The birds were chirping, and the sun shining. All the rain and thunder from last night has vanished and the remains of puddles fill various areas of the ground outside. The grass glistens from the sunlight almost like its morning dew.
As Max slowly opens his eyes, he finds himself alone in Emma's bed. Slowly sitting up with messy bed hair. Max looks around and finds a small black cat with green eyes staring at him from the edge of the bed.
"No way! Emma turned into a cat!"
Max was obviously kidding... I think.
"M-Max? Are you awake?"
The voice came from the direction of the cat. Suddenly Max's face turned into a surprised expression.
"Emma! Are you really the cat?!"
"W-What?"
Max scrambles the bed as he jumps over to the cat and grabs hold of it.
"It's okay! I'll protect you, and feed you! Wait does that mean you can't eat human food anymore?! Oh no you have to be stuck eating that processed hard food that is awful."
"M-Max I-."
"I'll have to get you a good litter box and keep your potty clean for everyday to come."
Max started to tear up at the thought of Emma turning into a cat.
Suddenly Emma entered from behind the bedrooms bathroom door. With a towel wrapped around her hair and a very noticeable difference in her look.
"Emma!! You're not a cat!"
"N-No, I was just getting ready for work."
Instantly it clicked as Max stared at her longer.
"Wait, Emma your eyes they're different a different color! They were hazel last night! Now they're green!"
"O-Oh yeah I-I change my eye color e-every month."
"Oh right!"
Max slams his right fist into his left hand.
"It's the start of July! Which means..."
Suddenly an exclamation mark appeared above Max's head.
"The project's final deadline is closing in!"
"We've got to pull off a truck load! If we want to finalize the product!"
Max scrambles his hair with his hands and makes it even more messy out of frustration.
"Ah shit, I forgot I also have a thing today with Josh!"
"A-A thing?"
"Well for context, Josh is apart of a band and he plays bass. His reasoning was because he read these books about a bass player who had to fight this girls seven evil Ex's. I guess he thought if he became a bass player he'd get something similar."
Max shrugs with a sigh.
"But they're lead singer has a bad cold and need me to take the place for their event today."
"Y-You can sing?"
Max's face started to blush brightly.
"I-I p-practiced a lot in middle and high school!"
Once again Emma chuckles at Max's reaction to his past. Causing Max to smile shyly while he rubs his neck with his right hand.
"Y-You know if you want to come-."
"O-Okay!"
Emma blurted unintentionally before suddenly grabbing the towel from her hair and covering her face with it, and making her way back into the bathroom.
"Its at seven tonight, at Ruoff's Music Center in Noblesville! I-I'll see you there!"
Max hops out of bed, petting the mysterious black cat as he leaves the room.
While Max left to get his clothes and to get ready to leave. Emma sat against the bathroom door with a big smile on her face.
*Max's House*
As the front door opens and Max walks in, he's stopped in his tracks almost instantly.
"J-Josh!!"
Josh suddenly flops off the couch in surprise from the shout. Quickly getting up ready to fight with a weak looking karate stance.
"O-Oh its only you."
Josh slowly lowers his guard as he realizes its Max. Suddenly labels start popping up around the room; Josh's trash, josh's clothes, Max's Movie's scattered around the floor, Josh's cereal bowls. It continued to get worst and worst.
Slowly Max raised his right hand and clenched a fist.
"What part of have this place cleaned up before I get back don't you understand!"
Josh observes the room around him.
"I swear it wasn't like this yesterday!"
"Because I was hear to keep it contained yesterday!" Max shouts as he rushes to punch Josh in the face.
"Please anything but the face!"
As Max gets closer he hears a crunch noise under his right foot. Stopping him in his tracks, as he moves his foot. Josh's places his hands against his cheeks and turns into the screaming painting, his face turning pale as he realized what Max just stepped on.
Max's eyes blankly staring at the cracked disk of a limited edition of the complete series box case of the original 1987 TMNT series.
Max inhales slowly, and then exhales slowly.
"Josh... Is that my limited edition-."
Josh quickly jumped to his knees with his hands clamped together to pled for forgiveness.
"Max! Max! Buddy old pal! You know me! I'm human I make mistakes... Please don't kill me."
Josh's eyes were closed as he was scared of what Max was going to do to him. But he continued kneeling there waiting for something that wasn't coming. As he slowly opened one eye he realized Max wasn't in front of him.
"Hey Josh is this your limited Metroid shirt? That I don't know only has like five hundred ever made?"
Josh turned to see Max holding Josh's limited Metroid shirt and a lighter.
"Max please, I beg don't do it! I-I'll replace the disk! I will!"
"Too late Lebowski."
Max took the lighter to the shirt and instantly caught it on fire. Walking it to and past Josh to throw it outside to let it burn. As Josh saw the flame engulf it, he fell onto his back. Tears running down his face.
"T-That was just cruel."
Max puts the lighter away and pats his hands, then with a smile.
"I feel much better."
Max walks past the weeping Josh found on the ground in distraught. As Max walks into the kitchen he begins making a cup of coffee
"Oh yeah, also Emma's coming to the show tonight."
Josh continued looking at the ceiling but instantly took an interest in the conversation.
"Wait! Emma? The Emma Embers?"
"Uh... Yeah?"
Suddenly a light bulb appeared above Josh's head. As Max takes a drink from his newly made cup of coffee.
"YOU SLEPT AT HER HOUSE!"
Immediately Max spits out a burst of coffee and began choking forcefully.
"YOU DID! THAT'S WHY YOU DIDN'T COME HOME LAST NIGHT!"
"S-Shut... U-Up!"
Max continued to cough as Josh walked over to him to hold his arms up.
"Hold me Jack."
"F*** Off!"
