The insightful Ace hurriedly woke his parents up who were lying flat on the bed. As he waited for them to regain consciousness, he took a quick gaze at the sky to determine the time. He was not privileged to be given a phone at the time. His, parents, still waking up looked at him, questioning his actions.
The smile he put on warmed their hearts and they found no need to question him. Ace resumed his gazing for a short while and ran towards the bathroom in the hotel.
The sun, still below the horizon, not visible to the naked eye left the moon some time to shine on the streets. Ace, now in Tokyo admired the streets while he was freshening up.
Ace ready for an outing, waited for his parents while looking at the beautiful city with its street lights complementing it.
He stayed, in patience with his little sister now 8 years old. They kept themselves busy, playing with each other in anticipation of their parents.
"We're ready kids. We may commence the outing". Nichole said while William put on his best pair of shoes.
A phone is the first item for purchase on the list. The family went into their expensive car on their way to a phone shop.
"Finally, I shall grasp a phone in these hands". Ace said as they alighted the car, proceeding into the shop.
Once again, voices making similar comments arousing from the crowd made their way to Ace's hearing range. Upon hearing this, his patience shortened as he ran ahead into the shop.
His mentality changed alongside his mood. The once happy Ace suddenly became impatient. He went speedily to all the places they visited until he snapped.
"Can I ask again? What are those creatures". His parents looked at him worriedly wondering where he had been hearing such information from. They took a brief pause, looked at each other and said,
"Ok. Come with us".
Ace had finally gotten what he wanted. He felt joy as they all entered their dazzling car.
They rode to a hidden facility on a calm and serene street. No one in sight. Ace, in particular, started feeling anxious because of the overly quiet road.
It was an eye to behold. The 10-floor tall building in the middle of nowhere. A facility abandoned by the outside community yet still functional.
"We have arrived, son". William said, admiring the facility he hadn't seen for a while. He changed his view to Ace awaiting his response.
"Dad, where is this place. Are we still in Tokyo?". Ace spoke with a hint of anxiety.
William saw his expression and told him,
"Don't worry, we're your parents after all. We won't let you get harmed. We've done it before and we will do it again".
Ace ignorant of the reason his father made that last comment, gathered all his courage and proceeded into the facility. His family led the way, and Ace followed in their footsteps.
The family entered and the door shut. Computers, laboratories, and personnel occupied the facility. Advanced functions were being carried out in the facility. No one but members of the hidden society could comprehend their activities.
As soon as they reached a separation in the facility, a room designated for their family, Nichole spoke,
"This is where we work. You'll understand when you start your school".
"The happenings in Tokyo and the rest of the world are shields from citizens or wielders of the spectrum". As Ace was about to interrupt, his mother cut him off quickly saying,
"As I said, you'll understand better when you attend the academy"
"What you heard as strange creatures were demons". Ace about to exclaim, got cut off once again but not by Nichole, it was William.
"That's why I told you we've protected you before".
"When you were little, you were attacked by a high-ranking demon. The reason he chose to attack you is still unknown, but the fact is we were able to save you". Ace was restored, and his feeling of safety returned once again upon hearing this.
A strange sound like that of an alarm set off. Only Nichole, William, and the personnel knew the situation. Nichole and William abruptly spoke to Ace,
"Come on Ace, Emma let's go. It's dangerous here".
Unknown to Ace the issue, he was forced by his parents to evacuate. He was dragged by his parents through numerous rooms till they reached the exit.
The light shone through the door as they escaped. But it was not over, a dark, disgusting figure with red intimidating eyes stood beside them.
They all ran, leaving the exorcism to the personnel in the facility. As they approached their car, the mysterious figure started chasing them. They ran for their dear lives as fast as their legs were capable.
At last, they reached their car. As soon as Nichole got in, William started driving. Ace filled with fear and astonishment looked at his mother and asked,
"Mom, what was that?"
Nichole turned back to Ace with an unsubtle look in her eyes and said,
"That's a demon"
Ace was terrified after his mom made such a comment. He looked at the demon from a distance and started hyperventilating. His heart was filled with fear, and his hands and legs, trembling. Only the words his dad gave him kept him conscious.
The car drove at full speed back home. It had finally reached the beautiful sparkling city.
They alighted the car, rushed home, locked the door, and rested on the bed. Ace had finally stopped hyperventilating and gave the event a thought. He looked back at his parents and said,
"I'd like to fight those demons". The reason behind that comment, no one even himself knew. He just felt he was destined to defeat those creatures.
His parents, after hearing this, took a brief look at each other, smiled and responded,
"Okay. We've heard"
Ace joining the force to defeat the demons was their original intent, but they decided to let Ace discover his feelings towards the demons.
In the end, Ace's decision was in line with his parents' decision and that of the Supreme Lord.
