green glow coming from the bill. As she lifted her hand, thousands of 5 dollar bills scattered into the air, continuously flowing from the original one still in her hand.
Cassandra looked at Maeve. "Will this be enough?"
"What the f-" Maeve was abruptly cut short.
"So, what say you?" Cassandra said with 5 dollar bills still flowing from her hand, flying all over the place.
"Locating new living quarters shall be today's main focus."
"Okay, but we're coming back to this at a later on. I mean, come on, you can replicate money, that's insane."
"Nothing but a simple duplication spell darling." said Cassandra.
Maeve made her way over to her laptop and began house hunting. The two spent the next few hours looking at places that Cassandra might find suitable.
