Chapter 1010 Hundred Years Ago Backup

What is cultivation?

This is something abstract, but it does exist.

Every cultivator practices different methods, but ultimately, they all lead to the same goal. However, they are marked by the distinctive imprints of their respective practices.

The three golden figures in front of Li Fan were of ordinary human size. Like the luminous square encountered earlier, they were pure manifestations of cultivation.

Moreover, they represented the culmination of an exceedingly condensed and incomprehensible sum of cultivation.

Not only that, Li Fan also keenly sensed that each of these golden figures contained a different aura, each with a distinct characteristic, like the intricate construction of a unique mechanism.

Li Fan was convinced that if he were to act carelessly and trigger a mechanism on the golden figures, they would probably carry out a predetermined task.

"There is no sign of spiritual energy operating here. It is solely formed by the accumulation of cultivation."

"Is this meant for complete concealment?"

"The use of such exquisite and unparalleled application is truly difficult to imagine."

After a moment of contemplation, Li Fan used a bit of spiritual power to retreat to a safe location.

Then, manipulating the spiritual power as a guide, he forcefully pierced one of the golden figures.

Like a barrel of dynamite being detonated, an extremely violent and unstable aura suddenly erupted.

Then, the golden light quickly retracted, with only the eyes still emitting uncontrollable radiance.

As a result, Li Fan was able to clearly see the appearance of the golden figure.

To his surprise, this golden figure, completely constructed from pure cultivation, was almost identical to the Celestial Deity's appearance!

Or rather, it was built to resemble the Celestial Deity figures that were spread throughout the vast domains of the Immortal Alliance.

Upon awakening, the golden figures did not hesitate for a moment. It seemed as if they were surveying the stored materials in this spatial area according to a predetermined procedure.

Their hands pointed in the air, and streaks of golden light emanated from their bodies, imbuing previously lifeless items with spirituality after being touched by the golden light of cultivation.

Upon finishing all this, the first golden figure looked at its two other sleeping companions and released a beam of light from each eye, focusing it on them.

The second and third golden figures were then activated in succession.

The second figure shattered and turned into viscous gold-colored liquid, flying into the fuzzy humanoid form assembled by the first figure.

The third figure turned into a radiant light, drilling out from the ground, its destination unknown.

Absorbing the golden liquid, the humanoid form became much more vivid.

However, it seemed to not possess its own consciousness.

Not until shortly after, the third golden figure returned, inserting a black, constantly undulating unknown object into it.

Life suddenly appeared.

"This is the contingency plan for the revival of the Spirit-Origin Sect Leader?" Li Fan, hiding in the distance, couldn't help but think darkly.

And seemingly to confirm Li Fan's conjecture.

After the strange wriggling of the golden liquid, it gradually solidified into an entity.

A somewhat strange, metallic, grating voice came from below: "Am I...dead?"

The tone was a bit bewildered and resentful.

The Spirit-Origin Sect Leader looked at the two golden figures guarding by their side, and was unexpectedly a bit surprised: "Created Golden Figures? Did I really succeed in developing this thing? Damn..."

Instead of being joyful about his resurrection, the Spirit-Origin Sect Leader was rather agitated and uneasy.

"According to my memory, there must have been at least a hundred years of research for a qualitative breakthrough."

"Right, there should be a Time Coronet Orb here."

After rummaging around, the Spirit-Origin Sect Leader indeed found what he was looking for in a corner.

After reading the result, his face changed dramatically: "After three hundred and twenty-eight years? So much time has passed, how could my backup memories still be revived?"

After a brief panic, the young Spirit-Origin Sect Leader quickly calmed down.

According to the level of caution with which I operate, it's impossible for there not to have been a backup memory for over three hundred years. But my revival still depends solely on myself..."

"The only explanation that makes sense is that an unexpected disaster occurred. It led to the destruction of all backup memories that followed."

"Hiss..."

The Spirit-Origin Sect Leader took a sharp breath.

"It seems that the Spirit-Origin Sect will inevitably perish with me. It's really too difficult to accomplish great things with a group of clueless individuals."

Saying so, the Spirit-Origin Sect Leader seemed to be verifying his conclusion and began attempting to use the Lifeforce Origin Technique.

What surprised him was that there were no obstacles at all in practicing it; it was unusually smooth.

At the same time, he vaguely sensed that as many as a million people were practicing the Lifeforce Origin Technique at the same time!

"What's going on?" The Spirit-Origin Sect Leader was suddenly very alarmed.

He furrowed his brow and paced back and forth.

He eventually conceived a possible explanation: there must have been a traitor in the sect, who not only killed him but also erased all of his backup memories.

Only the most primitive one, perhaps because of its extreme age, was preserved.

But this conjecture left the Spirit-Origin Sect Leader even more puzzled.

"What have I been through to trust outsiders so much?"

"Even the deepest secrets can be leaked, and I ended up trusting the wrong person, ultimately being killed..."

The Spirit-Origin Sect Leader racked his brains, but could not make sense of it.

Finally, he sighed heavily: "Without figuring out exactly what happened, I can only keep my head down and carry on."

"But I've been through this before, and I'm used to it."

"It's hard to believe that after escaping to a world of cultivation that escaped disaster, I find myself in such a situation. It's really frustrating..."

As he complained, the Spirit-Origin Sect Leader's body, composed of parts and substantial cultivation, began to change.

His arms transformed into a long, narrow conduit, plunging into the square wall beneath his feet.

From the flickering golden light emanating from the duct, it was evident that the Spirit-Origin Sect Leader was absorbing the cultivation stored within the square.

And his aura, having just been reborn in the early Qi-refining stage, was rapidly soaring.

"Luckily, after all these years, I have accumulated a considerable amount of reserve cultivation. I should be able to restore my original strength soon," said the Spirit-Origin Sect Leader.

At that moment, however, he was astonished to realize that he had suddenly lost control of his body.

Realizing that he was under attack, he immediately tried to command his two golden guardian figures.

But before he could give an order, he saw a statue exuding a sacred and compassionate aura occupy his mind.

"Compassion in the Mortal World..."

His mind was captured, and all thoughts were interrupted.

When he came to, he had no idea where he was.

When he tried to contact the two guardian figures, he found that he couldn't establish a link at all.

The Spirit-Origin Sect Leader's heart sank.
