**************
In the Rain Village, Hanzo, who had been cautiously optimistic about Konoha's intentions, forwent all goodwill he held towards them. He saw the attack as a direct threat and swore to oppose Konoha with all his might.
The Cloud Village was incensed. A, the Raikage, declared that every single Uchiha would be hunted down and killed. His rage was uncontrollable, and the villagers' anger mirrored his. The sight of the destruction left by Shukaku fueled their desire for revenge.
Even the Daimyos, who had previously restrained their villages from full-scale war, finally approved the deployment of Kage and tailed beast-level forces to the battlefield. The appearance of Shukaku was a turning point. It signaled that the conflict had escalated to a level where no one could afford to hold back.
Horyu stood on the Cloud front, his gaze fixed on the horizon. The news of Shukaku's attack had reached him, and he knew the implications. The war had reached a new level of intensity, and there would be no turning back.
In his tent, Horyu sat, his eyes cold and intense, a gaze that could send chills down the spine of even the most hardened veterans. No one dared approach him. "Very good, Namikaze Hirato, very good," he muttered under his breath, his anger barely contained.
When Shukaku had appeared, Horyu was among the first to sense the massive surge of chakra. He had dashed to the location as fast as he could, and despite Hirato's efforts to remain hidden, Horyu spotted him. Even with a mask, Horyu's system identified him. It shocked Horyu to realize that Madara's successor was Hirato, Namikaze Minato's missing son. Everyone in the village had assumed Hirato was dead, much like Obito had been. Clearly, Zetsu and Madara had taken him and brainwashed him.
Horyu rarely lost his composure, but now, as he looked at the scroll on the table, his hands shook with rage. Thousands of Rain civilians had died. He had promised Nagato, Naruto, and the others that he wouldn't escalate the war and that he would protect civilians. He had convinced them to leave the Rain Village, but in the end, he had failed. "Fuck," he cursed under his breath, analyzing the situation.
Shukaku's eyes had shown Madara's Mangekyo Sharingan pattern. But if Hirato had the Rinnegan, how could he use the Mangekyo? This discrepancy troubled Horyu. Previously, he hadn't given much thought to the six Uchiha corpses controlled by the Rinnegan showing the Sharingan, assuming it was a resonance of the two eyes. But this was different. Hirato using both eyes' abilities was a game changer.
Kurenai entered the tent cautiously, sensing Horyu's foul mood. "Horyu, we need to discuss our next steps. The Cloud Village is in chaos, and we have reports of increased activity from the other villages."
Horyu looked up, his gaze hardening. "We need to fortify our defenses and prepare for the worst. Send scouts to monitor the borders and gather any intel on enemy movements. And keep an eye on our own ranks. We can't afford any more surprises."
Kurenai nodded, her face serious. "Understood. I'll relay the orders."
In the Hokage's office, Shisui was tearing through the room in a rage. Papers, scrolls, and even furniture were thrown and shattered. Itachi, Hiruzen, and Jiraiya stood nearby, trying to stay calm amidst the storm.
"Who?! Who is it?" Shisui demanded coldly, his Sharingan blazing with fury. He had been on the verge of negotiating peace with the other villages when the attack on the Rain Village happened. Now, the four great villages anda Hanzo were mobilizing their forces against Konoha. "Damn it!" He punched the wall, cracking the plaster. "Five Kages, at least six Tailed Beasts will descend onto the battlefield."
Hiruzen, the seasoned Third Hokage, watched Shisui with a somber expression. "We need to stay focused. Losing our composure won't help us now."
Jiraiya, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed, nodded. "He's right. We need to figure out who's behind this and how to counter them."
Itachi stepped forward, his face calm but his eyes sharp. "We know it's not Konoha. This has to be a setup. Someone wants to frame us and turn the other villages against us."
Shisui took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. "We need proof. Something that can show the other villages we're not responsible."
Jiraiya's eyes narrowed in thought. "We have contacts. We need to gather intelligence, find out who stands to gain from this chaos."
Hiruzen nodded. "And we need to prepare for the worst. Fortify our defenses, rally our forces. If they're coming, we need to be ready."
Shisui slammed his fist on the desk, but this time with controlled force. "We can't let this destroy us. We'll find out who's behind this and make them pay."
Shisui, after calming down, made his desicion. "I will pull Horyu back," he announced. "Hiruzen, you'll take the Cloud front. A and Bee, possibly with Yugito Nii, will attack your side. Also, I need Horyu's spy network."
Jiraiya frowned. "Hokage-sama..."
Shisui cut him off. "He's better than you in that regard. You need to deal with the League of Immortals. Orochimaru is on the move, and the last thing we need is for them to act against us."
Jiraiya grimly nodded. His old friend had created a syndicate of criminals and gained infamy. Word was they were talking with other villages, and the possibility of mercenary involvement was on the table. The thought of going against four S-Class rogue-nin was chilling.
Shisui tapped the table. "I will go to the Sand front with Itachi and quickly subdue them. After that, we'll move to other fronts. Shikaku, you'll take Inoichi and Choza to the Mist to assist Danzo. You need to hold Yagura and Utakata back. The Aburame, Inuzuka, and the rest of the Hyuga will support the Cloud front."
Hiruzen's face hardened with resolve. "Understood, Hokage-sama. We will hold the line."
Jiraiya took a deep breath, his expression determined. "I'll gather intel on the League of Immortals and see what we can do to counter their moves."
Itachi, standing silently beside Shisui, spoke up. "We need to move quickly. Every second counts."
Shisui nodded. "Agreed. Everyone, prepare for your assignments. We cannot afford to make any mistakes."
As the group dispersed, Shisui turned to Itachi. "Get ready. We'll leave for the Sand front within the hour."
Meanwhile, Horyu sat in his tent, his mood somber. He knew the gravity of the situation and the consequences of the escalating war. As Kurenai entered, he looked up, his face a mask of irritation.
"Horyu, we've received new orders," Kurenai said, her voice steady despite the tension in the air.
Horyu nodded. "What are they?"
Kurenai handed the sealed scroll to Horyu. He opened it and scanned the content quickly. "What is it?" Kurenai asked, curiosity piqued.
Horyu tossed the scroll to her. "You're to pull back from the Cloud front. Third-sama will take over here. You're needed elsewhere," she read aloud, her voice tinged with shock. "Hokage-sama needs your spy network and your skills."
Horyu nodded. "Prepare. You're coming with me."
Kurenai hesitated. "My assignment is still here."
Horyu snorted. "I don't care. I'll talk to Hokage-sama."
Kurenai felt a mix of uncertainty and gratitude. She knew Horyu's decision was to protect her, understanding how dangerous the Cloud front was becoming. She nodded and went to her tent to pack.
