"Nooo. I— I can't, my mother-in-law would be worried," Skyla tried to wriggle out of his stronghold again. It was of no use though.
"Tell her you are staying with Huria tonight. Her home is nearby and the storm is horrendous," he nonchalantly added as if he had thought this through and through.
"And what will I tell Huria? If someone was to ask her, she would have no clue."
"The truth, that you are with me. I am sure Miss Huria won't mind at all, knowing I would never hurt you." He let go of her waist and affectionately cupped her face with both his hands.
"You trust me? You know I will never harm you or let anyone else do it," he asked with such tenderness that she was reduced to a mere kitten in his hold, who wanted nothing but purr and watch him with those needy eyes.
