Standing in front of the bay window of his office, which gave a beautiful view of Manhattan, Trevor was still thinking about his meeting with Lisy. She still beautiful as before and he had never stopped thinking about her or secretly hoping to meet her again.
That demon disguised as an angel. She'd had it.
She was the woman he had sincerely loved and for whom he was ready to do anything. But this viper, as he had nicknamed her, had betrayed her. She had cheated on him with another man and was only after his money.
Jade had always warned him against her, but he'd never heeded her advice.
From the person he cherished she had become the person he hated most.
It was the knock on the door that drew him out of his thoughts.
"Come in !"
He said, turning round.
"I'm sorry to disturb you but I need you to sign some documents to confirm the order with our wholesale dealers.
It was his cousin Derek.
"Okay, let me see."
Derek presented him the papers to sign.
After taking a moment to read the documents, Trevor signed.
Since his father's sudden death from a heart attack three years earlier, Trevor had taken over the reins of the family business.
And he had proved that he was worthy of being called his father's son by carrying the company name higher.
As CEO of a well-known firm in the United States, Trevor has everything it takes to be called an accomplished man.
The eldest of one sibling, he grew up in a peaceful and loving environment. His parents loved each other and were not shy about showing it.
His father was his role model.
It had been very painful to lose him.
His mother and little sister still shocked.
"Here ! Is that all ? "
Trevor asked handing him the signed documents.
"Yes, are you sure that you're alright ?"
Derek asked noticing his cousin's pale face.
"Of course I'm alright, why do you ask ?"
"You don't look too good, is it the wedding preparations ?"
Trevor wasn't too talkative, he didn't like to expose his private life and problems so as not to come across as weak. In fact, that is was why he didn't have many friends.
The only thing that made him feel good was painting. He could spend a whole day in his painting studio without seeing the hours go by.
The drawings he made through painting helped him to express what he couldn't say orally.
Lisy's face and her angelic smile had been on most of his canvases. He loved her so much but she had ruined everything.
He was sure that she had started a new life with another man, just as he had done with Jade.
"The preparations are going very well, we even met our wedding planners today."
"And apart from that ?"
"What ? Anything you want to tell me ?"
"Not really, are you sure that you really want to get married ?"
"What kind of question is that Derek ?"
Trevor asked as he wondered what was wrong with his cousin.
"Calm down ! You know marriage is a lifetime commitment, you'll be doomed to love this person until death do you part and..."
"Yes, I know all that."
Trevor said cutting him off.
"Are you sure Jade is the woman you really want to commit to ?"
"I'm pretty sure if that can clear your doubts."
Trevor was trying to convince himself that he really did love Jade the way he'd loved Lisy.
At least Jade had never betrayed him and had always been there for him when he really needed her.
She had been loyal to him and he didn't know why his mother and sister couldn't see what an exceptional woman she was. They weren't happy about the idea of him marrying Jade but he had already made his decision nobody should protest.
"Can we discuss personal matters outside the business ?"
"Of course Trevor and sorry for my intrusive questions I'm just worried about you."
"I don't blame you, Jade makes me happy."
"OK, I'll leave you to it."
"OK !"
Derek headed for the office door leaving Trevor alone in his luxurious office.
Without waiting, he concentrated on the documents on his desk to check up on expenses, profits, orders in hand, advertising strategies and so on.
JACKSON wines were consumed all over the world and running this kind of company often put a lot of pressure on him.
When he started work he lost track of time and everything around him but now he was really distracted by his meeting with Lisy so he could not concentrate.
He couldn't wait for the preparations to begin and above all he couldn't wait to see Lisy again. He intended to use his power and position to give her a hard time in the days to come. She was going to regret ever having crossed his path again.
Was this a way for Trevor to repress his nostalgia for Lisy or wanting to mistreat her was a way for him to convince himself that he no longer loved her.
