*KEN'S POV*
The hate I have for whoever is pulling this shit is unfathomable. My desire to just go on a rampage out of pure frustration is steadily rising the longer I am here and the girl who is talking very loudly and very quickly to me is not helping.
The teens behind her weapons drawn and trying to get her to return to them and trying to interrogate me at the same time we're also not helping.
Picking up the chattering teen by her shoulders I began to move her towards her group. They tensed as I approached, and she didn't seem to notice continuing her questions and answers to unanswered questions. After placing her down I turned and headed for the nearest door only to be cut off by Child Flash or something like that.
He opened his mouth to say something probably witty and most definitely would piss me off if I cared to listen, but before he could do so I grabbed him by his mouth and tossed him towards his group I need answers not...whatever this is. Before I could open one of the many floating doors a strong feminine hand grabbed mine. Glowing red eyes glared at me and her grip would have pulverized my wrist and judging by how she looked in shock at the lack of pulverizing she intended to harm me.
Based on her and the others panicked looks that kind of made them look a bit constipated, they were telepathically talking. It honestly looked funny, but they were in my way so. A kidney strike enhanced with super-strength was enough to make her grip falter. Face grab and toss into conrads toppling them all like bowling pins, then warp sword out to the furthest door. I opened it and entered before they could react. I was now in a flat desert with no sign of life in sight. Why is everything so complicated, honestly can't I just find out what the fuck is wrong with me and move on from here.
The thought of teleporting out and coming back another time briefly crossed my mind, but I remembered that in the show Kent died when the team goes to investigate why he hadn't responded in a while.
This universe was different very different...but was it different enough for Kent to live? Perhaps, but was it worth the risk, if I don't do anything? Who would I be left with?
With slumped shoulders I shuffled forward ready to face (send them away via warp gate) my enemies. Looking up towards the sky I began to wonder if I should try to teleport to Kent. The problem with that is that it's more like throwing something in a general direction opposed to aiming right at something.
I then began to wonder if I should go into my God of War loadout, how would the tower react? It didn't react before when I used my quirk but what if I went all out, plus I'm technically entered uninvited. That thing let me in, and I don't really want to fight a living magical building.
Oh, is the reason why nobody let me in because Kent is trapped? I wonder if I can beat that kid with the cat. What was his name again? Ditch boy...no that's not right shi- no, no that's not it.
My pondering was ended by the sight of a floating cane. Within the blink of an eye, I was there surveying the cane. It was just floating there, the thing with magic is that it could make something as innocent as a cane turn into a world ending item.
Reaching out tentatively I grasped the handle and vanished from the desert. I was now in a dark room and from the shadows I could hear someone shuffle forward. It was an old man in a suit he looked as tires as I felt, but he smiled all the same. "Do you think you could hand me my cane.?"
Shrugging I handed it over without a word, he seemed to almost slump when the cane touched the ground. He grumbled something about brats and being too old for this.
I was about to speak but he cut me off "I can't help you. I'm sorry but, I'm not sure anyone or anything can help you. You are marked and from what I can tell you are marked by something very powerful, so powerful that I'm not sure if the powers of fate and chaos combined could break the hold it has on you let alone defeat it...I'm sorry."
He looked at me with such pity that drove home his point. I wanted to say something anything like I just got here how could he know? Shit he didn't even know my name how he could just say something as ominous as that like it was...it was...a fact.
Mouth was dry and my throat had a lump in it. "I've seen it before, normal people good people being dragged into this mess because a God or higher being was bored, I-I don't know what did that to you just that it's powerful." Millions of things passed through my mind denials, questions, confusion and other things that flashed by so fast they weren't worth a second thought.
After a few minutes I licked my lips and took a deep breath before asking one of the questions I came here for. "It did something to my soul, what...what did it do to me?"
He looked at me squinted then came in closer circling around me. He put a hesitant hand on my shoulder almost like he was afraid that he would be hurt if he touched me. Seconds after laying a hand on me Kent gasped and jerking away. "That...that's...it's split not just in two but in so many uncountable pieces."
