Chapter 10 - Family II

== 2 years ago ==

A boy about 15 year old can be seen looking eyes to eyes with another boy at height of his shoulder

The one at the taller side stood still with grey ashy hair adorning his figure. It was long, covering up his shoulder entirely.

Holding 2 small daggers, he awaited for the other boy to attack.

- Woosh -

A thrust was summoned as the boy with white hair dashed and took initiative.

- Clang -

but before it could even reach the grey hair boy, it was reflected instantly by his slight twist of the dagger.

Not wanted to lose momentum, Asher changed his sword stance to one of a diagonal slash.

changing his stance by jumping up, he fell back down with a slash using the gravity to enhance his strength.

Mana was filled in the sword, but it was akin to child play, as the amount is awfully small.

A smile plastered on the Ren as he saw the attack of his little brother.

He thought of deflecting it, but he decided not to. ' It might hurt asher ' he came to conclude.

So instead of using the dagger as a mechanism of defense, he sidestepped, and appeared at the vulnerable side of the attacker where the sword was opposite from.

Ren then point his dagger edge to surround his neck signaling Asher's deafeat.

" You lost again Ash " Ren said as he smirk to his brother.

It wasn't the kind of smirk one would make to an enermy.

It was more like of a proud brother instead as he saw the potential his brother had.

Humans would only be able to mature their mana core at the late age of 14, but his brother is already able handle mana to a certain extend at the age of 13.

Although he is not as talented as other people, who are considered as monsters, he's still a noteworthy talent nonetheless.

" huff huff huff " breath of air can be seen escaping and returning in his mouth.

Asher wore tired expression as it had been more than an hour since he was tutored by his brother.

Ren said it was the last sparring session he'll have with him as he'll leave for the academy in 2 days.

So asher obliged with it.

' But if only I knew.. huff... it was this tiring ' He thought to himself. " I wouldn't have agree.. huff "

' We'll atlease I'm adapting to to it '

Getting up from his slumped state, he took noticed of Ren and said " Ren, I'll make you suffer next time we spar, and when I do I'll swear I'll make you fall on your knees!! "

Frustration was all ash could express because, not even once was he able to land a solid attack on Ren.

Hearing his small brother comment, he laughed inwardly, and responded " Sureeee, I would love to see you try " He said that while smirking and smiling widely

He found it real funny, that his brother said that as everyone knows that the mana core will only mature at age 14, Asher'll only have a year at most to train.

Ren's already an [ F ] + nearing to breaking to [ E ] rank. So It'll be difficult to beat that

Adding to the fact the gap between them will also continue to rise, will undoubtedly result in asher's eventual deafeat.

This thought would linger with him for at most 3 years, as he'll soon witness the terrifying growth rate of his so called " quite talented " younger brother in the short future.

And that was the last time Ren and I had spar.

== Present ==

Waking and chatting to each other about normal brother stuff, we soon arrived at the garden of the mansion.

It was the place I used to train my sword.

Being in the training hall under the house is good and all, but I find it much more refreshing to do it in nature.

Ren also likes it as well, so we decided to do it here.

Glancing at the dagger Ren hold, I felt slight annoyance.

It's a mere tool to others but a nightmare to me.

Whenever we do battle, I would always see that pair of daggers deflecting every attack I make, rendering everything I do futile.

The slash, thrust or stab I made were all useless in front of that pair of tool.

It's akin to like walking home without any distance covered.

Redirecting my attention to the sword on my hand, I'm sooned reminded of the many hours I've spent honing it.

The sword is different from the weapon both my father and brother use.

Although my art is not as strong as my father as it's a sword art; not my family's dagger art. It still a good art to learn for basics as it was appraised and found in a dungeon raid dad went on.

So even if the art is rank [ III ] , I'm still confident in its ability to perform in combat as It guarantee perfect swordsmanship.

I encouraged myself inwardly.

" Asher !! " Ren shouted loudly from the other side faraway from my position

" You ready?? "

Hearing that, I glance at the figure standing aloof a bit afar from me.

" Yeah " I replied stoically

Ren was puzzled by my reaction as this wasn't how I used to act whenever we duel, but he paid no mind to it and gave me a nod.

In response to that, I position my legs to the ground, using my hind legs to readied my attacks.

I know that my strength isn't as strong as Ren, from the fact that I can't sense his ranks tell me so.

With that as the cause, I concluded that I can't make it a prolong fight as I know I'll eventually lose.

I'll dished out all my strongest arsenal, and even if I lose, I'll do so while looking cool.

As I thought all that, a grin appeared on my face.

Ren took it as confidence and readied himself to give his brother good beating.

Lost in thoughts, I'm soon reminded of the situation I'm in.

Holding the sword close to my chest, I activated my skill [{C} Temperament Control ] and readied to dish out my strongest attack.
