Briskly, Valerius went up the grand staircase of the mansion before stepping into a spacious hallway that was adorned with the portraits of his ancestors. He moved through it quickly.
Just as he turned a corner, he spotted Anna. She was standing close to his room with her back resting against the wall.
'What's she doing here?' Valerius couldn't help but wonder, his curiosity piqued.
At that very moment, as if sensing his presence, Anna's gaze shifted towards him. Her eyes widened slightly in relief at the sight of him. It was as though she had been waiting for him, and now that he was finally there, a weight had lifted off her shoulder.
"Young master, where have you been? I have been looking for you since the middle of the night," Anna said as she straightened up from her relaxed stance against the wall and walked up to him.
"Why?" Valerius asked, "What came up?"
