Chapter 22 - 22 : Azure Dragon Echoing caves

Early Morning... All the core disciples of the clark sect were gathered at the royal hall of the clark clan. Everyone is waiting with anticipation as the head of the sect, the clark clan's Patriarch making an announcement.

The sect head, an old man with a long white beard, who also bore the mantle of the king of the Clark clan, sat majestically on his high throne. His presence commanded respect, and his wise eyes surveyed the hall with a mix of sternness and pride.

Among the disciples, Crown Prince Ethan and the second and third princesses stood out, their royal status intertwined with their roles as sect members. Their expressions mirrored the seriousness of the occasion, understanding the weight of the news that had brought them all together.

The hall was divided into two distinct halves. On one side, the sect elders, venerable figures in their own right, their faces etched with the wisdom of years spent in the pursuit of cultivation. On the other, family members of the Clark clan, each with their own interests and allegiances within the sect's hierarchy.

At the very back stood Ria, positioned in the last line of disciples. Her gaze was fixed on the sect head, a mixture of respect and curiosity in her eyes. She, like many others in the room, was keenly aware of the significance of this assembly.

The air was thick with unspoken questions and speculations. The Royal Arena competition, a prestigious event that had the power to shape the future of the sect and its disciples, was on the cusp of commencement. The anticipation was palpable, each disciple mentally preparing for the announcement they knew was forthcoming.

As the sect head cleared his throat, a hush fell over the hall. All eyes were on him, waiting for the words that would set the course for the days ahead.

"Did you all see the Royal Arena announcement?" the sect head asked, his voice resonating throughout the hall. The disciples nodded in unison, a wave of affirmation.

"Our sect has two spots for the competition," he continued, his gaze sweeping across the room. "I do not wish to show favouritism to anyone, not even to my son, Ethan. I want to give everyone a chance to prove their worth and bring glory to the sect."

"Patriarch, Prince Ethan is a strong and deserving candidate for the competition. We all see the hard work he puts in every day. There's no need to doubt his strength and…" A relative of the prince, eager to assert his position, quickly interjected in support of Ethan.

His words were cut short as the sect head raised his hand, signaling for silence. "As I said, I want to give everyone a chance for those two spots," he stated firmly.

"Everyone, you will be going to the Azure Dragon Echoing Caves for two weeks. After the training, we will conduct a competition among you to select the two representatives. Pack your things and be ready by tomorrow morning. Madam Frost and Elder Ring will accompany you. Use this chance well. The sect is investing more than 10,000 Grade 4 spirit stones for this training. Also, be aware that there will be disciples from other sects present at the Azure Dragon Echoing Caves."

The announcement sent a ripple of excitement and apprehension through the crowd. The Azure Dragon Echoing Caves were renowned for their rigorous and effective training environment, a place where only the most dedicated could thrive.

Whispers and murmurs filled the hall as the disciples began to disperse, each lost in their thoughts about the opportunity and the challenges ahead. Ria, deep in contemplation, knew this was her chance to prove her worth and potentially participate in the Royal Arena.

As the disciples exited the hall, conversations about strategies, alliances, and potential rivals sprang up. The presence of other sects in the Azure Dragon Echoing Caves added an element of unpredictability to their preparation.

Ria, amidst the sea of disciples, felt a surge of determination. The next two weeks would be crucial, and she was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. With Eric's training and the Frost Whisper at her side, she was more than prepared to seize this opportunity.

In the serene herb garden of the royal sect, Eric found solace from the bustling energy of the training grounds and the palace. His time is spent tending to the medicinal plants, his hands skillfully nurturing the herbs that were vital to the sect's healers and alchemists. The peacefulness of the garden provided him a much-needed reprieve from the undercurrents of intrigue and ambition that flowed through the sect.

As the sun began its descent, casting long shadows over the garden, Eric sat alone on the grass, surrounded by the fragrant aroma of herbs. The tranquility of the evening was a balm to his spirit, a moment to gather his thoughts and reflect on the challenges ahead.

Suddenly, the quiet was broken by the soft rustle of wings. An eagle-like bird, majestic and imposing, landed gracefully on a nearby branch. Its sharp eyes seemed to hold a depth of understanding beyond that of a normal creature. Tucked within its feathers, Eric noticed a small bead, shimmering with an inner light.

Curiosity piqued, Eric reached out and gently extracted the bead. Instinctively, he whispered a command as he recognised the Lionheart family seal, and the bead sprang to life, projecting a scene that took his breath away.

Before him unfolded a vision of the survivors of his once-proud Lionheart family. They were hidden away in a secluded hill, their new home a network of caves carved into the earth. The sight stirred a well of emotions in Eric's heart – pain for their loss, relief at their survival, and a burning desire to reunite with his kin.

As he watched the scene, memories of his past life with the Lionheart family flooded back, each one a reminder of the love and camaraderie they shared. The realization that they were still out there, holding on to hope, reignited a fire within him. He knew he had to find them, to bring them back into the fold of the cultivation world where they belonged.

Lost in thought, Eric was startled by the sudden arrival of foot steps. He install hid the bird in his spirit pearl.

A young man came in a hurried pace, he stamped his foot before delivering his message. "You, Princess Lanner commands that you prepare to accompany her to the Azure Dragon Echoing Caves along with her servants."

Eric nodded, his mind still reeling from the revelation of his family's whereabouts. "I will be there tomorrow morning," he replied, his voice steady despite the turmoil within.

The messenger departed, leaving Eric alone once more with the fading light. He looked down at the bead in his hand, now dormant, a physical connection to his lost family.