We stood there for a moment one with shock and horror on his face and the other looking blankly ahead, after a while I summoned something. "Is this one of them." It was a dagger that froze whatever it stabbed. He looked at the dagger slightly surprised before looking at me then nodding.
We both stood there in somber silence, one in pity and the other in acceptance. It was several minutes before I broke the silence. "You got any whiskey?"
With a quirk of his eye and a slight frown Kent reminded me of the downside of having a young body. "Bit young to be drinking?"
Blinking once in surprise, I gave a nonchalant shrug. I've never really had someone question my age when buying alcohol, mostly because when I was underage (and looked it) I could always sneak a drink at a friend's house. As for my second go at life if I ever needed a drink I would...acquire it in a... roundabout way (steal). "Trust me I'm older than I look."
With a chuckle and a shake of his head he tapped the ground with his cane. "Sure, why not, but first I have intruders that I have to deal with...say how did you get in here?"
Snorting I put my hands in my pockets and looked up towards the...sky? Sky. "That is a long story, not as long but long." Kent let out a hum of acknowledgement before we disappeared from wherever we were.
We appeared in a room with what seemed to have no floor. It was just darkness and, in that darkness, floated the helmet of Fate. Kent hobbled towards it yet again grumbling about too old and no respect. Idly I wondered if that's what I sound like when I rant in my head.
He grabbed the helmet but didn't put it on; after tapping his cane again we reappeared in a study. He motioned towards a chair, and I took a seat without a word. He walked towards a cabinet and pulled out a whiskey bottle and two glasses with ice. "Thought you had intruders to take care of?"
He grunted as he sat and began to pour his glass. "I'm leading them here you are a strong kid so you should be able to take care of them." I let out a displeased grunt before grabbing my glass...my empty glass.
Looking at him blankly I lifted it slightly and shook it expectantly. "Just how old are you?" the judgment in his eyes was palpable. "I'm in my forties." He eyed me for a few more moments before pouring.
We both sat in silence for a while, before long a rather large group of teens entered the room, all were ready for a fight...until they saw me and Kent drinking. Kid Flash stomped up to me yelling about something or other.
Without a word a gauntlet made out of chains appeared on my left hand and my warp sword in my right. Chains lashed out binding the group, Supergirl's eyes glowed red, Robin had one arm freed, and the rest were having various levels of success.
The only one who wasn't panicking was Starfire. She had a big grin and was trying to come closer towards me. Not wanting to see if they could escape, I opened a portal and tossed them in. Yet again there was silence in the study.
Taking a sip Kent decided to break the silence. "Where did you send them?" Taking my own sip and letting out a content sigh before taking another sip I decided to ease his slight worry. "An orphanage in Wisconsin, the kids there are past victims of human trafficking, seeing heroes will do them some good."
He let out a hum of approval as he poured himself and me another drink. "Being a hero isn't all about beating bad guys and saving damsels in distress." I nodded at that for the most part I just beat the shit out of people and went on my way but when I was in my Senju loadout, I learned that sometimes people just need to talk to someone to heal.
Once had a guy who lost everything, his wife and kid died in a fight between some B-rank hero and some no name villain. He was on the edge when I found him on all different kinds of drugs and practically had alcohol running through his veins. He was hurt in a way I couldn't fix with my powers...well I could but I wasn't about to erase memories or some shit like that, but the point being after I healed him physically I kinda noticed how...fucked up he was so I lent him an ear.
He cried a lot broke down so bad in tears that his nose started to bleed but listened for two hours about his wife and kid and how he missed them. The next time I saw him he opened a law firm that went after reckless heroes who ended up needlessly causing property damage/killing civilians when they fight, ended a lot of careers... sooo point is listening can do a lot.
For a while Kent and I sat waiting for the next group of people. It was comfortable and if I'm being honest the first time in a while I didn't feel like I was fighting off the world.
I could put off all my problems even the recent problem with Jayden wasn't bothering me. It was nice like I could finally breathe. After a while a crimson circle appeared in the room we were in followed by two people.
"I don't know how you got out, but I won't let you bring out that mean o'l Nabu out! He ruins all the fu-"
"Hand over the Helmet, it's magic belongs to me."
