Hearing the doctor say those words, for a second it seemed like everything around her had gone quiet. Emily was looking at the adult in front of her, yet at the same time, her eyes weren't focused. The words 'bad news' just constantly rang in her head again and again, drowning out the noise around her.
It felt as if someone had submerged her underwater, making her unable to breathe. This was because the thoughts she just had moments ago, could very well become a reality.
"Emily!" Her sister called out. "Emily, what's going on? What is he talking about? What happened to Mum?" Salle shouted, panicked as she had no idea that their mother had been brought here as well.
