She finally located the restroom, used it and walked back to the garden.
"Why have you taken so long?" Jessi said as soon as she returned.
Sabrina sat down gloomily, without saying anything.
Jessi noticed her mood and asked worriedly: "Are you okay?"
"Yes I am. Just tired. Told you I don't like parties." She lied.
"It's not like you danced, so why are you tired?" Jessi scoffed while rolling her eyes.
Sabrina didn't reply but looked around the party as a slow song is played. She spotted him..with his GIRLFRIEND. She clenched her fists hard and gulped her drink then maintained her expression when she noticed her friend was about to notice.
"You said you wanted to show me something. A surprise. What is that?" She smiled.
"Erhmm... I don't know too. Hailey told me that I should take you along, that there is a surprise. I don't know about it."
"Really. So you acted on that wench's order."
"It's not order. I was just curious. And I let you follow me so that I won't go alone."
"So what is that?" Sabrina asked with fire in her eyes.
"That.... I don't know.... I thought is...." Jessi stuttered.
"So.... You know it's HIM right?"
"I swear to God. Just knowing it's him now. I never know he is Jackie's boyfriend." Jessi said. "Have you met him already? What did he say? He must not have forgotten who you are. He loved you till death back then."
"Yes I've met him. He doesn't know who I am." She said sadly.
"Who? Nathan? How come? I remember back then he couldn't stay still without seeing you in a day." Jessi said surprisingly.
"He never acted like he fake it. He forgot me for real." She said sadly, gulping a cup of wine.
"Hey! Don't get drunk. You know your body can't take alcohol." Jessi said trying to collect the cup from her, but to no avail.
Few minutes later, she had already passed out.
The sunlight peaked from the window and shine on her face. Guess her eyes couldn't take the brightness as she stirred awake and her eyes fluttered opened. She yawned slightly and looked around her, with her dimmed eyes wondering where she is. She stood up immediately and realised she was in her room.
"Jessie." She called but heard no reply.
Maybe she had gone for workout, she thought.
It was Sunday, and when it should be a day for some people to rest, it was a day for her to work.
She stood in front of the full-length mirror, running her hands down the smooth fabric of the suit she had chosen for the day. The pants were slim-cut and the jacket nipped in at the waist, giving her a polished, put-together look. She slid on a crisp white shirt and buttoned it up, feeling a sense of power and confidence as she did so. Finally, she stepped into her black pumps, the heels adding a touch of authority to her ensemble. As she looked in the mirror, she felt ready to go to her work.
She texted Jessi before she got out of the apartment.
She took her car from the car park and drove immediately into the WD enterprises.
Immediately she entered the building, the workers slightly acknowledged her presence. There is no one who didn't know who she was in the company. She was the youngest director In WD enterprises. People even wait to ask sometimes, if she knew the boss and she would always replied them NO.
As she entered the elevator, she couldn't help but think of the banner she saw at the front of the company. WELCOME MR. PRESIDENT, that was written on it. She was sure the planner did that, but were they not stupid to think of that. She scoffed and got out of the elevator and elegantly walked to her office.
As she sat down and wanted to continue from where she had stopped on Monday, she couldn't help but pat her head slightly she knew she was suffering from hangover, but she dared not miss today's office.
'I don't know you.' that word kept ringing on her head and she felt so frustrated.
"What? He didn't know me? I am not someone to be easily forgotten like that." She said to herself with a scoff and then later formed a cry expression. "Sabrina, he really did forget me." She said to herself. "And when did he and Jacqueline know each other and start dating?"
Jacqueline actually hated Nathan when they were in high school, because she professed her love to him, which he arrogantly declined.
"I am sorry, I can't love you, so I have to decline. I love Sabrina, and I hope she give me a chance. Even though I am not rich now, I will be rich in the future." He remembered him saying that year, with that his friendly and innocent smile.
What had gone wrong?
She was trying to figure out and didn't know when the door creaked open.
Lucy had knocked several times, but let herself in when she didn't hear a 'come in' from her boss.
"Are you okay, Director?" She asked as she observed the weird behavior of Sabrina, and Sabrina quickly sat upright.
"Oh, what's up?" Sabrina said with a small smile.
Lucy was confused, her boss never start a conversation with 'what's up', and what is up with Sabrina, looking disheveled this early morning?
"Miss Jacqueline decline your offer." Lucy said and she widened her eyes.
"What the fuck is that? Why would she do that?" She asked, raising her voice and shocking Lucy the more. Her boss has been behaving weirdly since, and it's shocking to her. She had never heard her swearing. Sabrina had always been a reserved lady.
"I don't know too. I heard from someone this morning that she is a guest on the president's welcome party and she is on VIP list. Maybe her team think it would be rude for her to be hired by us, when she is already on the VIP list." Lucy rushed her words.
Sabrina rolled her eyes, but smiled at Lucy, after seeing how she was staring at her.
