The group surrounding the horse dealer consisted of sturdy men, their actions calm and quiet, quite different from the people around them. They seemed to have agreed on the price and were now taking off the bags from their backs, preparing to exchange them for horses. The horse dealer's eyes lit up; what a significant deal! Exchanging for pearls and tools from the Persia to bring back to the Tribes meant he could acquire more slaves and raise more horses. With the imminent war between Roman and Persia, everyone was seizing the last opportunities for trade. If they didn't make the most of this chance now, who knew when the next one would come? Just as they were about to finalize the deal, a guy with a peculiar accent shouted in Latin, "I'll take all these horses!"
All eyes turned to look at the strange-looking guy, emitting shouts of challenge. Observing his peculiar attire, the potential horse buyers wore cautious expressions, but none of them spoke up for the moment.
Glancing at the circling falcon in the distance, Lucas took a deep breath and, steeling himself, confronted the horse dealer. "How much for these horses? I'll pay double!" The vigilant expressions on the men deepened, and some began to rest their hands on the weapons at their waists. The horse dealer wasn't a fool, he could tell that this group of customers were tough guys. He valued his goods according to the buyer's worth. The peculiar guy before him was covered in mud, grass, and blood, without a trace of fabric on him. What did he have to offer in exchange for the horses? The dealer didn't want to invite trouble.
The dealer chuckled, "Sir, these horses have all been sold. I hope you can understand. If there's business in the future, I look forward to the your generous patronage." Although the horse dealer was a Khazars, after doing business in Persia for a long time, he was no different from the local businessmen. Lucas knew that today he had to play tough, the Persia hunting troops behind him were not to be trifled with. Time was running out, and he had no choice but to play the role of a robber.
He smiled, then suddenly pulled out his wallet from his pocket and threw all the cashes into the air, "All the money is yours! I want the horses!" The air was filled with fluttering pieces of paper, and the dollars danced in the chilly air over a millennium ago. People's gazes were involuntarily drawn to the spectacle. In a flash, Lucas had leaped onto a fully equipped red horse, tethered another one, shouted loudly, and charged outwards. One of the horse buyers reacted swiftly, unsheathing his long sword to confront Lucas. Lucas's empty right hand swiftly grabbed him, and the man felt an irresistible force lifting him into the air. In the next moment, he was thrown into the crowd with a resounding crash. Over a dozen men tumbled in a heap but quickly got up, clamoring and shouting. Lucas had already led the horses out of the crowd. He reached out and grabbed the hand that Ariana extended. With a slight exertion, she gracefully soared into his arms. The spirited horses neighed, racing like the wind through the narrow streets. The surrounding people were frightened and dodged to the sides. In the blink of an eye, the two of them vanished without a trace. The scene left behind was one of chaos, along with the horse trader holding a perplexing bill, muttering, "My God, what kind of money is this!"
The group of horse buyers finally reacted. they were a strong force in between Persia and the Khazars, and this guy dared to stir up trouble on their turf! Several robust men immediately seized the horses and rode after them. Although these horses were without saddles, judging by their agile movements on the bareback horses, they were all skilled riders! Others headed straight for the tavern on the edge of the horse market, charging into those houses.
"Miss, someone is stealing our horses!"
A girl dressed as a warrior slammed the table and stood up. The wine bowls and dishes on the table jumped high. She was even taller than Ariana. In the era where Lucas originated, it was a standard model figure. Her fair face had a charming yet slightly annoyed expression, and her slightly squinted eyes exuded an indescribable charm. However, the two finely slanting eyebrows added a touch of elegance to her.
"You guys, only good at eating. When did our Ashina tribe suffer such losses? Let my father know, and he'll mock me again for being a girl who can't handle things? Why are you still standing there? Hurry up and chase after them!"
The man seemed to hold great respect for the girl: "Miss, Altan and Feride have already gone after them. We're seeking your guidance on how to handle this..."
The girl grabbed the whip from the table, her face now excited and flushed: "Why aren't you following me to chase after them? Catch that thief and give him a good beating. See who would dare to make trouble in our Asena in the future!"