While the second intruder made his demands clear the first had his eyes locked onto me. The bratty childlike attitude the first had disappeared and replaced with a weary gaze like an animal sizing up the intruder on its turf. Like he was seeing if fighting me was even worth it.
I don't know who the second guy is, but this dude is...Stitch Boy or something like that. Point is dudes' bad news, he is a chaos lord or something and he is looking at me funny. If I remember correctly his powers has something to do with that cat in his hands...I think.
The guy he came with was now talking to the man child who was just looking at me. It's beginning to freak me out now, and since we locked eyes if I look away, I'd lose and I ain't no bitch. He was switching between fight and flight like he wasn't sure which to choose. He was as ready to try and obliterate me as he was ready turn tail and run.
If I'm being honest, I'm hoping he'll run, I'm strong I know this, but I have no idea how I'd measure up to someone like him. If Kent is right than the thing that did this to me could handle him no problem, but me? I've only just started scratching the surface of what I can do and I'm sure I have a lot of room to grow and improve, I'm just not sure all that improvement should be done fighting with someone like him.
After a while he spoke with a measured tone "We are leaving." That statement made the second dude freak out and start yelling, but Snitch Boy (no that's not right) didn't break eye contact. After a few more moments of the other dude freaking out Witch Boy (yeah that's sounds right) pointed his palm full with red and black energy at his companion and spoke in a low threatening manner his eyes turned black with tiny red dots for pupils. His face twisted in rage and his thought to be hair proved itself as horns when they grew and seemed more...demonic. "WE ARE LEAVING."
The second guy stopped talking and as soon as he quitted down a red circle similar to the first appeared. During this entire time Witch Boy never broke eye contact. It was like he could see something nobody else could and remembering what Kent told me about being marked made me tense.
I don't remember a lot about Witch Boy, something about chaos and Dr. Fate nemesis. I also remember him being arrogant not in detail but I'm pretty sure that was one of his things.
So if he ran at the sight of me was both good and bad. Good as in he will most likely avoid me at all cost and bad because if someone like him ran at the sight of me meant that all that stuff that Kent said was true...which was bad. "Guess you weren't shitting me about being marked."
With a sigh Kent grabbed his whiskey glass before responding. "Yeah sorry kid, those who are deep into magic can tell you are marked and by something strong. Someone like Zatara could tell you are marked but not how far up it is and magic adept can only tell that you have magic.
Now then, you have my thanks for getting rid of him I was ready to put on the helmet...even if it was for the last time...*Ahem* so tell me how did you get here?"
Slowly I took another sip of whiskey. Closing my eyes I took a deep breath and began.
*GENERAL POV*
Within an office that was decorated with art, weapons, and other items from various eras stood a man. He was at the center of this office waiting patiently for an update. In the center of the room a red circle appeared quietly followed by the two people whom he'd been waiting for.
Abra Kadabra and Witch Boy, as soon as they appeared Abra Kadabra walked up to him talking about Witch Boy running away and how they practically had the helmet in their hands.
At the exclamation the man turned to the agent of chaos and saw a plank face staring back. The look let him know that something was wrong, very wrong if Witch Boy was acting like this. "Abra leave us."
The man opened his mouth to protest but was silenced with a look. As soon as Abra left Vandle Savage spoke "What happened?"
Everything went fine at first, trapping Kent then looking for where he hid the helmet. Then the group of sidekicks appeared and began to look for Kent. They posed no threat a nuisance at best. Then the group disappeared from the tower.
Witch Boy figured that the tower had gotten rid of them so resumed the search for the helmet. Soon after they found Kent, the helmet and someone else. It was that 'mercenary' Ronin.
Savage was given a warning by Witch Boy before he left, "Stay away from him, he is marked." He didn't elaborate just warned him and left. Someone, or something that could scare the Witch Boy could be useful, especially if others like Darksied and Trigon wished to avoid him as well.
He had to tread carefully, that boy is shrouded by mystery, he and others appeared out of nowhere and now apparently, they have a powerful enough backer to make even Witch Boy falter. He would need to get more information on this boy and the others.
While unknown he was confident that he could get this unknown to see the light. In the end everyone sees the light.
