Chapter 79 - Chapter 75 : J. Jonah Jameson is Dead

"Charging Into 'Em Like A Bull — That's How We Grow As People.

~Rick

"Mr. Haytham, are you kidding me?"

Hearing Jude's $40 billion offer, Panderney was stunned. He expected the other party to desperately bargain, considering it a normal business practice.

"Am I like a joke?"

Panderney wanted to nod and say yes; after all, Jude was still holding a bottle of whiskey in his hand. If he hadn't seen the Bugatti Veyron parked downstairs, he would think he was a drunken lunatic.

"$40 billion U.S. dollars, plus one condition: if you nod your head, the money will be credited immediately."

"What condition?"

"I want to build a state-of-the-art laboratory as quickly as possible, so I don't have time to wrestle with suppliers. You've been operating a scientific research center for more than 30 years, and you must have your supply channels, maybe even secret ones. First, order a batch of goods for me, and then you can tell them that I'll be taking over here, Mr. Panderney. If your task is completed, your brain has served its purpose."

Pandeney's brain stalled for a while. He thought it was a harsh condition, but he didn't expect that it would be accepted so readily. Isn't he just a middleman in this deal? If there are leeks, are they still human?

After a while, Panderney said, "Mr. Haytham, can you give me some time? I need to call my partners; after all, they also have shares."

"Yes, but try to be as fast as possible."

Jude instructed the female secretary to entertain him well, and Panderney hurried out of the office.

In recent years, business people always had their contacts, and Panderney needed to check Bond Haytham, the man who threw out $40 billion, and his tone was too bold.

"Sean, it's me; yes, I'm planning to sell the institute."

"Yes, so there is something I need your help with. I want to verify the identity of a person."

More than half an hour later, Panderney returned to the office. His face was full of entanglement. He wanted to verify Jude's identity through his contacts, but the other party came up with a Latvian saying that it was used without his authority, and verifying the identity wasn't possible. Nevertheless, the windfall was too tempting to let go. If identity verification couldn't be done, then it could only be proven by the cold, hard cash.

"Sorry, Mr. Haytham, it took a while."

"It's okay; have I verified my identity?"

"You are from Latvinia; I don't know about the others," Panderney said, a bit embarrassed.

"Yes, Latvinia is a good place. It's closed and secretive, coupled with a powerful king. You can never tell whether you should believe in God, so I decided to leave and come to America."

Panderney nodded. Almost no one knew the name of Lord Dumu, who engaged in science and technology. So, Jude's words seemed both true and false. There were many scammers these days.

"Mr. Haytham, given your situation, I would like to add a clause to the contract. If the money is not received within a week, the contract will automatically be deemed invalid."

"As a form of insurance, I accept that. Even within a week, if I sign a contract now, the money will be paid immediately."

Pandeney frowned, feeling like he was dealing with a lunatic because what Jude was saying sounded too unreliable.

"Hurry up and decide so that I can still enjoy a pleasant lunch."

Pandeney winked, and the female secretary returned soon after walking out, holding a document.

After a glance, Jude's requirements were listed, and Jude immediately signed Bond Haytham's name.

"Happy cooperation, Mr. Penderney."

"Happy cooperation, Mr. Haytham."

"Place an order for me, and the money will be credited soon."

Jude said, handing over a stack of papers. These were things he needed to sort out the night before. The equipment in the 30-year-old research institute was undoubtedly aging. There was no need for it, and there was nothing he needed. It was just this piece of land and the buildings on it.

Panderney took a brief look, and then his face changed. He saw a colloidal carbon synthetic fiber element manufacturing machine, a nano-level spot cutter, a differential atomic force microscope, a super brain-level speed-of-light computer, a Br2 quark analysis instrument, a blood spectrum DNA viewer, and so on. In addition to these things, there were hundreds of tons of chemical raw materials, tens of thousands of basic assembly materials, and many rare materials that were hard to buy on the market.

These items were diverse and eye-catching in quantity; among them, there were a large number of dangerous chemical substances, some of them even military-grade, expressly prohibited for civilian circulation.

Panderney swallowed and felt that something was off. How would ordinary people need these things? He stared at Jude carefully and asked, "Mr. Haytham, can you please tell me what you want these things for?"

"Only for research; rest assured, I will never use them to harm the United States, let alone hurt you. You can also benefit a lot from it, can't you?"

Panderney hesitated and said, "But I have never heard of many of the instruments involved in it. They don't appear on the market; is it new technology?"

Jude was thoughtful. He had just written down what he needed off the top of his head. It seemed that Earth's technology was far from being developed to that level.

"It doesn't matter if you don't have them; substitutes are okay. In short, I need to set up a laboratory as quickly as possible. I hope you understand this."

Pandeney nodded. "I will try my best to help you."

"Very good. If the money is available this afternoon, you can estimate what I want. How much deposit is needed?"

Panderney took out a calculator, and after typing for a long time, he probably got a result.

"According to my estimation, the total price is about $78 billion U.S. dollars. Of course, it mainly involves a lot of rare materials. These things are not in circulation on the market, but I can find them on the black market, so the price is relatively expensive. If..."

Jude interrupted him directly: "No 'ifs.' $80 billion U.S. dollars. I don't care how much you will get from it; I just want it fast, understand?"

Penderney nodded hard; he suddenly felt that he was too conservative, and the money seemed to be just a bunch of numbers to the person in front of him. His situation was still too small.

Leaving the Pampas Research Center, Jude drove back to the hotel and turned on the radio in the car at will. The car news began to broadcast.

New York Noon News: Yesterday there was a homicide in our city. The former president of the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson, was murdered. It has been less than a month since he left his job, and the murderer has not been caught yet.

"Jameson, isn't that the mustache president from Spider-Man? This happened right after he was targeted by the Wayne Group. It's a bit miserable. He must have provoked a lot of enemies with that big mouth of his."
