Karin's eyes widened in concern. "What do we do now?"
Horyu stood up, his expression hardening as he prepared to leave. "Let's go," he commanded. "Seal this place once we're out; it should keep them safe for a week or two."
Karin nodded without hesitation. The other shinobi in the room shifted uncomfortably, sensing the change in Horyu's demeanor. The predatory edge in his eyes, now sharper with the effects of his Sage Mode, silenced any protests they might have had. They stepped back, allowing the trio—Horyu, Kurenai, and Karin—to pass unchallenged. As they exited, Karin swiftly activated the sealing jutsu, ensuring that the bunker was hidden and protected from any specters that might come across it.
Once outside, Horyu turned his gaze westward. "Rain to wash away your tracks," he muttered, a small smirk playing on his lips. "Smart move." He could sense Hinata and Hanabi's chakra in the direction of the Rain Country, but they weren't alone. Specters were closing in on them, and he knew he had to move quickly.
"Let's move," Horyu said silently. Without waiting for a response, he took off, his speed enhanced by the Spectral Sage Chakra coursing through him. Kurenai and Karin followed closely, their faces set with determination.
Meanwhile, in the Rain Country, the air was heavy with moisture, the constant drizzle soaking everything in its path. Hinata and Hanabi Hyuga moved cautiously through the dense fog, their Byakugan activated as they scanned the area for any signs of danger. They had been on the run for hours, evading specters that seemed to appear out of nowhere, relentless in their pursuit.
"Hanabi, stay close," Hinata whispered, her voice tense as she kept a firm grip on her younger sister's arm. The rain made it difficult to see, but their Byakugan allowed them to detect chakra signatures in the area. Unfortunately, the specters were adept at masking their presence, making it nearly impossible to predict where they would strike next.
"I'm right behind you, sis," Hanabi replied, her voice a mix of fear and determination. She was trying to be brave, but the relentless chase was wearing on her. The specters were unlike anything they had ever faced—ghostly, intangible beings that fed on the chakra of the living. Their attacks were swift and merciless, leaving little room for error.
Suddenly, Hinata's eyes widened as she detected a powerful chakra signature ahead of them. "There's something big coming," she warned, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's a Knight-Rank specter."
Hanabi tensed at her sister's words, fear creeping into her heart. Knight-Rank specters were far more dangerous than the lower-ranked ones they had been evading. They were intelligent, powerful, and relentless hunters, known for their ability to track and kill with terrifying efficiency.
"We need to find cover," Hinata said, her mind racing as she scanned the area for a suitable hiding place. The ruins of an old building loomed ahead, offering some shelter from the rain and a possible escape from the specter's line of sight. "Over there," she pointed, and the two sisters made a dash for the crumbling structure.
They reached the ruins just as the specter appeared on the horizon. It was a towering, menacing figure, its form shrouded in a dark, swirling mist. The air around it crackled with malevolent energy, the very ground beneath its feet withering as it moved. Its eyes, glowing with a sickly green light, scanned the area, searching for its prey.
Hinata and Hanabi pressed themselves against the cold stone wall of the building, their breaths coming in shallow gasps as they tried to remain hidden. The specter drew closer, its presence overwhelming, its chakra signature sending chills down their spines.
"We can't outrun it," Hanabi whispered, her voice trembling. "What do we do?"
Hinata's mind raced, trying to come up with a plan. They were outmatched and out of options. Fighting a Knight-Rank specter was suicide, but running wasn't an option either. They would be caught eventually, and then…
"We'll have to fight," Hinata said, her voice filled with a quiet resolve. "But we have to be smart about it. We can't fight it head-on. We need to use everything we've got—our skills, the terrain, anything that can give us an advantage."
Hanabi nodded, her fear replaced by a steely determination. "I'm with you, sis. Let's do this."
Hinata took a deep breath, calming her nerves. "Okay, we'll split up. I'll draw its attention while you prepare a sneak attack from behind. Wait for my signal."
With a final nod, the sisters parted ways, moving silently through the shadows. The rain continued to pour down, masking their movements as they positioned themselves for the fight of their lives.
As the specter drew near, Hinata stepped out from behind the wall, her Byakugan flaring as she locked eyes with the monstrous figure. "Over here!" she shouted, her voice carrying through the rain-soaked air.
The specter's head snapped in her direction, its eyes narrowing as it spotted her. With a low, guttural growl, it began to move towards her, its movements slow but deliberate. Hinata stood her ground, her heart pounding in her chest as she prepared to face the terrifying creature.
"Now, Hanabi!" she shouted, signaling her sister to strike.
Hanabi launched her attack from the shadows, her breath steady as she channeled chakra into her wings. The wings, resembling those of a falcon, unfurled silently behind her, shimmering with the deadly wind chakra that infused them. As she glided gracefully towards the Knight-Rank Specter, her eyes locked onto her target. Her nails elongated into sharp, claw-like appendages, each glowing with the same wind chakra, ready to tear through the specter's ethereal form.
But just as she was about to strike, the specter turned, its glowing eyes locking onto her with an unsettling grin. Hanabi's heart skipped a beat, and in that instant, her entire body froze, suspended in the air as if time itself had come to a halt. The wind chakra around her faltered, the deadly energy dissipating as the specter's malevolent influence took hold.
"I was wondering where you were, little sparrow," the specter sneered, its voice a low, mocking rumble. Its gaze was piercing, filled with a malevolent intelligence that sent shivers down Hanabi's spine. She struggled against the invisible force that held her, but it was as if the very air around her had solidified, trapping her in place.
Hinata watched in horror from her hiding spot, her Byakugan revealing the terrifying reality of the situation. The specter's chakra was overwhelming, a swirling vortex of dark energy that seemed to consume everything in its path. She could see Hanabi's chakra flickering, weakening under the specter's control, and panic began to rise within her.
"Hanabi!" Hinata whispered urgently, her mind racing as she tried to come up with a plan. She knew they were outmatched, but she couldn't just stand by and do nothing. The specter was toying with her sister, and if she didn't act quickly, Hanabi's life would be in grave danger.
Gathering her courage, Hinata focused her chakra into her palms, the familiar warmth of her Gentle Fist technique spreading through her hands. She couldn't let the specter keep its hold on Hanabi. She had to break the control, even if it meant putting herself at risk. With a deep breath, she stepped out from her hiding place, her eyes locked onto the specter.
"Let her go!" Hinata shouted, her voice strong despite the fear gnawing at her insides. She charged forward, her chakra flaring as she aimed a precise strike at the specter's side. The specter turned its attention to her, its grin widening.
Hinata too suddenly froze, her eyes widening in terror as the specter loomed closer. It reached out with a long, clawed hand, tracing the edge of her jawline with a chillingly deliberate touch. "A little rabbit," it sneered, its voice dripping with malice. "Hmmm, you look delicious." Hinata's heart raced, skipping beats as she realized just how terrifying the specter's abilities were. 'How?' Her mind screamed in panic, but even her thoughts felt sluggish, trapped in the creeping paralysis that had overtaken her body. 'How can it be this strong?' She struggled to comprehend the overwhelming power that had rendered her completely helpless, her senses dulled, her body refusing to respond.
The specter stepped back, its grotesque mouth curling into a wide grin as it laughed, a sound that echoed eerily through the rain-soaked ruins. "I am Tranquilizer Demon," it announced with twisted pride, the name rolling off its tongue like a deadly secret. "In your service."
